UFO sightings are reported across the globe, but some of the most fascinating accounts come from entire groups of witnesses who experienced a strange event together. For reasons unknown, schools often seem to be hotspots for these sightings.
Some UFO enthusiasts speculate that extraterrestrials find young schoolchildren less intimidating, making them easier to approach with their messages from outer space. Could this be the result of vivid imaginations? A shared delusion? Or have these children genuinely encountered beings from another world?
10. Ariel School

In 1994, a group of 62 students from Ariel Elementary School in Zimbabwe were outside during their recess while the teacher was inside. The children heard a sharp whistling sound, followed by a flash of light. A silver UFO descended in the schoolyard, and several extraterrestrial beings emerged from the craft.
The children were frozen in place, unable to move. All they could do was gaze into the aliens' large, dark eyes. As the aliens communicated with them telepathically, vivid images flashed in the children's minds. One girl shared that the aliens had warned her that humanity was neglecting the planet, and the world was on the brink of destruction. She saw images of dying trees and the Earth’s oxygen supply running out. Once the aliens departed, the children regained their ability to move. They began screaming and rushed back to the schoolhouse to tell their teacher what had occurred.
Dr. John Mack, a psychiatrist from Harvard University, traveled to the Ariel School to interview the students and teachers. All interviews were recorded on video. Dr. Mack asked each child to draw their impressions of the aliens and the craft. Their stories and drawings were identical. Drawing on his extensive psychiatric experience, Dr. Mack was confident that the children were not lying or delusional. He fully believed their account. Even as adults, all of the children still insist that what they saw was real and that the aliens were trying to deliver a message to humanity.
9. Hillsdale College

In March 1966, a female student at Hillsdale College in Michigan was leaving her dorm when she noticed a large glowing disc hovering above the campus. She immediately contacted the police, and Officer William Van Horn arrived on the scene. Around 100 students emerged from the dorm to witness the UFO. The glowing object then moved toward a nearby swamp before ascending into the sky.
After receiving Officer Van Horn's report, Dr. Hynek, a representative from the US Air Force, arrived to investigate. During a press conference, he claimed to have found no evidence of a spacecraft and suggested that the students had observed 'burning swamp gas.' His statement sparked public outrage, prompting a more detailed investigation. When Dr. Hynek tested the soil near the swamp, he found unusually high levels of radiation and boron, an element used in nuclear energy. Despite this, Dr. Hynek dismissed the findings, suggesting the students' sighting might have been a prank involving fireworks.
8. Elder Park Primary

In 1952, in Glasgow, Scotland, Joan Torrence was walking home from Elder Park Primary School with her friends. It was 4:00 PM on a bright summer day, and the Sun still blazed in the sky. Joan had just crossed the playground when the sky suddenly grew dark.
Her friends appeared oblivious, continuing their walk. Joan turned around and looked back at the school, only to see a large sombrero-shaped silver saucer hovering above the building. It was so massive that it blocked the sunlight. The janitor and one teacher stepped outside, gazing up at the UFO as well. Joan felt paralyzed, unable to move. As the UFO started spinning, time seemed to freeze. In an instant, she heard a whistling sound, and the ship shot back into the sky. When Joan arrived home, she told her mother about the experience, but her mother didn’t believe her. The following day, the local newspaper reported that other townspeople had seen a flying saucer.
7. Broad Haven Primary School

In 1977, at Broad Haven Primary School in Wales, all sports activities came to an abrupt halt as a group of boys stared in awe at a silver craft with a dome in the center. The craft had landed across the field from the schoolyard. The boys saw a figure walking outside the craft, but he was too far away to discern his facial features.
As the UFO flew off, the boys rushed back to school, excitedly recounting the event to the headmaster. He urged them to calm down and interviewed each boy individually. Every boy drew a picture of the UFO, and all their stories were consistent. However, the boys weren’t the only witnesses.
Rosa Granville, a local resident of Broad Haven, saw the craft land at her hotel, which sat on the edge of a cliff overlooking the sea. She got close enough to observe faceless humanoid figures inside the craft. Shortly after, she developed a red rash resembling radiation burns on her face, and the ground where the UFO had landed showed signs of being scorched. A few days later, two men in black suits arrived and questioned her.
Years after Rosa passed away, her daughter, Francine, was preparing to sell the hotel when local media requested an interview about her mother's UFO sighting. Francine had never known her mother had witnessed such an event, as Rosa had never mentioned it. Francine described her mother as a serious, level-headed woman who would never lie about something like this.
6. Westall High School

In April 1966, during a physical education class at Westall High School in Melbourne, Australia, students were outside when they noticed a silver disc soaring above them. The disc moved with such speed that it seemed to teleport, then would hover completely still. Some students rushed inside to tell their friends, and soon over 200 witnesses, including both students and teachers, gathered outside to watch the UFO. Eventually, the craft descended into the woods, then shot back up, turned on its side, and vanished in a burst of light.
The students and teachers at Westall High weren’t the only ones who witnessed the event. A local resident rushed to the area in the woods where the UFO seemed to have landed. He found a large circle where the grass had been flattened, indicating something heavy had recently touched down. When he returned to the site for a second visit, he encountered armed military personnel who were using a Geiger counter to measure radiation. According to National Geographic, government flight records from that day have been erased, leaving no definitive answer about the true nature of the silver disc.
5. Greenock Elementary School

In 1948, a nine-year-old girl named Linda was walking home from school with a friend during her lunch break in Greenock, Scotland. They heard an odd buzzing sound and looked up to see several flying saucers in the sky. The UFOs were so low that they could make out occupants inside, though their features were unclear. Rather than feeling scared, they acted as any child would around a low-flying airplane or hot-air balloon: they waved and jumped excitedly. To their surprise, the aliens waved back.
Linda recalls that the UFOs followed them on their walk home, as though they were being observed. After a while, the UFOs flew off and vanished. This might sound like a story a child would invent for attention, but in 1948, it seems unlikely that a nine-year-old girl would have known what a stereotypical UFO looked like.
4. Aberdeen Elementary

Jane Freeman was playing at her school in Scotland when she noticed a silver flying disc high in the sky. There was nothing unusual about the event, and no one else witnessed it. The UFO soon flew off. Although she had never thought about such things before that moment, she suddenly became deeply interested in space and began seeking knowledge about extraterrestrial life.
Several years later, after her family had moved to a new home in England, Jane was woken in the middle of the night by a noise. Looking out the window, she saw a UFO that resembled 'a swollen pancake.' Eagerly, she ran outside and encountered an alien who appeared as a human man dressed in a black suit. As an adult, Jane claimed that the same humanoid beings visited her again multiple times. Her descriptions of the encounters closely matched those of other self-proclaimed abductees, although there were no other witnesses to her experiences.
3. Crestview Elementary School

The National UFO Reporting Center was founded in 1974 to document UFO sightings that were often dismissed by mainstream media. One such case occurred in Miami, Florida, at Crestview Elementary School in 1967.
According to one observer, more than 100 children and teachers were outside during recess when three oval-shaped flying saucers emerged from the clouds. One UFO was as large as a cruise ship, while the other two were much smaller. The teachers, unsure of what to do, were in a state of panic. The larger ship landed in a field near the school, while the other two vanished from sight. The children were quickly instructed to run home immediately.
A few of the students hopped on their bikes and, instead of heading home, pedaled as fast as they could toward the site where the UFO had landed. Upon arriving, they found no aircraft, but the ground was scorched, and the grass had been flattened. The following day, government officials arrived to survey the area, while reporters from the Miami Herald interviewed the boys who had ridden their bikes. However, instead of reporting the boys' UFO accounts, the newspaper suggested that three helicopters had startled the teachers and students.
2. Whippingham Primary School

In 1967, two boys at Whippingham Primary School on the Isle of Wight were outside when they noticed ash and sparks falling from the sky around 8:45 AM. Looking up, they spotted a large UFO, which appeared 'milky white' as it reflected the clouds around it, blending into the sky. Throughout the day, the boys saw the UFO hovering and moving slowly. It seemed to be struggling, losing altitude and pausing intermittently. Eventually, it ascended and flew away.
On the bus ride home, one of the boys noticed a cornfield across from the school. The stalks were bent down, as though something had crashed into the field. The boys told their parents, who then contacted the police. Investigators examined the cornfield and discovered crop circles arranged in a vortex pattern.
1. St. Mark’s Primary School

In 1978, a group of children were playing outside at St. Mark’s Primary School in Glasgow, Scotland, when they saw a silver UFO floating above them. One of the boys, Euan Riley, described the object as looking like 'two fedora hats joined together.' Unlike many other UFO sightings, this one was relatively small, measuring just 1.2 meters (4 feet) across. None of the teachers witnessed the sighting, and when the children tried to report it, they were dismissed as simply having wild imaginations.
In 1993, Riley gave an interview to a local newspaper, where he reaffirmed that the UFO he saw that day was real. The experience left such a lasting impact on him that the image of the UFO remained vivid in his mind even after all those years.
