If you've tried various acne treatments, consider trying a home remedy with banana peels. Banana peels are widely available and can help heal acne-prone skin. They contain lutein, an antioxidant and a vitamin A precursor (carotenoid), which may help reduce inflammation. Although this method has not been medically proven as an acne treatment, it’s worth trying and seeing the results for yourself.
Steps
Treat acne with banana peels

Wash your face. Before applying banana peels, ensure your face is clean of oil and dirt. Use a gentle cleanser to clean the acne-prone areas, then rinse with cold water. Follow up by gently patting your face dry with a clean towel.
- Do not scrub your skin. This can cause inflammation and worsen acne.

Choose a banana. Select a ripe banana with yellow skin and a few black spots. Avoid choosing an unripe banana (bright yellow with a green tip) or an overly ripe one (wrinkled and black).
- With a ripe banana, you will find it easier to use the peel on acne-prone areas.

Prepare the banana. After peeling, you can either eat the banana or use it for other skin issues. Cut the peel into small pieces for easy handling.
- Banana peels contain vitamins A, B, C, E, potassium, zinc, iron, and manganese. These nutrients help reduce inflammation and prevent acne breakouts.

Rub the banana peel on your skin. Only use the white side inside the peel. Take a small piece of peel and gently rub or massage it onto your skin for about 10 minutes.
- Every few minutes, check if the peel remains white. Once it turns black, replace it with a fresh piece and continue the process.

Let your skin rest. Don’t wash your face immediately after massaging with the banana peel. If possible, leave it on until the end of the day, then rinse with cold water. This allows your skin to absorb the nutrients from the banana peel.
- If you cannot leave it on until the end of the day, apply the peel before going to bed, and wash your face with clean water the next morning.

Use banana peels regularly for acne treatment. Apply banana peel on your face once a day, but continue doing so for several days. After a while, you will notice that the acne fades or becomes less red.
- If you experience any irritation after using the banana peel, stop using it and let your skin rest. See a dermatologist if the acne worsens.
Banana-based Skin Care

Treat wrinkles or cracked heels. If you have wrinkles or cracked heels, try using bananas. Apply mashed banana directly to the affected areas and leave it on. The banana will moisturize your skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
- Specifically, the vitamin E in bananas can help prevent wrinkle formation.

Create an exfoliating scrub. Mash a ripe banana in a bowl until it turns almost liquid. Add one spoonful of sugar or two to three tablespoons of oats. This mixture will be easy to apply on your skin and effectively exfoliate dead cells. Afterward, wash your face with warm water and apply a moisturizing product.
- Be gentle while exfoliating. Avoid scrubbing too hard on the skin, as it can cause damage. Instead, use your fingertips to carefully massage the mixture onto your skin in circular motions.

Make a moisturizing face mask. To quickly make a moisturizing face mask, take a ripe banana and mash it until almost liquid, then apply it to your face and leave it on for 10 to 20 minutes. For an even more effective mask, try adding one of these ingredients:
- Turmeric powder: has antibacterial properties, helping to prevent inflammation.
- Baking soda: opens pores and removes excess oil.
- Lemon juice: brightens and tightens the skin.
- Honey: kills acne-causing bacteria.

Care for your hair with bananas. Don't forget that bananas are also great for your hair. Mash one or two bananas and mix them with a tablespoon of honey or a few drops of almond oil. Apply the mixture to wet hair and leave it on for 15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with water.
- Bananas, honey, or oil will provide moisture for dry, damaged hair.
