Quickly mute Time Sensitive Notifications on your iPhone or iPad
Tired of seeing those "Time Sensitive" alerts from apps like Instagram, Grubhub, or Snapchat? You can easily switch them off. Whether they're bypassing Do Not Disturb or just interrupting too much, here's how you can disable Time Sensitive Notifications on your device.

Detailed Steps
How to Turn Off Time Sensitive Notifications in Your Apps
Launch the Settings app. Look for the gear-shaped icon.
- This method lets you stop Time Sensitive Notifications from apps like Instagram or Snapchat.
Select Notifications. You'll find it a few sections down.
Choose an app. Under Notification Style, you'll see a list of all your apps.
- If you want to stop all notifications from this app, just switch off Allow Notifications.
- To turn off Time Sensitive Notifications for more apps, hit the back arrow, pick another app, and toggle the option off.
Turning Off Time Sensitive Notifications in Focus Mode
Launch the Settings app. Look for the gray gear icon.
- If you want to stop Time Sensitive Notifications from bypassing Do Not Disturb or Focus Mode, you can disable them right in the Focus settings.
Select Focus. It's listed a few sections down the screen.
Tap on a Focus Mode. If you only see Do Not Disturb, tap it to continue.
Tap Apps. It's the option on the right side.
Turning Off All Notifications
Launch the Settings app. Look for the gear icon.
- This method will disable all notifications. If you'd prefer to temporarily silence all notifications, consider using Do Not Disturb or another Focus mode.
Tap Notifications. You'll find this a few sections down, next to a red icon with a white alarm bell.
Select an app. To completely disable notifications, go through each app in the list and turn off its notifications individually.
- Press the back arrow to go back to the previous screen.
Repeat this for every app. Once you turn off notifications for all apps, you won't receive notifications from them anymore.
- Although it's not recommended, you can disable government alerts. Scroll down to the bottom of the Notifications page and toggle off every alert under the Government Alerts section.
- This includes: AMBER Alerts, Emergency Alerts, Public Safety Alerts, and Test Alerts.
What Are Time Sensitive Notifications?
Time Sensitive Notifications are urgent messages that need immediate attention. You can receive these notifications within the Messages app and from third-party social media apps like Snapchat. Even when you're in a Focus mode, they can come through.
- As app developers determine what counts as urgent, you cannot manually mark a notification as time-sensitive.
- When Focus modes like Do Not Disturb or Sleep are activated, all notifications are paused by default. However, you can still allow critical or urgent messages to be delivered. If you find the notifications distracting, you can turn off Time Sensitive Notifications while in Focus mode.
