This Mytour guide will walk you through the process of revealing hidden columns in Microsoft Excel. The steps provided are compatible with both Windows and Mac versions of Excel.
Steps to Follow
Open your Excel file. Double-click the Excel document or the Excel icon, then choose the file name from the home screen. This action will open the file that contains the hidden columns in Excel.
Select the columns adjacent to the hidden column. Click the letter above the hidden column on the left, hold down the ⇧ Shift key, and click the letter above the hidden column on the right. When done correctly, these columns will be highlighted.
- For instance: If column B is hidden, click on A, hold the ⇧ Shift key, and click on C.
- To unhide column A, select the column by entering "A1" in the Name Box located to the left of the formula bar.
Click on the Home tab. This tab is located at the top-left corner of the Excel window, within the green-colored Ribbon (the bar containing the Home tab and other tabs). This ensures that the Home toolbar is displayed below the green Ribbon.
Click on Format. This button is found in the "Cells" section of the Home tab, located at the far right of the toolbar. A dropdown menu will appear.
Hover over Hide & Unhide. This option is located under the "Visibility" section in the Format dropdown menu. Once hovered over, a submenu will appear.
Click on Unhide Columns. This button is located near the bottom of the Hide & Unhide submenu. This step will immediately unhide the column between the two selected columns.
Tips
- If some columns remain hidden after attempting to unhide them, it’s possible their width is set to "0" or another small value. To adjust the width, move your cursor to the right border of the column and drag to increase its size.
- To unhide all hidden columns in your Excel sheet, click the "Select All" button, which resembles a small rectangle with a triangle inside, located to the left of column "A" and above row "1". Then, follow the remaining steps in this guide to unhide those columns.
