Today, Mytour will guide you on how to access your iPad Mini if you've forgotten the screen lock passcode. Unfortunately, the only way to do this is by erasing the iPad's data and restoring it via iTunes. If you've never backed up your iPad to iTunes or iCloud, you'll need to put the iPad into recovery mode.
Steps
Restore from iTunes

Connect the iPad to your computer. Plug the charging cable into the computer's USB port, then connect the other end to the iPad.

Open iTunes. The application features a multicolored musical note icon on a white background.
- If iTunes notifies you of a new update, click Download iTunes to install it. You may need to restart your computer.
- If iTunes requests a passcode, you'll need to use recovery mode to unlock your iPad.

Click the iPad icon at the top-left corner of the iTunes window. The iPad's page will open.
- If this is the first time your iPad is connecting to iTunes, you may need to click Trust iPad and then select Trust This Computer on both your computer and iPad before proceeding.

Click Back Up Now under the "Backups" section. Your iPad will start backing up to your computer; this process may take a few minutes.
- If prompted, click Transfer Purchases to copy all music, programs, and/or apps to your computer.

Click Restore iPad… at the top-right corner of the iPad's page.
- If asked to disable Find My iPhone, you'll need to use recovery mode to unlock your iPad.

Click Restore when prompted. Your iPad will begin restoring to factory settings.
- If your computer displays the Restore and Update option, click Next, then select Agree to proceed.

Wait for the iPad to complete the restoration process. Be patient, as this may take up to half an hour.
- Do not disconnect the iPad or turn off the computer during the restoration.

Follow the on-screen instructions until you reach the "Apps & Data" page. Once there, you'll be able to choose a backup option.
- To reach this page, you'll need to select your language, region, and Wi-Fi network.

Tap Restore from iTunes Backup near the top of the "Apps & Data" page.
- If an iCloud backup is available, you can tap Restore from iCloud Backup instead.

Enter your Apple ID. Input the email address associated with your Apple ID and the password, then tap Next to begin restoring the backup. Once the backup is restored, you can press the Home button to unlock the iPad and set a new passcode.
- After restoring the backup and accessing your iPad, you can disconnect the device from the computer.
