Netflix offers a wide selection of movies, TV shows, and exclusive content for an affordable subscription. You can access Netflix on nearly any device with an internet connection, including computers, smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, streaming devices, or modern gaming consoles. This guide will walk you through how to watch Netflix on various devices.
Steps
Using a Smart TV

Connect your smart TV to your home network. To stream Netflix using your smart TV's app, connect the device to the internet. You can do this using an Ethernet cable or by connecting the TV to your wireless network. If you're not using a smart TV, you can link a regular TV to a streaming device like Roku, Google Chromecast, Firestick, or Apple TV.
- Wired connection: A wired connection offers more stable internet access. To connect the TV to the internet with a cable, plug one end of an Ethernet cable into the LAN port on your modem or router and the other end into the Ethernet port on your TV.
- Wireless connection: Open the settings menu on your TV, find the network settings, select the wireless connection option, and enter your Wi-Fi password using the TV's remote. Settings and menus may vary depending on the TV brand.

Open the app list on the smart TV. Most smart TV remotes have a button to open the app list. This button usually has the logo or brand name of the TV. You need to use the TV remote, not the cable box or universal remote.
- Samsung: The button looks like a colorful cube.
- LG: Look for the "My Apps" button.
- Sony: Press the "Internet Apps" button or Netflix.
- Panasonic: Press the "Apps" button.
- Vizio: Press the Vizio logo, the Netflix button, or choose "SmartCast" as the TV's video source.

Select the Netflix. It has a black icon with the red "Netflix" text. Use the arrow buttons to select the app on the smart TV's user interface. Highlight the Netflix icon and press Enter or Ok on the TV remote.
- If you can't find the Netflix app, you might need to download it from the TV's app store.
- You need to update the TV's software to access streaming apps. This process can vary depending on the device, but typically you will download a file on your computer, copy it to a USB drive, and upload it to the TV. Refer to the TV's manual for instructions.

Sign in to your Netflix account. Use the on-screen keyboard to enter the email address and password for your Netflix account, then select Sign In and press Enter or Ok.
- You need to sign up for a Netflix plan that supports streaming. Any streaming plan allows you to use the app on the smart TV. If you don't have a Netflix account, you can register on their website.
- If your Netflix account has multiple profiles, select the profile you want to use.

Search for content using the TV remote. Use the arrow buttons on the TV remote to navigate through the menus and videos on Netflix. Highlight the video you want to watch and press the "Select" or "Enter" button on the remote to start playing.
- When watching a series, you can easily select the episode you want to watch. Use the TV remote to choose "Seasons" and select the season you want to watch. Pick an episode from the list and press Enter or Ok on the TV remote.
Use Google Chromecast

Download the Netflix app for Android or iPhone. You can get this app for free from the Google Play Store or the Android App Store. Follow these steps:
- Open the Google Play Store or App Store.
- Tap the Search tab (only for iPhone and iPad) at the bottom.
- Type Netflix in the search bar.
- Tap on Netflix in the search results.
- Tap Install or Get next to the Netflix app.

Connect Chromecast to the HDMI port on your TV. Chromecast is a small device with a USB connection. It comes with a cable that connects to the HDMI port on your TV. HDMI ports on TVs are usually numbered. Remember the number of the port you use.
- You can use the included extender if the cable is too short.

Connect Chromecast to a power source. Chromecast comes with a USB power cable to connect to the included AC adapter or a USB port on your TV. Some TV USB ports may not provide enough power to turn on Chromecast, in which case you will need to use a wall socket.

Select the HDMI source you connected Chromecast to. Press the Source button or Input button on your TV to choose the video source.

If you've never done this before, you need to set up Google Chromecast. The setup steps for Google Chromecast are as follows:
- Download the Google Home app from the Google Play Store for Android or the App Store for iPhone or iPad.
- Open the Google Home app.
- Tap the Add (+) icon.
- Tap Set up device.
- Tap Set up new devices in your home.
- Tap the family name and select Next.
- Tap the name of the Chromecast device shown on the TV screen and tap Next.
- Verify the code on your phone matches the one on the TV and tap Yes.
- Select the connection port for the device and tap Next.
- Choose a wireless network and tap Next.
- Tap Next.
- Tap Netflix and other streaming services, then select Next.
- Tap Continue and then select Continue again.

Open the Netflix app on your smartphone or tablet. It is the black icon with the red "Netflix" text.
- If your Netflix account does not automatically log in, you will need to enter your email address and password to log in.
- If your Netflix account has multiple profiles, select the profile you wish to use.

Select the video you want to watch. Once you find the video, tap on its image.

Tap on the Chromecast device. This action will cast the video you want to watch from your smartphone or tablet to your TV.
- Ensure that your smartphone or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the Chromecast device.

Control playback with the Netflix app. You can pause and skip through the video directly from the Netflix app. There's no need to open Netflix on your smartphone while watching on the TV. The playback controls are also shown in your device's notification center. Once Chromecast is set up, you don't have to repeat these steps to watch movies. Simply turn on the TV, select the Chromecast input, open the Netflix app on your phone, and start casting to the Chromecast device.
- When watching a series, you can easily select the episode you want to watch. Use the TV remote to select "Seasons" and pick the season you want. Choose an episode from the list and press Enter or Ok on the remote.
Using a laptop

Connect your laptop to the TV using an HDMI cable. If your laptop has an HDMI output, plug one end of the HDMI cable into it and the other end into the TV's HDMI port. Note which HDMI port you've used.
- If your laptop doesn't have an HDMI output, check for a DisplayPort or Micro HDMI port. You will need an adapter to connect these ports to the TV. You can also use Bluetooth to connect to the TV, but the image and sound quality may suffer.
- For older laptops, you can connect to the TV using a DVI or VGA port and an HDMI adapter. These connections do not carry audio signals, so you'll need a mm RCA audio cable to connect the laptop's headphone jack to the TV's RCA audio input.

Turn on the TV and select the HDMI input. Press the Input or Source button on the TV remote to choose the video input. After selecting the appropriate port, you should see your laptop screen on the TV.

Go to https://www.netflix.com on your laptop's browser. If you're not already signed in, click on Sign In in the top right corner to log in.
- If you have multiple profiles on your Netflix account, choose the one you wish to use.
Click on the video you want to watch. This will take you to the video's information page.

- When watching a TV series, you can easily select the episode you want to watch. Click on "Seasons" and choose the season you're interested in. Select an episode from the list and press Enter or Ok on the TV remote.
- You can also use screen mirroring to cast the video from your laptop to the TV.
Using Apple TV

Connect your Apple TV to the TV using an HDMI cable. You'll need an HDMI port on your TV for newer Apple TV models. Make a note of which HDMI port you used to connect the Apple TV.

Plug your Apple TV into a power source. This device requires an electrical connection to work.
- If you wish to connect your Apple TV to the internet using an Ethernet cable, plug the router's Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on your Apple TV.

Switch the TV's input to Apple TV. Check the labels on your TV's HDMI ports if you're unsure which one to select. Use the TV remote to choose the HDMI source that corresponds to the Apple TV connection. If you select the correct input, you should see the Apple TV setup screen.
Use the Apple TV remote to select and open the Netflix app. This option will be visible at the top of the app list.

Select the profile you want to use for viewing.
Use the remote to search for and play videos. You can browse content through the library or use the search function to find a specific movie title. Additionally, the playback buttons on the remote are used to adjust the video presentation on Netflix.
- When watching a TV series, you can easily pick the episode you want to watch. Use the TV remote to select 'Seasons' and pick the season you're interested in. Choose the episode from the list and press Enter or Ok on the TV remote.

When you connect to Firestick for the first time, you need to complete the setup process. Start by selecting a wireless network connection.
