Today, Mytour will show you how to locate the "Print Screen" key on your keyboard and how to use it to capture a screenshot on a Windows computer. Once the screenshot is taken, you can paste it into a program like Paint or Microsoft Word.
Steps
Take Screenshot

Find the ⎙ Print Screen. Look at the right edge of the "Function" row of keys (including keys like F5, and so on) at the top of the keyboard, and you will find the ⎙ Print Screen key.
- The "Print Screen" key often has the label "Sys Req" beneath the key name.
- The name "Print Screen" may also appear as "prt scr", "prnt scrn", or "prt sc".
- If there are other labels beneath the "Print Screen" text (such as "Sys Req"), you will need to press and hold the Fn key to activate the screenshot function.

Open the screen you want to capture. When you press the "Print Screen" key, everything displayed on the screen (except for the mouse cursor) will be captured in the screenshot by default.
- Make sure to review the screen carefully before capturing to avoid exposing personal information.

Press the ⎙ Print Screen. This action will capture everything on the screen and store it in your computer's clipboard.
- If you only want to capture the active window, hold the Alt key along with the ⎙ Print Screen.
- On Windows 8 and 10, you can use the ⊞ Win+⎙ Print Screen key combination to take a screenshot and automatically save it in the "Screenshots" folder within the "Pictures" directory.
Paste the Screenshot

Open the program where you want to use the captured screenshot. You can paste the screenshot into programs like Microsoft Paint, Word, PowerPoint, email, or social media posts.
- If you're using Word, PowerPoint, or any other Microsoft Office program, make sure to open a new and/or blank document before proceeding.
- You can also paste the screenshot into an existing document.

Click the area where you want the screenshot to appear. If you're posting on Twitter, create a new tweet. For Microsoft PowerPoint, click on an empty slide to insert the image.

Press the key combination Ctrl+V. The screenshot will immediately be pasted into the application you've selected.
- If you perform this action while using social media or an email client, the screenshot will automatically be added just like an attachment.
Additionally, if you're using Windows 10, you can use the Snipping Tool software for a very efficient screenshot experience. Simply press the Windows key and type 'snipping tool' to find the program.
Tip
- The "Print Screen" key is very useful, as it allows us to capture snapshots of online documents or other important materials without needing to print them on paper for storage.
Warning
- You cannot use the "Print Screen" key to print physical documents.
