Curious about Spotify Listening Parties but unsure what they’re all about? Listening Parties are an innovative new feature from Spotify that allows artists to engage with their fans by sharing music and chatting in real time. In this guide, we'll explain what Listening Parties are and how you can enjoy music with your friends using Spotify Jam or Listen Along on Discord.
Spotify Listening Party Overview
Spotify Listening Parties are a fresh feature that lets artists engage with their audience. These parties can only be initiated by artists and are visible on the artist's Events tab in the Spotify app. To share music with your friends, you can use Spotify Jam or Listen Along via Discord.
How to Get Started
What is a Spotify Listening Party?

- During a Listening Party, fans can engage with artists through live chat, while artists can stream music or use Spotify’s live audio tools to converse with their followers.
- This feature was initially part of Spotify Live, the now-defunct live social audio platform.
- Only artists can host Listening Parties. If you want to enjoy music with your friends, check out how to start a Jam or a Discord Listen Along below.
Spotify Jam

- Navigate to the song or playlist you wish to start the Jam from.
- Right-click (or tap the three-dot menu, if available) on the song or playlist and choose Start a Jam.
- On mobile, tap the speaker icon next to the song you're playing, or press the three-dot menu on a track or playlist and select Start a Jam.
- Click or tap Invite to share the invite link or generate a QR code for your friend to scan.
- You can also use Bluetooth to add someone to the Jam if you both have phones. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled, then tap Activate > Allow Bluetooth. Place both phones near each other for pairing.

- Choose whether you're joining remotely or in person. Note: Only Spotify Premium users can join a Jam remotely on desktop.
- Click or tap Join.

- To add a song, search for it on Spotify, then right-click (on desktop) or tap the three-dot menu (on mobile) and select Add to queue.
- On mobile, you can also tap the Add songs button while the Jam queue is open to get song recommendations from Spotify.
- To remove a song, open the Jam queue and either right-click (desktop) or tap the three-dot menu (mobile) to select Remove from queue.

- Ending the Jam as a host will stop it for everyone.
