Today, Mytour will guide you on how to install a new SIM card for your iPhone or Android device. A SIM card allows your phone to connect to a specific carrier, such as Viettel, Mobiphone, or Vinaphone. To use a SIM card from a different carrier than your current one, your phone must be network unlocked.
Steps
Preparing to Swap SIM Cards

Check if Your Phone is Unlocked. Many phones are "network locked," meaning they cannot be used with SIM cards from other carriers.
- You can unlock your iPhone or Android device if you meet the eligibility criteria (this depends on the specific carrier).
- If your phone is already unlocked, you can insert a SIM card from a different carrier and start using it.

Purchase a new SIM card. SIM cards from carriers like Viettel, Mobiphone, and Vinaphone are typically sold at their respective service centers, most phone stores, and online.
- Most phones only accept a specific SIM card size, so it's essential to verify this before purchasing a SIM.
- If you're unsure about the type of SIM card your phone uses, bring your device to the carrier's store and ask an employee to check. They might even install the SIM card for you!

Turn off your phone. It's crucial to power down your phone before removing or inserting a SIM card:
- For iPhone - Press and hold the Lock button on the side of the device, then swipe the slide to power off option to the right when prompted.
- For Android - Press and hold the Power button on the side of the device, then tap Power off when prompted.

Remove the phone case. If your phone has an external case, you'll need to remove it first to locate the SIM tray, as the SIM tray is integrated directly into the phone's frame.
On iPhone

Locate the SIM tray. On any active iPhone, the SIM tray is located below the Lock button on the right side of the device; you'll see a thin, oval-shaped tray with a small hole on top.
- For iPads, the SIM tray is on the bottom right side of the device, though iPad 3 and 4 have the SIM tray near the top-left corner.

Remove the SIM tray. Insert a straightened paperclip, pin, or similar tool into the small hole near the bottom edge of the SIM tray and gently press until the tray pops out.

Take out the old SIM card. Carefully remove the SIM card from the tray, or flip the tray over to let the SIM card fall onto a soft surface (like a towel).
- Avoid touching the golden connectors at the bottom of the SIM card.

Insert the new SIM card into the tray. The SIM card will only fit in one orientation: the corner with the notch should align with the top-right corner of the tray.

Reinsert the SIM tray into the phone. You'll hear a click when the SIM tray snaps into place, and the back of the tray will align flush with the phone's body.

Turn on your iPhone. Press the Lock button to power it on. After the iPhone reboots, you may be prompted to enter your Apple ID password.
- If the SIM card has a PIN, you'll need to enter it to start using the new carrier.
On Android

Locate the SIM slot on your Android device. The SIM slot on Android phones varies depending on the manufacturer, so it's best to research your specific model to find its exact location. Common placements include:
- On Samsung - At the top edge of the phone.
- On Huawei - At the bottom-right or bottom-left edge of the phone.
- On LG - At the top, left, or right edge of the phone. Some LG models, like the G4, have the SIM card hidden beneath the memory card, located under the battery behind the back cover.

Remove the battery if necessary. If your Android device requires removing the battery to access the SIM, take off the back cover and gently pry out the battery.
- The SIM card might be hidden beneath the memory card behind the phone's back cover.

Eject the SIM tray. Insert a straightened paperclip, pin, or similar tool into the small hole near the bottom edge of the SIM tray and press gently until the tray pops out.
- If the SIM tray is located behind the phone, use your fingernail to gently push the SIM card out of the slot.
- If there's no hole near the bottom edge of the SIM tray, try pressing the tray inward and releasing it to make it pop out.

Remove the old SIM card from the tray. Carefully take out the SIM card from the tray, or flip the tray over to let the SIM card fall onto a soft surface (like a towel).
- Avoid touching the golden connectors at the bottom of the SIM card.

Insert the new SIM card into the tray. The SIM card will only fit in one orientation: the corner with the notch should align with the top-right corner of the tray.
- Refer to your phone's manual or online documentation if you encounter any details that differ from the description above.

Reinsert the SIM tray into the phone. You'll hear a click when the SIM tray snaps into place, and the back of the tray will align flush with the phone's body.
- If the SIM tray is located beneath the battery, it will lock into place once inserted deep enough.
- For phones with internal SIM slots, reinsert the battery (and sometimes the memory card) into the back of the phone before proceeding.

Turn on your phone. Press the power button to start it. The phone will automatically connect to the carrier, but you may need to enter a password or SIM PIN (if set up) before you can begin using it.
Tips
- Some Android phones support dual SIM cards, allowing you to switch between two phone numbers without needing to swap phones or SIM cards.
Warnings
- If you don't meet the carrier's eligibility requirements, you won't be able to unlock your phone.
