Steps
Use Pre-made Products

Buy High-Quality Sugar Wax. These waxes are available at most large retail stores, but you’ll find a greater selection at beauty product stores.
- A good option is Nair Roll-On Wax, as it comes with a roller that helps evenly spread the wax over your bikini area.

Cut the waxing fabric into small strips. These strips are available for purchase (or often come with the wax), or you can make them yourself at home. Cut the fabric into strips 2.5-5 cm wide.
- If you prefer to make them yourself, find an old T-shirt or a piece of cotton fabric and cut it into strips.
- Another benefit: If you're careful, you can reuse the fabric after washing it (if the wax dissolves in water).

Clean the bikini area to remove any remaining debris on the hair. This step is essential because the wax needs something to stick to.
- Trim the hair to 0.6-1.2 cm, as shorter hair is easiest to wax.
- Apply baby powder or talc powder to the skin you're waxing. This helps the wax stick to the hair, not the skin, and reduces pain.
- If you begin to feel more discomfort, you can apply more powder, especially if you're waxing in a warm area.

Wipe off any wax on your hands. Keep tissues or fabric nearby. For water-soluble wax, just use a damp cloth.
- If the wax isn't water-soluble, dip a cotton ball in baby oil and wipe it off. Baby oil effectively removes any leftover wax and leaves your skin smooth.

Start from the lower abdomen area. Apply the wax in the direction of hair growth, using thin strips.
- Stretch the skin with one hand. Use a tissue to hold the skin in place to prevent slipping.
- With the other hand, rip the wax off in the opposite direction of hair growth. This method is more effective and less painful.
- Don’t apply too much wax, as the fabric may not stick to the hair.
- Place a mirror between your legs to wax hard-to-reach areas. A foldable mirror works best.

Continue until most of the hair is removed or until you're satisfied with the results. The bikini area is sensitive, so it may take several attempts to remove all the hair.
- Some areas may be easier to wax than others, depending on hair thickness. You may need to stop if the area becomes too red. After the redness subsides, you can continue.
- Use tweezers to pluck any remaining hairs instead of waxing again.

Clean the bikini area. There may still be some wax residue that's hard to remove.
- Use warm water and apply soothing oil or lotion.
- Redness of the skin is normal and will gradually subside.
DIY Brazilian Waxing

Prepare the ingredients. Making sugar wax is simple but also an art. Gather the following ingredients to make your wax:
- 2 cups (400 g) of white sugar
- 1/4 cup (30 ml) lemon juice, orange juice (freshly squeezed) or vinegar
- 3/4 cup (180 ml) water
- Waxing fabric (available in stores or use cotton fabric/T-shirt)
- Use a large stainless steel pot. If you use an old pot, some of its rust may mix with the wax.

Heat the ingredients in a pot over high heat. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Stir well.
- Keep an eye on the pot! If the heat is too low, you can still salvage it; if it's too high, it will ruin.
- Once the ingredients start to boil again, reduce the heat.

Pour the mixture once it turns brown into a clean container. The wax will slowly change from a transparent color to honey brown. At this point, turn off the heat immediately.
- Scientific testing shows that this takes about 6-20 minutes. Use a butter knife to test the wax's consistency (do not touch it with your hands). The wax should have a thick, sticky texture when it's ready.
- Test by dropping a small amount of wax into a cup of water. If the wax instantly forms beads and doesn't run into a long streak, it’s ready.
- If the mixture is still liquid and not resembling wax, discard it (do not pour it down the drain) and cook a new batch.

Let the wax cool down, but not too much. Wait for the wax to cool to a temperature where it won't burn you. It may take a few trials to get the timing right.
- If the wax cools too much, it will lose its stickiness. However, you can reheat it. Simply pour the wax into a microwave-safe container and reheat until it becomes pliable again.

Apply foundation to your skin. The skin should be thoroughly clean. Apply baby powder or talcum powder to the bikini area. Make sure the skin is completely dry.
- During the waxing process, you may need to reheat the wax or apply more powder. Add more powder if you experience increased pain or start sweating.
- Pain levels vary from person to person. For some, it’s not a big deal. Don’t let the discomfort discourage you.

Apply the wax. You can use a butter knife to spread the wax. If the wax is still too hot, wait a little longer. If it has cooled too much, it won’t pull the hair out completely, so you’ll need to heat it again.
- Apply the wax in the direction of hair growth. Ideally, the hair should be about 0.6-1.2 cm long before waxing. There needs to be something for the wax to adhere to. However, very long hair can make the waxing process more difficult.
- Place a mirror between your legs to better observe the bikini area.

Place a cloth over the waxed area and wait for it to dry. Start near the navel. Rub the cloth onto the wax to ensure it sticks and helps remove the hair properly.
- You can either use pre-made waxing strips or cut your own from an old cotton T-shirt. Sugar wax dissolves in water, so you can reuse the cloth after washing it immediately.
- Cut the fabric into strips about 2.5-5 cm wide. Smaller strips can be used for wiping or for hard-to-reach areas.

Rip off the strips quickly. It’s easier to control if you remove one or two strips at a time. Avoid letting multiple cotton strips get stuck in the bikini area.
- Leave the strip on the bikini area for about 30 seconds, depending on the size. Rip it off quickly against the direction of hair growth.
- The faster you rip, the less pain you’ll feel.
- Repeat until all the hair is removed.

Clean the bikini area after waxing. If your skin is sensitive, apply oil or lotion to soothe the bikini area. Use tweezers to pluck any remaining hairs.
- Make sure to wipe off any leftover wax. Hardened wax can be tricky to remove, and it may attract ants if left for too long.
Tips
- Press firmly on the skin immediately after removing the wax strip. This helps reduce pain.
- On your first Brazilian wax, don’t expect to remove all the hair. After all, you're not a professional, so you can't expect perfect results right away. Over time, the hair will become thinner and sparser, making it easier to clean up.
- Since the hair is thick, waxing may cause slight bleeding. Clean the bikini area with Isopropyl alcohol to prevent infection.
- Instead of pulling the strip in an 'upward' motion, try to stay as close to the skin as possible when removing it. In other words, 'pull, don’t yank.'
- You can use cooling pads (like Tucks) to clean the bikini area instead of Isopropyl alcohol. These pads contain witch hazel, which has antiseptic properties, and they are convenient as they come in individually wrapped sanitary packages. Be sure to pull the skin taut.
- Applying aloe vera gel to the bikini area can help relieve any burning sensations.
- To ease the pain after waxing, press the bikini area and apply an ice pack.
- Take Ibuprofen 10-15 minutes after waxing to reduce pain.
- Before cleaning the bikini area, apply an ice cube in a circular motion to the area to be waxed. This helps numb the skin and reduce pain.
Warnings
- Do not shave the remaining hair after waxing, as it will DEFINITELY lead to swelling and pain in the bikini area.
- Always check the wax temperature before applying it to the bikini area.
- Don’t wax if the hair is longer than 0.6 cm. Waxing hair that’s too long causes unnecessary pain and makes it harder to remove. Trim the hair before applying the wax. Professionals typically trim coarse hair to around 1.3 cm and fine hair to about 0.6 cm.
- If you haven’t finished waxing in one session, it’s best to wait 1-2 days for the bikini area to calm down before continuing.
- Apply oil before waxing to significantly reduce pain. This method is recommended for sensitive skin.
- It is not recommended to do waxing at home if it's your first time waxing the bikini area. A professional can help you achieve a quick, less painful waxing. You should visit a professional for a few sessions to let your body adjust. This will greatly reduce pain.
- Recommendation: Do not wax at home unless you have been trained at an aesthetic school. Inexperienced waxers may accidentally tear the skin or break blood vessels.
