Today, Mytour will show you how to use the webcam on your Windows or Mac laptop to take photos. You can use the Camera app on Windows 10 or Photo Booth on Mac.
Steps
On Windows

Ensure that your computer has a webcam. If it's a laptop with a built-in webcam, it's easy to take pictures. Otherwise, you may need to install a webcam before proceeding.

Type camera in the Start menu. The Camera app on your computer will appear, allowing you to take photos with any connected camera.

Click on Camera. This white camera icon is located at the top of the Start menu. The Windows Camera app will open.

Wait for the computer's camera to activate. The camera's indicator light will turn on when the device is activated, and you'll see yourself in the Camera app window.

Point your computer toward the subject you wish to capture. The subject's image will appear on your screen.

Click the "Capture" button, shaped like a camera, at the bottom of the Camera app window. The photo will be taken and saved to the Photos app on your Windows computer.
On Mac

Type photo booth into Spotlight. Photo Booth will be found on your Mac.

Click on Photo Booth. The app will appear at the top of the results under the Spotlight search bar. Photo Booth will open on your Mac.

Wait for the Mac camera to turn on. When the camera activates, the green light next to it will illuminate.
- You will see yourself in the Photo Booth window once the camera is on.

Point your Mac toward the subject you want to capture. Everything displayed in the main Photo Booth window will be part of the photo, so you can adjust your framing as needed based on what you see in the window.

Click on the red and white "Capture" button at the bottom of the screen. The photo will be taken and added to the Photos app on your Mac.
- The image will also be visible on your iPhone or iPad if you've enabled Photo Stream.
Tips
- Windows 7 requires the use of a dedicated camera app (for example, cameras controlled by CyberLink YouCam have an app named "YouCam" or similar). If you're unsure about the camera's name, try typing "camera" in the Start menu or check your computer's model number to identify the integrated camera.
- Photo Booth comes with several filters and effects you can use to enhance your photos while taking them.
Warning
- Photos taken with a webcam are of much lower quality compared to those captured with smartphones, tablets, or digital cameras (DSLR).
