Understanding BeReal's Behind the Scenes Feature

Behind the Scenes captures a few seconds of footage before your photo. This newer BeReal feature is similar to Apple’s Live Photo, recording a short video snippet right before your snap. Once posted, your friends can view those brief moments leading up to your shot.
How to Use the Behind the Scenes Feature

Tap the BeReal notification when it’s your time to post. This will instantly open the BeReal app and activate the camera.

Ensure BTS On is activated. This setting is typically on by default, but double-check the top-right corner of your screen. If it says “BTS Off,” tap to turn it on.

Snap your BeReal. Just press the big circle button to take your photo.

Hold down your BeReal preview to view the BTS clip. Press and hold on your BeReal preview to watch the Behind the Scenes moment.

Tap Post BeReal. This will publish your BeReal with the Behind the Scenes video included.

Press and hold BTS On on a friend's post to view their BTS. When scrolling your feed, hold down the BTS On icon on a friend’s BeReal to watch their Behind the Scenes clip—if it’s enabled.
- If they didn’t use BTS, the icon won’t appear.
