This article will guide you through signing up for a Netflix trial. Netflix is a paid streaming service, but the first month is entirely free, allowing you to cancel your account after one month to avoid charges. Keep in mind that, legally, you cannot use a free Netflix account for more than a month. However, you can create multiple accounts to enjoy free trials if you have different payment methods.
Steps
On a Computer
Open Netflix. Visit the link https://www.netflix.com/ in your browser.
Click the JOIN FREE FOR A MONTH button. It's the red button located at the bottom of the website.
- If Netflix displays a logged-in account, sign out by hovering over their profile picture in the top-right corner and clicking Sign Out.
Press SEE THE PLANS. This button is at the bottom of the page. When clicked, it will redirect you to the next step.
Select a plan. Although the first month is free, it's recommended to choose the best plan with HD quality.
- If you plan to pay for subsequent months, you can opt for a cheaper plan.
Scroll down and click Continue. This button is located at the bottom of the page.
Click CONTINUE. You will begin entering your personal information on the next page.
Enter your email address and password. Input a valid, active email address in the top field and your desired password for the Netflix account in the bottom field.
Click CONTINUE. This button is located at the bottom of the page.
Choose a payment method. You will have two options: either pay with a bank card (credit or debit) or use a PayPal account.
- In some cases, you may also see the option to pay with a gift card.
Fill in the required details. Even though the first month is free, you must provide payment information (as the system assumes you will use Netflix for more than one month). Typically, you will need to enter the cardholder's name, card number, expiration date, and security code.
- If paying via PayPal, you will need to log in to your PayPal account and follow the on-screen instructions to confirm the subscription.
Click START MEMBERSHIP. This button is at the bottom of the page. You have now officially created a Netflix account and can start enjoying your free month.
Cancel your account before you are charged. To enjoy a free month of Netflix without incurring charges for subsequent months, you must delete your account a few days before the new month begins. Use a computer to complete this process:
- Visit https://www.netflix.com/ and log in.
- Select your account if prompted.
- Hover over your profile picture in the top-right corner and click on the Account button.
- Click Cancel Membership on the bottom-left of the screen.
- Confirm by clicking Finish Cancellation on the left side of the screen.
On mobile
Launch Netflix. Tap the Netflix icon: a black screen with the letter N. Netflix.
Tap the JOIN FREE FOR A MONTH button. This is the red button located at the bottom of the screen.
- If Netflix is logged into another account, tap ☰ and then Sign Out to exit the account, followed by Sign Up to begin creating a new account.
Click on SEE THE PLANS. A webpage displaying the available subscription plans will appear.
Select a subscription plan. Although the first month is free, it’s advisable to choose the best plan with HD quality.
- If you plan to pay for subsequent months, you can opt for a more affordable package.
Click the CONTINUE button. This button is located at the bottom of the page.
Press the CONTINUE button. You will be directed to a page where you can start entering your personal details.
Enter your email address and password. Input a valid email address in the top field and create a password for your Netflix account in the bottom field.
Click the CONTINUE button. This button is positioned at the bottom of the page.
Select a payment method. You will have two options: either pay with a bank card (credit or debit) or use a PayPal account.
- On iPhone, you can also choose SUBSCRIBE WITH ITUNES to proceed.
Enter your payment details. If paying with a card, provide the cardholder’s name, card number, expiration date, and security code. If using PayPal, log in to your account and follow the on-screen instructions to confirm your subscription.
- On iPhone, you can enter your Apple ID or use Touch ID to confirm your iTunes subscription.
- Although the first month is free, Netflix requires payment details to create your account.
Click the START MEMBERSHIP button. This button is at the bottom of the page. You have now officially created your Netflix account and can start using it immediately.

Tips
- If you've just set up a PayPal account with a debit card (previously used for Netflix registration), this account can be utilized to sign up for another Netflix account.
- Occasionally, Netflix posts job announcements that might offer you a chance to enjoy Netflix services without any charges.
- Sharing a Netflix account with others and splitting the monthly fee is always an option.
Warning
- Deliberately using paid services without payment is illegal, and this applies to Netflix as well.
- In certain scenarios, using a friend's Netflix account could be considered illegal. Always be mindful of Netflix's terms of service to avoid legal issues.
- You cannot use the same payment method for multiple accounts. Therefore, a new payment method is required if you decide to register another account.
