Instagram Stories are a place to share and update about your life, and whenever someone views your story, Instagram records the account's information. But you can still watch other people's Instagram Stories anonymously. The key is how to leave no trace. Keep reading, as Mytour will guide you through the easiest and most effective way to view Instagram stories anonymously without getting caught.

I. How to watch stories anonymously
Currently, Instagram doesn't allow you to view stories in secret; all accounts that have viewed a story are recorded for 24 hours. After this period, if you have enabled the Save to Archive feature, you can revisit the view counts and the users who liked your story, while the list of viewers will be hidden once the story disappears.
If you view someone else's post within the first 24 hours, the account owner will be notified of your information. To avoid detection, follow the methods below to ensure they won’t know you’ve seen their story.
1. Use Airplane Mode
Using Airplane Mode is one of the simplest and most effective ways to view Instagram stories without revealing your identity. The process is very easy and only takes a few seconds to perform.
Step 1: Open the Instagram app and log into the account you want to use.
Step 2: Search for the Instagram account whose story you want to view >> visit their profile.

If you’re following this user, their story may appear at the top of your home page. Be careful not to tap on the profile picture to avoid opening the story, as Instagram will register it as having been viewed.
Step 3: Activate Airplane Mode on your device.

This mode disables your internet connection, preventing your device from connecting to Instagram's servers. While in this mode, your device is offline, so Instagram won’t be able to notify that you’ve viewed their story.
Step 4: Go back to Instagram, on the profile of the account you want to view, wait a few seconds >> tap to view the story as usual.

Step 5: Once you've watched the story, exit the Instagram app and close the app.

Step 6: Finally, after closing the app, wait for a while >> turn on Airplane Mode to restore your internet connection.
Now, you can use Instagram as usual.
2. Swipe through and view stories from adjacent accounts
In addition to temporarily disconnecting your internet, you can use another method to view stories anonymously by clicking on the story of an adjacent account. Instagram stories are arranged in a continuous order, so you can easily try this method effectively.
However, this method has certain limitations. You can only apply it if you have already followed their account, as their story will appear on your main feed.
Step 1: Open the Instagram app, and at the top of the screen, you’ll see the stories of the accounts you follow.
Swipe to go to the story of the account you want to view, in this case, I'll use the example of the account archdigest.

Step 2: Instead of clicking to view the story of the person you’re interested in, tap on the story of an adjacent account (either to the left or right).
Step 3: Now, depending on which side the story of the person you’re interested in is located, move your finger slowly in that direction.

The story of the account you want to view will appear, but do not release your finger, and just hold to view part of the story, don’t swipe all the way through.
Step 4: Now, you can screenshot the story if you'd like to review it more easily later >> gently slide your finger back to return to the original story.
In this way, you’ve managed to view the story anonymously without being detected. However, this method does come with some limitations, such as:
- You won’t be able to view the entire frame of the story, only part of it.
- It doesn’t allow you to watch videos that are still loading.
- If the story poster uploads multiple stories at once, you will only be able to access the first one.
3. Use a secondary account
Ultimately, creating a secondary Instagram account is the most practical solution if you want to keep your personal details private. All you need to do is set up an account with a username, profile picture, and birthdate that aren't yours. Most importantly, use different contact information, such as a different email and phone number from your main Instagram account.
With this approach, you can comfortably view stories without the risk of being discovered. Additionally, try to update the activity regularly so that the secondary account looks authentic, not like a fake Instagram account. Furthermore, follow Instagram's guidelines to avoid any actions that could result in the account being flagged or banned.
To quickly create a secondary account, tap on the Profile icon.
Tap on your main account name, then select Create a New Account.

Create a new username (you will use this to log in later), then set a strong password. Press Next once you're finished.

Instagram will use the phone number and email from your primary account to link to your secondary account (other users might be able to identify you from this). If you'd prefer to keep your details private, you can tap on Add a new email or phone number.

Now, you’ve successfully created a secondary Instagram account, separate from your main one, hiding your identity. You can now freely view stories of those you're interested in.
You can now watch Stories without worrying about triggering the "seen" notification. Mytour wishes you success in using this method to view Instagram stories anonymously without being detected. Thank you for reading the article.
