Re-sync and reconnect your TCL Roku TV remote
If you're experiencing issues with your TCL Roku TV remote, don't worry. TCL is a smart TV running on the Roku OS, and a non-responsive remote might be caused by dead batteries, problems with the IR emitter, or pairing issues. This guide will walk you through the steps to fix your TCL Roku TV remote when it stops working.
Instructions
Inspect the batteries in the remote.

Ensure the batteries are functional. It's best to use fresh batteries to ensure they have full power.
- Verify the batteries are inserted correctly in the compartment.
Power cycle the TV.

Completely power off your TV and restart it. Use the physical power button to switch off your TV, then unplug it from the power source. Wait for at least 30 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on again.
Perform an IR signal test.

Examine the IR emitter. The IR light on a Roku remote is purple and visible in a dark room. You can also use your smartphone's camera or a digital camera to test
- Point the remote at your camera while pressing the Power button. Look for a colored light on your camera screen.
- If you don't see the light, the remote might be defective.
Remove any obstructions.

Ensure nothing is blocking the TV's IR sensor. This is the Infra-Red sensor located at the center bottom of your TV. If an object, such as a router or game console, is in the way, move it to a different spot.
Aim the remote directly at the sensor.

Hold the remote close to the sensor. If you're too far away, the IR signal may not be detected.
- If the remote only works when you're close, you may need to buy a new one with a stronger signal.
Re-sync your remote.

Reconnect your remote. For enhanced remotes, there's a pairing button inside the battery compartment.
- Open the battery compartment.
- Locate the button at the bottom-right of the compartment.
- Press and hold the button for 3 seconds. The LED on the left will begin flashing.
- Reboot your TV.
- Wait for the TV to detect the remote.
Buy a replacement remote.

Get a new remote. If nothing else works, it’s time to purchase a replacement. You can find remotes for any Roku TV model on the Roku website.
- If you need further assistance, you can reach out to Roku through their support page.
