Contrary to forecasts of the publishing industry's decline, books remained highly popular throughout the 2010s. As we approach the end of 2019, here are the top 10 books that dominated sales in the past decade, based on data from LitHub.
LitHub created its ranking of the decade's best-selling books using market trend analysis from NPD Bookscan. The top three spots are occupied by works that began as mature fan fiction for a young adult series that was a best-seller in the 2000s. The Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy, inspired by Twilight, has sold a combined 35 million copies since its release in the early 2010s.
The list also features several titles aimed at younger audiences. Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games, John Green's The Fault in Our Stars, and Veronica Roth's Divergent highlight the young adult genre. Additionally, the list includes the thrillers The Girl on the Train and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, as well as the historical fiction novel The Help.
