If you don’t have a PayPal account or choose not to use it, shopping on eBay can be somewhat challenging. However, you can still make payments without PayPal by using alternatives such as credit cards, debit cards, or gift cards for a quick transaction. Once your shopping is complete, you'll need to confirm the order and proceed with the payment.
Steps
Payment with a Credit or Debit Card

Click on the 'Buy it now' button. Select your product as usual, then click the 'Buy It Now' button. You’ll be redirected to a page where you can enter your payment details.

Sign up for an account (if necessary). If you don't have an eBay account, you can create one by clicking on 'register now.' Simply enter basic information such as your name, address, and phone number. If you prefer not to log in, select 'continue as guest.'

Select payment with a debit/credit card. After selecting your items, you will see various payment options. Instead of choosing PayPal, opt for payment via credit card or debit card.

Enter your details. You will be directed to a page where you can input your credit or debit card number. Make sure to provide your billing address, name, expiration date, and security code.
- If your billing address and shipping address are different, clarify this to ensure the items are sent to the correct address.
Complete the payment process. Once you’ve entered your information, you’ll be asked to review your order. Ensure all details are accurate before confirming the payment. The total amount will be charged to your credit/debit card.
Pay with gift cards or coupons

Click on 'Pay Now.' Select the items you wish to purchase as usual. Then, click on the 'Pay Now' or 'Buy Now' button. If you win a bidding product, you must click 'Pay Now' or 'Buy Now' after securing the item.

Click on 'Redeem a Gift Card, certificate, or coupon.' Instead of selecting payment through credit/debit cards or PayPal, click on the option to use a gift card, certificate, or coupon. You will be redirected to the page where you can enter the code.

Enter the code. Gift cards, certificates, and coupons come with a code that you need to input on the eBay page. The code is sent via email or printed on the back of the card. Carefully enter the code in the designated box and click 'redeem.'

Continue and log into your account. Click on the 'apply' button > 'continue.' If prompted, log into your account.
- If you don’t have an account, you can proceed as a guest. You can enter your shipping address when checking out as a guest.

Complete the payment. Double-check the shipping details, name, phone number, and other items for accuracy. Then, click the 'Confirm payment' button to finalize the order.
Troubleshooting Common Issues

Pay as a guest if you've used PayPal before. Sometimes, eBay defaults to PayPal as the payment method if you’ve used it in the past. When checking out as a guest, you can easily enter your details and pay with a card instead.

Try clearing your browser history. Occasionally, eBay may continue to redirect you to the PayPal payment page even when you choose a different payment method. If this happens, try clearing your browser history and cookies. This can often resolve the issue.

Don't link PayPal and eBay accounts. If you prefer not to use PayPal on eBay, avoid linking your eBay account to PayPal. If linked, eBay may automatically select PayPal as your default payment method.
- If you’ve already linked PayPal to your eBay account, consider creating a new eBay account with a different email address.
