Today, Mytour will guide you through the process of switching from your AOL.com email address to Gmail. After creating a new Gmail account, you can easily import your AOL contacts and messages using the import tool. If you'd like to continue receiving mail through your AOL.com address without having to log into AOL, you can set up unlimited automatic forwarding.
Steps
Import your AOL contacts and mail into Gmail

Log in to your Gmail account at https://mail.google.com. If you are already logged in, your Gmail inbox will appear. If not, follow the on-screen instructions to sign in with your Google account and password.
- If you don’t have a Gmail account, click the Create account link to create one.
- If you're using a mobile phone or tablet, open a web browser instead of the Gmail mobile app.

Click the gear icon near the top right corner of the page. The Quick Settings menu will expand.

Click on See All Settings (View all settings). This option is located at the top of the Settings menu.

Click on the Accounts and Import tab. This is the fourth tab at the top of the page.

Click on Import mail and contacts link. This blue link appears below the “Import from Yahoo!, Hotmail, AOL, or other webmail or POP3 accounts” section. A window with a text field will pop up.

Enter your AOL.com email address in the text field and click Continue (Continue).

Enter your AOL password and click on Continue. Once your password is accepted, the system will ask you what information you would like to import.

Check the boxes for the information you wish to import. You may want to import your contacts and mail to preserve important information. If you prefer all emails sent to your Aol.com address to be forwarded to Gmail for the next 30 days, tick the "Import new mail for the next 30 days" box.
- If you don't plan to delete your Aol.com email address but want to forward all future mail to Gmail for more than 30 days, skip the "30 days" section and refer to Forwarding future AOL mail to Gmail after the import process is complete.

Click on the Start import button (Begin Import). Gmail will begin connecting to your Aol.com account and copying your mail and contacts. Once the process is completed, click OK to close the window.
- If you wish to completely stop receiving emails to your Aol.com account, learn more about how to cancel your AOL account after transferring to Gmail.
