This article will guide you on how to set up and use Siri, the personal assistant on your iPhone.
Steps
Enable Siri

Make sure your iPhone supports Siri. All iPhones from the 4S model and newer support Siri.
- As of March 2017, the iPhone 4S is the only device not running iOS 10 yet still supports Siri.

Open the Settings app. This is the app with a gray gear icon, typically found on the home screen.

Scroll down the screen and select Siri & Search (Siri and Search). This option is located under the General section (General Settings).

Activate the slider for the options Listen for "Hey Siri" or Press Home for Siri. Toggle one or both of these options to "On" depending on how you'd like to use Siri.
- You can also enable Siri when your phone is locked by turning on the Allow Siri When Locked option.
- A window will pop up at the bottom of the page when Siri is activated.

Tap on Enable Siri (Turn on Siri). This option appears in the window currently open.

Adjust Siri's settings. You can choose from the following options on this page:
- Access When Locked (Access when locked) or Access on Lock Screen (Access on lock screen) - Toggle this slider to "On" to allow Siri to respond even when your phone is locked.
- Allow "Hey Siri" (Allow "Hey Siri") - Turning this slider to "On" will set up "Hey Siri" - a process that lets you say "Hey Siri" to activate Siri.
- Language (Language) - Choose the language you want Siri to use.
- Siri Voice (Siri Voice) - Select the accent or gender for Siri's voice.
- Voice Feedback (Voice feedback) - This setting lets you choose when Siri will respond with voice feedback. Selecting Always means Siri will speak even when your iPhone is in silent mode, while Control with Ring Switch lets you mute Siri with the Mute button.
- My Info (My Information) - Choose a contact to be referenced by Siri during interactions. Typically, this will be you, so tap on your name from the list.
- App Support (App support) - Allows you to select third-party apps that Siri can interact with. You can view these apps by activating Siri and tapping ? at the bottom left of the screen.
Activate Siri

Press and hold the Home button on your iPhone. This round button is located at the bottom of the screen. After a few seconds, the Siri menu will appear; Siri will be in "listening" mode, waiting for your command.
- If your iPhone uses AssistiveTouch (virtual Home button) due to a broken Home button, tap the AssistiveTouch icon on the screen and select Siri (or press and hold the Home icon).
- You can also say "Hey Siri" if the "Hey Siri" feature is enabled.

Wait for the rainbow-colored bar to appear at the bottom of the screen. Once you see the colorful bar, feel free to speak to Siri.

Ask or say something to Siri. While Siri can handle most iOS-related requests (such as calling a friend), Siri will need to search the internet to answer more complex questions.

Tap the ?. This button is located at the bottom left corner of the Siri screen. Tapping it will show you a list of apps that Siri can interact with and provide a brief user guide.

Press the Home button again. This action will turn off Siri.
- You can also say "Goodbye" if Siri is still in listening mode.
Call, message, and email people in your contacts

Activate Siri. This action will put Siri in listening mode.

Say "Call [Name]" to make a call. If you specify a name from your iPhone contacts, Siri will immediately dial the person.
- If there are multiple people with the same name in your contacts, Siri will ask you to choose one. You can either say the name or tap on the correct contact to make the call.

Say "FaceTime [Name]" to start a FaceTime call. This works the same as making a regular call. If you mention a contact's name and Siri is unsure, it will prompt you to confirm the person you wish to call.
- If the person you are trying to reach doesn't use an iPhone, the FaceTime call will still start and end quickly.

Say "Tell [Name]" (Tell [name]) followed by a message. When doing this, be sure to say the exact content of the message after mentioning the person's name.
- For example, if you want to wish a friend a speedy recovery, say, "Tell Nam I hope you're feeling better". This will create a message saying, "I hope you're feeling better" (Tớ mong cậu mau khỏe).

Say "Yes" after Siri reads your message aloud. This is the action to send the message.
- You can also review the message and check spelling before saying "Yes", or you can tap on Send.

Say "Send an email to [Name]" (Send an email to [name]). Siri will fill in the recipient's name in the "To" field of a new email and ask you the following questions:
- What's the subject of your email? - Tell Siri the subject you'd like for the email.
- What would you like it to say? - This is when you tell Siri what the email's content should be.
- Are you ready to send it? - Siri will ask this after reading the email aloud. Say Yes to send it, or No to postpone.
Perform other tasks

Ask Siri to search the web. Say "Search the web" followed by your search keyword. Siri will search for the topic and show you a list of related websites.

Ask Siri to schedule a meeting. Simply say "Set up meeting at noon tomorrow" and Siri will reply with, "OK, I set up your meeting for tomorrow. Are you ready for me to schedule it?" The screen will show you the calendar with the exact date and time. If any meeting is already scheduled, Siri will notify you.
- Confirm with a positive answer or tap Confirm.

Ask Siri to remind you of something. For example, you can say "Remind me to call An" and Siri will ask, "When would you like me to remind you?" You'll need to tell Siri the time, like "at ten a.m. tomorrow", and then provide a confirmation (or tap Confirm) when asked if you'd like to set the reminder.

Ask Siri to check the weather. Say "What's the weather like today?" and the screen will display the weather forecast for your location.

Ask Siri to set an alarm. You can say, "Wake me up tomorrow at 6 a.m." and Siri will confirm by telling you that the alarm has been set for the time you requested.

Ask Siri to take a note. Simply say, "Note that I worked for ten hours today" and the screen will show you the note with the content you requested.

Ask Siri for information. You can ask questions like "How many cups are in a gallon?" (How many cups are in a gallon?). Siri will find the information and give you the result.

Ask Siri to play a song. Just say "Play [Song Name]" (Play [song name]) and Siri will play that song.
- Note: The song must be stored on your iPhone for Siri to play it.
Make the most of Siri's additional features

Create personal contacts. If you say "[name in your Contacts] is my [relationship to you]" ([name in Contacts] is my [relationship to you]), Siri will remember that person with that title.
- For example, saying "Mai is my mom" (Mai is my mother) will allow you to call her by saying "Call my mom" (Call my mom) when you want to make the call.
- You can do the same with places (e.g., say "[name] is my favorite restaurant" ([name] is my favorite restaurant)) and organizations, as long as their phone number or other details are stored in your contacts.
- You can even ask Siri to call you by a nickname. Just say "Call me [name]" (Call me [name]) to teach Siri to address you differently.

Correct Siri's mistakes. If Siri misunderstands something you've said, you can tap tap to edit below the misunderstood request and retype the message. It takes a little time to type it again, but Siri will learn and understand your intent better next time.

Ask Siri to tell a joke. For a little fun, you can ask Siri to sing a song or say "knock knock". You can also ask Siri to address you in a different way, like calling you "your highness" and ask some questions to get to know Siri better.
- iPhone users have discovered many amusing things to ask Siri.
Ask Siri to flip a coin. If you don't have a coin, you can ask Siri to flip one for you, and you'll get a random answer, either "heads" or "tails".
Ask Siri to turn a feature on or off. To enable or disable functions like the flashlight, Bluetooth, or others, just give Siri a command.
Using Dictation

Enable Dictation. You need to activate Dictation before using it. Like Siri, Dictation recognizes your voice, allowing you to input text by speaking. Your speech will be sent to Apple's servers to be processed and converted.
- Open the Settings on your iPhone.
- Choose General.
- Select Keyboard.
- Toggle the Enable Dictation slider to the "On" position.

Open an app that allows you to enter text. You can use Dictation anywhere the keyboard is available. Just open an app that allows text input, and the keyboard will appear on the screen.

Tap the Dictation button next to the spacebar. This is the button with a microphone icon. Tapping this will start the Dictation process.

Speak clearly and audibly what you want to enter. Speak slowly and clearly without rushing. You don’t need to pause after each word, but avoid slurring your words together.

Say punctuation marks. Dictation will turn your speech into a sentence unless you specify punctuation marks. To include punctuation, clearly state the punctuation you want. For example, to write "Hi there!", say "Hi there exclamation". Here are some common punctuation marks:
- . - "period" or "full stop"
- , - "comma"
- "[...]" - "quote" and "end quote"
- ' - "apostrophe"
- ? - "question mark"
- ! - "exclamation" or "exclamation point"
- ( and ) - "left paren" and "right paren"

Start a new line or paragraph. Dictation will automatically add a space and capitalize the first letter of the new sentence after a period, but you need to say clearly when you want to start a new line or create a new paragraph. Say "new line" to start a new line in the text, or say "new paragraph" to start a new paragraph.

Toggle capitalization mode. You can use Dictation to change how capitalization works while entering text:
- Say "cap" to capitalize the first letter of the next word. For example, "I love cap mom" will turn into "I love Mom".
- Say "caps on" and "caps off" to capitalize the first letter of every word in a sentence. However, articles will not be capitalized. For example, "caps on can I get the recipe caps off" will become "Can I Get the Recipe".
- Say "all caps" to make every letter in the next word uppercase. For example, "I all caps hate bugs" will become "I HATE bugs".
