Are you no longer interested in using Facebook's Messenger app? You can uninstall the app from any device where it’s installed. Uninstalling Messenger will remove all its data from your device. After uninstalling the app, you can still view and send messages through Facebook's website.
Steps
iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch
Press and hold the app on the Home Screen. To uninstall Messenger on an iOS device, press and hold the app on the Home Screen until all the apps start shaking.
Click the "X" next to the Messenger app on the Home Screen. You will be prompted to confirm the deletion of the app.
Use Facebook's website to check your messages. You can still view Facebook messages through its website after uninstalling the app.
Android
Open the Settings app on your device. This will open the device's Settings menu.
Select "Apps," "Applications," or "App Manager." This will display a list of installed apps on your Android device.
Locate Messenger in the app list. Make sure you select the correct Messenger app, as there are multiple apps with the same name. Look for the Messenger icon with a lightning bolt symbol.
Click on "Uninstall" on the Messenger app's Info page. After confirming, Messenger will be uninstalled from your Android device.
Use the Facebook website to view and send Facebook messages. Even after uninstalling Messenger, you can still check your Facebook messages anytime and anywhere by visiting the Facebook site through your mobile browser.
Windows Phone
Open the app list. Select "All apps" to display every app installed on the device.
Press and hold the Messenger app. A menu will appear after a short delay.
Select 'Uninstall' from the menu. Once confirmed, the Messenger app will be removed from your device.
Check your Facebook messages on the website. Even though the Facebook app doesn't allow message viewing, you can still read and send messages on the website.
