California has long been a hotspot for UFO activity, so the theory that a structure found 600 meters (2,000 ft) underwater, 10 kilometers (6 mi) off Malibu's coast, might be an alien base wasn’t entirely shocking. The anomaly features a clear oval shape with a flat top, spanning roughly 5 kilometers (3 mi) in width. It also appears to have evenly spaced pillars supporting its main “roof,” resembling some kind of entrance.
The supposed alien base first gained public attention when Jimmy Church, host of the radio show Fade To Black, followed up on a tip from a listener named “Maxwell.” Maxwell provided Google Earth coordinates pointing to what he believed was an artificial structure. Church and his team gathered multiple angles of the anomaly and concluded it was likely man-made, even calling it a potential “holy grail” for UFO researchers.
However, not everyone agrees with this theory. Earthquake geologist David Schwartz argues that the structure is probably just part of the continental shelf, seeing nothing extraordinary in the images. Ben Hansen, a former FBI agent and visual analysis expert, also cautioned against overinterpreting Google Earth images, noting they are composites from various sources and can often be deceptive.

Frequent reports of unusual lights emerging from and diving into the waters around Puffin Island, Wales, have led some UFO researchers to speculate about an underwater alien base in the area. A series of sightings in early 1974 particularly intrigued investigators, with witnesses describing not just lights but solid objects seen exiting the sea near the island.
UFO researcher Phil Hoyle mentioned that he has encountered numerous independent reports about Puffin Island, all of which describe similar phenomena. He added that individuals claiming to have been abducted near the area reported encountering humanoid beings who allegedly stated they originated from an underwater base close to the island. Some theories even suggest the area might be linked to the ancient mythical kingdom of Cantre’r Gwaelod, with these humanoids being its descendants.

In December 2013, MUFON released a report from a Hamilton resident who reported seeing glowing orbs hovering above Lake Ontario. The witness claimed to have observed these orbs multiple times before and suggested the presence of an underwater alien base. This claim is not unique, as others have made similar assertions.
In August 1981, five individuals driving near Lake Ontario witnessed a dome-shaped craft flying over the water. They tracked its movement until it descended into the lake and vanished. The 2012 book Underground Alien Bases, authored by the enigmatic “Commander X,” has further fueled the myth of an alien base beneath the lake. It includes numerous accounts of sightings on and around the lake, along with claims of an underwater alien stronghold. However, the lack of secondary verification leaves the reliability of these accounts open to skepticism.
7. Flight Path to Underwater Base - North Island, New Zealand
North Island in New Zealand has seen numerous reports of unusual objects entering the sea, with activity extending to nearby offshore islands. UFO researchers highlight the area as a hotspot, with locals suggesting it serves as a flight route to an underwater base for these mysterious crafts.
From January to March 1995, there were numerous sightings of these objects in the area, occurring both day and night. Many witnesses reported seeing the objects during daylight hours, adding to the intrigue.
A notable daylight sighting on March 9, 1995, involved two fishermen who observed a bright, silver, spherical craft glowing and emitting a red trail. The object disappeared within 10 seconds. Minutes later, control towers at Hamilton International and Rotorua Airports reported similar sightings. Additionally, local residents called a radio station to describe a nearly identical object in the clear sky, corroborating the event.

For the alleged underwater alien base in the Pacific Ocean, mainstream science offers an explanation even more peculiar than UFO theories. A research team led by Simon Baumann-Pickering suggests that the mysterious low-frequency hum, which has sparked speculation about underwater bases for over 20 years, is simply marine life expelling gas from their swim bladders—essentially, underwater flatulence. UFO researchers largely dismiss this explanation.
The enigmatic hum has been analyzed and debated since 1991, when it was first detected by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). UFO enthusiasts argue that the sound resembles that of electrically powered artificial structures rather than natural phenomena. They believe this supports the existence of secret underwater bases, likely extraterrestrial, given the advanced technology needed to construct and maintain such facilities.
Alternative theories propose that the humming could originate from marine vessels or an unidentified geological phenomenon.
5. Mysterious Lights and Noises in Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico has long been a hotspot for UFO sightings, especially along its northeastern coast, where unusual crafts have been observed entering and exiting the water for years. The island also hosts a significant US Navy presence, with locals and expats alike claiming that the military is closely monitoring the strange activities in the coastal waters.
Renowned ufologist Nick Redfern shared an account from a former civil defense worker who witnessed a peculiar craft rising from the ocean off Puerto Rico's coast. The object ascended slowly before accelerating at high speed. Redfern also received a report from a local police officer, who mentioned that the US Navy had extensively tracked an underwater craft along the island's northeastern shoreline.
Many theories suggest that Puerto Rico's coastline harbors underwater alien bases, with investigative journalist Jorge Martin providing some of the most detailed claims. Using NOAA satellite imagery, Martin identified anomalies around the island that indicated artificial structures. He described these structures as unusually large, perfectly rectangular, and primarily located on the eastern and southern coasts. Martin also noted what appeared to be tunnels connecting these structures to each other and even to the mainland.
In the late 1980s, residents of Ponce, Puerto Rico, reported hearing loud rumbling noises seemingly emanating from underground. The sounds, resembling those of heavy machinery, persisted for several days before ceasing. Interestingly, Martin's alleged tunnels connected to the mainland, with Ponce being one of the locations linked to these mysterious pathways.

Lake Titicaca, straddling the borders of Peru and Bolivia, is not only the highest navigable lake in the world but also a hotspot for UFO activity. Some believe it houses an advanced, possibly ancient, alien base beneath its serene waters.
The ancient city of Tiwanaku, one of the world's oldest cities, lies on the southeastern shore of Lake Titicaca. UFO researchers, especially ancient astronaut theorists, argue that the city's advanced agricultural, irrigation, and astronomical systems, along with sophisticated architectural techniques, point to the presence of an extraterrestrial race. Artifacts and statues found near the lake depict Mesopotamian underwater gods, which some claim represent an alien civilization that once thrived beneath the lake.
A recent YouTube video captured by a group of Italians on a spiritual journey in the region shows a large, disc-shaped object moving slowly beneath the calm, blue waters of Lake Titicaca. The object maintained its shape as it moved, suggesting it was a solid structure rather than a natural phenomenon.
If an ancient alien base exists beneath Lake Titicaca, this video might indicate that it remains active to this day.
3. Lake Baikal—Site of an Underwater Alien Encounter
Lake Baikal in Siberia, the world's deepest lake, has a rich history of UFO activity, including reports of alien sightings beneath its waters by Russian military divers.
These accounts trace back to the Soviet era, but details have only recently become public. Witnesses describe a massive “mothership” hovering over the lake and humanoid figures in glossy suits descending from the craft into the water.
Vladimir Azhazha, a former Soviet naval officer and ufologist, allegedly leaked classified documents about a 1982 incident. He reported that military divers on routine training exercises encountered massive underwater craft moving at unprecedented speeds.
Days later, the situation grew stranger when divers encountered unusual beings underwater. These entities wore glossy suits and what seemed to be advanced breathing apparatus. According to the leaked files, the divers were ordered to capture the beings but were repelled by a high-tech sonar weapon, which killed three of the seven divers. The survivors, injured and frightened, retreated and reported the incident to their superiors.
In 2009, images from the International Space Station appeared to reveal two saucer-shaped anomalies near Lake Baikal, reigniting theories of an extraterrestrial presence. Some speculate these could be the same craft witnessed by Soviet divers nearly 30 years earlier.
2. Surge in UFO Sightings at Lake Erie, Cleveland, Ohio
Lake Erie, one of North America's Great Lakes, has a rich history of mysterious lights and unexplained events. In recent years, the Cleveland, Ohio, area has seen a notable rise in UFO sightings.
The 2011 book Eerie Erie: Tales of the Unexplained from Northwest Pennsylvania by Robin Swope delves into numerous MUFON reports, many of which describe UFOs seemingly crashing into Lake Erie. One notable account from 1988 involves a strange craft landing on the frozen lake, witnessed by Sheila and Henry Baker. They reported the incident to the Coast Guard, describing unusual sounds from the ice and blue and red lights emanating from the craft. Triangular objects were also seen moving deliberately across the icy surface before the craft and objects vanished, suggesting they submerged beneath the ice.
A 2007 report on Cleveland's News Channel 5 highlighted at least 20 UFO sightings in the area over two years. Numerous YouTube videos claim to capture these UFOs. Local UFO researcher Richard Lee noted that the sightings often coincide with new construction projects, raising questions about whether these crafts originate from an alleged base beneath Lake Erie.
1. Underwater Alien Base Near Guantanamo Bay
A former US Marine who served at Guantanamo Bay in the late 1960s claimed there is an underwater alien base near the Cuban coast. He also alleged that the US military filmed several UFOs entering and exiting the water. According to him, personnel were strictly forbidden from discussing the unusual activities they observed.
The Marine described the craft as having a dull metallic appearance with blue lights. As the objects submerged, the lights grew dimmer, indicating they were descending deeper into the water.
Interestingly, around 140 kilometers (90 mi) north of Guantanamo Bay in Gulf Breeze, Florida, similar UFO sightings have been reported, matching the Marine’s descriptions. This has led to speculation that the crafts may originate from the same underwater base.
In November 1987, Ed Walters reported seeing a strange craft emitting a bright blue light that immobilized him. He managed to photograph the object, and hundreds of witnesses corroborated his account.
The credibility of Walters’ story is debated. While MUFON considered the sighting genuine, skeptics dismissed the photos as fakes. Years later, a model resembling the craft Walters described was found in a house he once lived in. Supporters argue the model was planted to discredit him.
