If you have an older RCA remote and wish to use it but can't find the Code Search button like you see on newer models, don’t worry! We’re here to help. This guide will show you how to find the right codes to set up your remote control.
Steps
Locate Your Remote

Find the model number of your remote (it may be listed on the back of the remote). Remove the battery cover and look for a model number like RCR412S.

Visit the RCA Remote Code Finder. Select Model and choose your remote from the list displayed.

Click the Manual button located at the top left of the page. Enter the remote's model number here and then click the red magnifying glass icon. Once found, you can either view the instructions or download the full code list in PDF format.

Note: If you can't find your remote's model number on the RCA page, visit this website. Search for your remote, click on it, and scroll to the bottom of the page where you'll find the label Originally supplied with models. This shows the model number for VCRs (video cassette recorders) that your remote can control or was included with when purchased.
Set Up Your Remote

Press and hold the TV button on the remote. The LED light will turn on. Keep your finger on the TV button.

Enter the code. While holding down the TV button, input the TV or VCR code into the remote. The LED light will turn off during the code entry and will light up again once the final digit is entered.

Release the TV button. The LED will blink and turn off if the code entry was successful. If an error is detected, the LED will blink four times.

Test the channel change function.
- Note: Not all features are supported by every remote model. However, basic functions like changing channels on the TV and controlling the VCR are usually functional.
Activate Code Search

Turn on the device you wish to set up.

Activate Code Search. Press and hold the power button and the device button at the same time until the LED light turns on.

Press the Play button every 5 seconds until the device powers off. Each time you press it, ten codes will be sent.

Press the Rewind/Reverse button to check if the device turns off and on again. Wait for 2 seconds and press it once more until the device powers on. You may need to repeat this step 10 times to thoroughly check the ten codes that were sent.

Press and hold the Stop button until the light turns off. This step saves the code.
