Saturn, with its awe-inspiring rings, is the sixth planet from the Sun and the furthest one visible to the naked eye from Earth. Apart from Mars, Saturn is also the planet most associated with strange and bizarre conspiracy theories about its true nature or mission. These often link to forgotten ancient wisdom and recently uncovered natural phenomena.
Saturn has always held a prominent role in ancient civilizations. As more space probes venture past this colossal cosmic giant in our modern age, both its allure and its mysteries continue to deepen. The same goes for the outrageous conspiracies connected to it.
10. The Enigmatic Hexagon of Saturn

During the Voyager missions in the 1980s, a strange hexagonal shape was discovered at the polar regions of Saturn. The design appeared unnervingly precise, leading some to believe that it might be artificially created due to its exact measurements and perfectly straight edges.
The images—and the accompanying theories—remained largely forgotten for nearly twenty years until the Cassini spacecraft passed by Saturn in the summer of 2004. The new images were sharper and of higher quality.
However, these images failed to provide a solid explanation for the ‘Mega Hex.’ More specifically, they didn’t offer a convincing alternative to those who refused to accept the cloud pattern explanation proposed by NASA.
Some claim that the hexagonal structure is proof of intelligent design, possibly from an ancient civilization. Theories suggest it could be a monitoring station or even an interstellar fueling station, as both Hydrogen and Helium-3 are abundant on Saturn and could be utilized for space travel.
9. Naturally Occurring Radio Waves

When NASA, through the Cassini probe, recorded radio waves beyond the range of human hearing, they quickly discovered that the signals were coming from within Saturn’s atmosphere—essentially from the planet itself. NASA converted the sounds into audible frequencies and shared them online. While the agency claimed that the radio waves were naturally occurring, the exact cause or explanation remains a mystery.
A passionate listener and digital audio specialist, Jost Van Dyke, adjusted the pitch of the recordings. Upon revisiting them, he thought he detected distinct patterns within the radio waves, leading him to believe that these waves were not natural but rather deliberate communication.
Soon, various theories and interpretations flooded social media about what the supposed alien message could be saying. One translation suggested, “You people are urged to drop the Earthly impulse!” Take from that what you will.
8. It Used To Be A Sun

Numerous ancient texts seem to describe Saturn as if it were once a sun. For instance, ancient Babylonian scriptures refer to Saturn as “the ghost of a sun!” The Maya also suggested that the Sun we observe today is not the same as the one from the earliest times.
In the book Saturn, The Ancient Sun God, author David Talbott explores the apparent mix-up between Saturn and the Sun in ancient records, proposing that it might not have been confusion at all. Talbott argues that throughout history, many cultures have specifically referred to Saturn as 'the best sun, the primeval sun, the central sun!'
Some conspiracy theories suggest a strong connection between Saturn and the elite, secret societies that are believed to venerate the Sun or Sun God (the basis for which they claim all major religions are founded). If Saturn was indeed a star—and the central Sun of antiquity—then its significance to these secret groups and their mysterious rituals may become clearer.
7. Immanuel Velikovsky’s Double-Star Theory

Immanuel Velikovsky’s book Worlds in Collision, published in 1950, sparked outrage among mainstream scientists, historians, and scholars due to his unconventional views on world history. His work was largely dismissed. However, over time, many of his theories have been partially validated.
One notable example was his prediction about the extreme heat of Venus, which was ridiculed at the time. Yet, later technological advancements and probes confirmed that Velikovsky was entirely correct.
Velikovsky also suggested that outer planets like Saturn and Jupiter were capable of generating their own heat instead of depending on the Sun for warmth. Not only has this claim been corroborated, but it also hints, even if subtly, that Saturn may have once been a star.
Velikovsky believed this to be true, further asserting that both Jupiter and Saturn might have belonged to a double-star system. Given Saturn's significance in ancient cultures, Velikovsky proposed that Saturn was likely closer to Earth and much larger than Jupiter during those times.
In fact, this theory suggesting that Saturn and Jupiter once formed a double-star system brings us smoothly to the next outlandish idea regarding the ringed planet.
6. Saturn Triggered ‘The Flood’

The existence of the Flood is still widely debated by many. However, according to Velikovsky’s findings, not only was it likely a real event, but Saturn and its massive cosmic companion, Jupiter, were responsible for it.
In his book Worlds in Collision, Velikovsky proposed that Saturn and Jupiter once drifted very close to each other, following orbital paths that were drastically different from those they currently follow. He went on to theorize:
Imagine that two celestial bodies, like Jupiter and Saturn, were to approach each other closely enough to trigger violent disturbances and immense tidal effects within their atmospheres. As a double star or binary system, their interaction could potentially escalate to the point where, under the right conditions, the combination of these two bodies might lead to a stellar explosion.
Velikovsky proposed that this event realigned the planets, bringing them close to their current positions, triggering a series of events that led to massive flooding on Earth.
From the perspective of ancient astronaut theory, if we accept the possibility that Velikovsky's theories are correct, this would align with the idea that the Anunnaki (the supposedly dominant extraterrestrials on Earth in ancient times) were aware of the planetary movements (or stars?). Consequently, they would have had advance knowledge of the consequences on Earth.
5. It’s Actually Nibiru

There are claims that a mysterious planet, often referred to as “Planet X,” is about to appear in our skies any day now. Of course, it has yet to materialize and fulfill the ancient prophecy of its return. However, some theorists suggest that Nibiru may actually be Saturn, just known to us by a different name.
Nibiru is believed to have a “winged” appearance in the sky. In his series The Earth Chronicles, Zecharia Sitchin suggests that this was caused by oxide clouds trapped in the planet's atmosphere, creating a wing-like effect as Saturn moved along its orbit.
But could these wings actually be Saturn's rings? Is it possible that some individuals, particularly those unfamiliar with the concept, might mistake the rings for wings?
4. Intense Electrical Activity in Saturn’s Rings

When Voyager 2 passed by Saturn, especially one of its main rings, it began to detect a constant “pop” sound, later identified as pulsating bursts of energy. Further analysis revealed them to be “crackling, lightning-like discharges of electricity!”
Dr. Joseph Romig, a member of the Voyager astronomy team, explained that these charges were 10,000 times more powerful than the lightning we experience on Earth. Each burst (or “pop”) contained between 100 to 1,000 megawatts of energy, which is three times the typical output of a standard power plant at full capacity.
While no definitive explanation could be provided for the unusual phenomenon, Romig suggested that the electrical charges could have been caused by “interactions with surrounding dust particles!” Decades later, in 2016, a controversial conspiracy writer proposed another, even more outlandish explanation.
3. The Black Cube Conspiracy and Its Links to Occultism

Some conspiracy theorists claim that Saturn has connections to occult rituals and beliefs. They argue that the names Satan and Saturn are virtually identical.
In ancient times, the deity El was also represented and identified with Saturn. This leads to the next part of the theory: the worship of the “black cube,” which is said to symbolize Saturn/Satan, El, or both.
The theory proposes that this body of knowledge and belief system has been passed down through the ages by secret societies, which are believed to control modern-day religion, business, and politics.
Conspiracy theorists contend that this explains why the black cube symbol appears on many buildings owned by the global elite. They claim these symbols aren't just decorative, but rather a hidden declaration, placed in plain sight.
Returning to the earlier mention of the “Mega Hex,” the theory also suggests that the black cube symbolizes the dimensions of this cosmic anomaly.
2. The Numerous Saturn Symbols on Earth

Whether it's a coincidence or not, many well-known logos from major corporations, often owned by elite families, seem to be a subtle homage to the ringed planet. At least, that's what conspiracy theorists like David Icke would tell you.
For instance, the 'e' in the Internet Explorer logo seems to feature a ring that resembles Saturn's. Similar designs can be seen in the logos for Boeing and Toyota. Even the iconic Nike Swoosh has been highlighted as representing Saturn's ring.
Another example could be Axis Media Group, whose logo showcases a sphere encircled by two 'rings.' Additionally, the exchange of wedding rings (or bands) is believed by some to have been an ancient way of honoring Saturn.
So what is the reasoning behind all these Saturn-like symbols and even the modern-day veneration of the ringed planet? According to one theory, it’s rooted in the same motivations that have driven history—worship and participation in the occult.
1. It’s A Broadcasting System

David Icke, a researcher and author known for his controversial and often far-out theories, offers an intriguing take on Saturn. According to Icke, Saturn is not just a planet but a massive broadcasting system, emitting electrical waves that create the 'matrix' we all inhabit.
The Moon is thought to function as a sort of projector, amplifying these signals and transmitting them into Earth's atmosphere. As you can imagine, the mainstream scientific community and astronomers have completely dismissed Icke’s claims.
Icke examines various natural phenomena, offering his own interpretation, especially the massive electrical discharges and radio waves emanating from Saturn. He also posits that Earth's 'elite' are fully aware of Saturn's significance and its true history.
