Craft your own wizard staff from beer cans in this hilarious party challenge
If you want a laid-back, entertaining game for your next drinking session with friends, look no further than Wisest Wizard (also known as Wizard Staff). All it takes is a pile of canned beer, some duct tape, and a few thirsty companions. Stick with us as we break down the rules and offer some creative twists to spice up the gameplay!
Wisest Wizard Game RulesStart your quest as a Level 1 Wizard in Training with your first beer. Each time you finish a can, tape a fresh one to the top to grow your magical staff and boost your level. The player with the longest staff by the end of the night claims the title of Wisest Wizard.
How to PlayHow to Play the Wisest Wizard Game

Crack open your first can of beer to kick off the game. Make sure to have plenty of beer on hand, especially if you're playing with a big group of friends. Each player starts as a ‘Level 1 Wizard in Training’ when they open their first can of beer.
- If you want to try a sober version of Wisest Wizard, you can substitute soda or sparkling water for the beer.

Tap a new beer onto your staff when you finish the last one. Once your first beer is finished, place a fresh one on top of it and secure them with duct tape to create your wizard staff. Adding a new can is considered 'leveling up,' and the number of cans represents your 'level.'
- For better control, try to align the cans neatly when stacking and taping them.
- As you add more cans, your staff becomes increasingly harder to manage due to its growing length.

Take a shot to battle a boss every 3 or 5 levels. To engage in a boss fight, pour a shot of liquor and finish it before you can resume drinking beer or adding to your staff.
- You can name the bosses after the liquor you're drinking. For example, if you're drinking Jose Cuervo, you can refer to the boss as 'Boss Jose' or 'Boss Cuervo' during the game.

Achieve Wizard status when your staff reaches your height. As your staff grows, set it down on the floor and compare its height with yours. When your staff matches your height, you earn the title of Master Wizard and can leave behind your 'Wizard in Training' status.
How to Win the Wisest Wizard Game

Claim victory by having the longest wizard staff at the end of the game. When you’ve run out of beer or simply decide to end the game, check who has the tallest staff. The player with the longest staff earns the title of Wisest Wizard and wins!
- Alternatively, set a time limit for the game, and the player with the longest staff when time expires is crowned the winner.
Wisest Wizard Game Variations

Play White Wizard to duel other players using your staff. When two players both reach level 10 and finish their drinks, they become White Wizards. Head outdoors to a spacious area where you can safely swing your staffs. The first player to break the other's staff wins.
- If your staff gets broken, you drop to the level of the longest segment left on your staff. For example, if you still have five cans intact, you’ll revert to level 5.

Introduce a penalty for using the word “drunk.” Instead of saying you're “drunk” or “intoxicated,” refer to yourself as “feeling wise.” If anyone slips up and uses the word “drunk,” they must take a sip from their drink.
- Moreover, instead of requesting another drink, say “I need to level up.”

Play additional drinking games to level up your staff. Many players enjoy incorporating games like
beer pong or 'Wizards Chess' for extra fun during Wisest Wizard. Stick to the usual rules, and the winner gets to add 2 empty cans to their staff without needing to drink them.

Create your own rules when you have the longest staff and level up. If you’re the player with the longest staff after leveling up, you can invent a quirky rule that everyone else must follow until you finish your next drink or until someone else surpasses your wizard staff length. Here are a few fun rule ideas:
- Taking a sip every time a certain word is spoken
- Choosing a player to drink whenever you do
- Taking a sip if you’re the last one to touch the floor
-
Consuming 4-5 alcoholic beverages in a single day is considered excessive and can be harmful to your health and safety. For moderate drinking, the recommended limit is 2 drinks per day for men and 1 drink per day for women.
-
Only consume alcohol if you meet the legal drinking age requirement in your location.
