This article will guide you on how to identify the approximate geographic location of an IP address. To trace an IP address, you first need to have the IP address itself.
Steps
Using WolframAlpha
Find the IP address you wish to trace. You can find the IP address of a website on Windows, Mac, iPhone, and Android platforms.
- You can also find the IP address of a Skype user if needed.
Open the WolframAlpha website. Visit https://www.wolframalpha.com/ from your web browser.
Click on the search bar at the top of the page.
Enter the IP address you wish to trace. For example, if you want to trace the IP address of Facebook, type 157.240.18.35 into the search bar.
Press ↵ Enter. This action will search for the location information of the IP address.
View the results. WolframAlpha typically displays details like the type of IP address, the Internet Service Provider (e.g., Viettel), and the city where the IP address is active.
- You can click on More to the right of the "IP address registrant:" title to view related city information.
- If WolframAlpha does not show the IP address details, try using IP Lookup
