In this article, Mytour will guide you through the process of updating the Google Chrome browser on both your computer and mobile devices. While Google Chrome is typically set to update automatically, you can manually trigger the update on mobile devices through the app store, or on your computer by accessing the 'About Google Chrome' page.
Steps
On desktop

Open the Google Chrome browser. The application icon is a circle featuring green, red, yellow, and blue colors.

Click on the ⋮. This button is located at the top-right corner of the Chrome window. Clicking on it will reveal a dropdown menu.
- If the icon is green, yellow, or red, it indicates that an update is available.
- For older Chrome versions, the icon appears as ☰.

Select Help. This option is near the bottom of the dropdown menu. After selecting Help, a new window will open.
- If you see the option Update Google Chrome near the top of the menu, click it to proceed with the update.

Click on About Google Chrome. This option is located at the top of the window that has just opened.

Wait for Google Chrome to update. The update process typically takes only a few minutes.
- If you see the message "Google Chrome is up to date", it means your browser doesn't need updating at this time.

Restart Google Chrome. You can restart the browser by clicking the Relaunch button that appears after Chrome finishes updating, or simply by closing and reopening Chrome. Your browser is now updated.
- You can verify the browser's update status by revisiting the 'About Google Chrome' page and checking for the "Google Chrome is up to date" message on the left side of the page.
On iPhone

Open the App Store on your iPhone. The app has a light blue icon with a white "A" made from pencils. You can find the App Store on your home screen.

Tap on the Updates. This option is located at the bottom right corner of the screen.

Tap the UPDATE button next to Chrome. In the "Pending Updates" section at the top of the page, you'll see the Chrome icon; tap the UPDATE button next to it.
- If you don't find Chrome in the "Pending Updates" section, it means Chrome is already up to date.

Enter your Apple ID password if prompted. This will allow Google Chrome to begin the update.
- If no Apple ID password is requested, Google Chrome will start updating immediately.
On Android

Open the Google Play Store app. The app icon is white with a multi-colored triangle.

Tap the ☰. This button is located at the top-left corner of your screen.

Select My apps & games. You’ll find this option in the menu that opens on the left side of your screen.

Tap the Chrome icon. The Chrome icon is a circle with green, yellow, blue, and red colors. You'll find the Chrome icon under the "Updates" section; tap it to start the update.
- If you don't find Chrome in the "Updates" section of the My apps & games menu, it means Chrome is already up to date.
