Steps
Write a review on a computer
Sign into your Google account. You can log in from any Google website, including Google’s search page. Click the Sign In button at the top-right of the page and log in with your username and password.
- If you haven’t logged in while writing the review, the system will prompt you to log in to proceed.
- If you don’t have a Google account, you need to create one now.
Find the business or location. You can review restaurants, businesses, tourist spots, and more. Simply search for the place on Google Search, Google Maps, Google+, and others.
- To write a review from a mobile device, open the location's details on Google Maps, then use the “Rate and review” box.
Look for existing reviews. Once you locate the review target in the search results, you will also see a star rating and the number of reviews left by others about the place.
Click the “Write a Review” button or link. Depending on how you found the target, you’ll have several options to write a new review. Click on the link or button to open the review form.
- The link will be next to the star rating in the search results, while the button will appear below the name of the business in the sidebar of Google Search.
Rate the place with stars. A review consists of two parts: the star rating and the written feedback. Most people will first notice the star rating, so make sure it aligns with your opinion of the place.
- You can rate anywhere from 1 star (“Hate it”) to 5 stars (“Love it”) as you wish. Your rating will be added to all other ratings and averaged, forming the overall score of the place in Google’s search results.
Share your experience. After rating the place with stars, you can write your thoughts. Use this section to express your experience at the location. Be sure to read more to write a thorough and helpful review.
Publish your review. After writing your feedback, click the Publish button to post your review online. The review will include your name and a link to your Google+ profile.
Write a review on your smartphone
Open a web browser on your smartphone. You can use any web browser installed on your device.
Go to Google’s main website. Type Google’s address into the search bar of your browser. This will direct you to Google Search.
Find the place you want to review. Enter the name of the location you want to review in Google’s search box, then press Enter to display the results.
Start the review process. On the right side of the page, you will see details about the entity you searched for. Scroll down until you find the “Write a Review” box, then click on it.
Log into your Google account. On the next page, enter your Google login information into the provided fields, then click “Log in” to proceed.
Choose the number of stars to rate your experience. 5 stars is the highest rating and is pre-selected, so simply click on the star that best represents your rating.
Click in the box below the star rating and write your review in the provided text field. Be sure to be as specific as possible.
Click the “Publish” button in the top-right corner of the screen to post your review.
Tips
- If you wish to modify your rating or feedback in the future, simply open your review and click the Edit button to make changes.
