Pimples caused by excess oil on the skin can be irritating and embarrassing. Even after popping the pimple, the surrounding skin remains inflamed and red. While it's impossible to make pimples disappear instantly, you can reduce the redness and swelling. Using patches or natural ingredients such as witch hazel or aloe vera can significantly minimize the unattractive appearance of popped pimples.
Steps
Drain the Pimple

Apply a warm compress to the pimple. You should avoid squeezing the pimple. It typically bursts on its own once a whitehead appears. Removing the pus will help prevent infection and reduce swelling. Gently press a cloth around the pimple until the pus is expelled.
- Wash your hands before and after touching the pimple.
- A whitehead on the pimple indicates that pus is near the surface of the skin.
- Squeezing pimples can damage the skin and spread bacteria to other areas of the face.

Apply antibiotic ointment to the pimple. A popped pimple is an open wound, and some ointments or solutions can help speed up healing when applied to the skin. You can apply antibiotic ointments like Neosporin to the pimple to aid healing and protect it.
- If you don't have antibiotic ointment, natural solutions such as witch hazel or warm saline water can be used instead.
- For minor pimple-related wounds, antibiotic ointments can help heal the area within a few days.

Don't pick at the pimple. You might be tempted to pick at the scab that forms on the pimple after popping it, but resist the urge. The irritation can cause the pimple to swell and redden.
- Picking at the pimple can slow down the healing process. Each time you touch the popped pimple, you introduce bacteria and other impurities to the open wound.
Use a hydrocolloid patch

Wash your face. Wash your hands thoroughly before touching your face. Use warm water and a gentle soap or facial cleanser to wash your face, massaging in gentle circular motions. Rinse again with warm water and pat your face dry with a clean cotton towel.

Cut the hydrocolloid patch to fit the popped pimple. You can purchase this product at any pharmacy. Cut a patch large enough to cover the pimple area. Once it's the correct size, peel off the backing to reveal the adhesive side.
- If the patch already fits your pimple, you can skip this step.
- If the patch doesn't have adhesive, you can secure the edges using medical tape.
