This article breaks it down so you can skip the confusion and jump straight into enjoying your Montréal adventure.

Heading downtown from the airport

After exiting your gate, follow the public transport signs. Look for the bus icon. The 747 stops near the end of the main pickup zone, along the road closest to the terminal doors—not the outer road where other buses usually stop. Keep an eye out for the 747 sign and a line of travelers waiting.

Have exact change ready.
The 747 bus doesn’t take bills—only coins. If you’re short on change, there’s a machine just inside the terminal entrance that accepts bills. The fare is $10 CAD. The machine gives you a fare card, which you’ll use to board.

Hop on the bus. Drop your coins into the fare box or scan the card from the machine. Hold onto that card—it’s valid for unlimited rides on the bus and metro system for 24 hours.

Grab a route map. These are located near the driver at the front of the bus. Use it to figure out which stop is nearest your destination. You can also check out the route ahead of time online: http://stm.info/English/bus/planibus/747.pdf.

Signal your stop. Pull the yellow cord above the windows or press the button on the pole before you reach your stop. This lets the driver know you’re getting off.
Traveling from downtown to the airport

Bring exact change—coins only.

Locate your pickup point. The 747 doesn't do a loop downtown, so don’t assume you can board where you got off.
- If you're catching the 747 from Berri-UQAM metro station, follow the signs for the 747 bus and the bus terminal (gare d'autocars). Once you reach the terminal, head to door 15—the bus waits just outside. Need change? This station has machines that accept bills and issue fare cards.

Get on the bus and stay on until you reach the airport.
