How to Catch a Tiger Trout in Stardew Valley
To catch a Tiger Trout, fish in any river between 6 AM and 7 PM during Fall and Winter. Make sure you have a Bamboo Pole or better, as this fish can be quite difficult to catch. You'll need it for the Community Center and various quests.

Where to Find the Tiger Trout
You can catch a Tiger Trout in rivers between 6 AM and 7 PM during Fall and Winter. It can be found in rivers across Pelican Town, Cindersap Forest, Riverlands Farms, Forest Farms, Meadowlands Farms, and Hill-Top Farms. This elusive fish moves erratically, so keep your fishing bar steady to match its quick pace.
- Note that you can’t catch the Tiger Trout with the Training Rod; you’ll need a better rod to catch this fish.
- If fishing isn’t your thing, the Tiger Trout can also be purchased from the Traveling Cart, found at Krobus' shop on Wednesdays, or given as a gift by a pet cat with max friendship.

What You Can Do with Tiger Trout
The Tiger Trout is required for the River Fish Bundle. Completing this Community Center bundle helps repair the Fish Tank in the center.
Use Tiger Trout in recipes. While any fish can work for these dishes, you can cook three recipes with Tiger Trout:
- Maki Roll
- Quality Fertilizer
- Sashimi
You can gift the Tiger Trout. It’s a liked gift for Willy and a neutral gift for Demetrius, Elliott, Leo, Linus, Pam, and Sebastian.
Make a Fish Shirt using Tiger Trout. Head to the Sewing Machine in Emily’s or Haley’s house and combine it with some Cloth.
- Tiger Trout can also be used to create an orange dye.
Place Tiger Trout in a Fish Pond. This pond will only produce dark brown Tiger Trout Roe.
- Unlike other fish, the Tiger Trout can’t breed, so you’ll need to add all 10 fish to the pond to make it work.
Tiger Trout plays a role in various quests. During Fall or Winter, Willy may request 1-4 Tiger Trout at the "Help Wanted" board outside Pierre's shop. Demetrius might also ask for 10 Tiger Trout on the Special Orders board by Lewis' house.
