My passion for futuristic architecture has always been strong. With the weekend upon us, I spent some time browsing through some extraordinary designs. I've compiled a selection of my top ten favorites for you to enjoy – a refreshing change from text-heavy lists. Here they are – ten remarkable futuristic buildings, some of which are currently under construction or will be in the future. Click on the images to view them in greater detail and let us know which one captivates you most in the comments.
10. Khan Shatyr

The Khan Shatyr is a stunning reality! This massive transparent tent stands proudly in the heart of Astana – the newly established capital of Kazakhstan. It functions as a cultural hub and a gathering place for the city's inhabitants. Astana experiences extremely cold winters, with temperatures plummeting to -35°C (-31°F), making this structure all the more remarkable.
9. Nuragic & Contemporary Art Museum

The Nuragic and Contemporary Art Museum in Cagliari, Italy, hosted a competition to design their new building. The winning proposal, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, is an awe-inspiring creation that spans 12,000 square meters!
8. Hangzhou Waves

The Hangzhou Waves is a proposed design for a five-star hotel and office complex in Hangzhou, China. The project features two buildings that perfectly complement each other. A wealth of additional images showcasing the stunning potential of this hotel can be viewed here.
7. Crescent Moon Tower

Naturally, Dubai couldn't be excluded from the list. The Crescent Moon Tower is a conceptual design for a structure located in Za’abeel Park, meant to symbolize the modern face of Dubai. It will house a library, conference spaces, dining options, and an outdoor observation deck. Just be cautious of the sandstorms!
6. Songjiang Hotel

This extraordinary hotel will be built in a flooded pit at the foot of Tianmashan Mountain in Songjiang, Shanghai. The design seamlessly integrates into the pit's natural form, as you can see here along with other artist renderings of the final vision.
5. Nexus Media Center

The Nexus Media Center is another conceptual design for the United Arab Emirates, a country leading the way in cutting-edge futuristic architecture. This building will primarily serve as a data storage facility, but it will also house a media center, exhibition spaces, offices, residential apartments, and gardens.
4. Beijing International Airport

Beijing Capital International Airport boasts the magnificent Terminal Three (shown above), which was completed in 2009 – just in time for its intended purpose: to accommodate the influx of travelers during the Olympics. It is the largest airport terminal in the world, covering an impressive 986,000 square meters!
3. Dragonfly

The same architect mentioned earlier (Vincent Callebaut) proposed this concept for a vertical farm in New York. The 132-story building would feature two central cores for office spaces and social areas, but the main focus would be the floors connecting these cores, designed to house farms. Whether this project will ever materialize is uncertain, but it certainly presents a captivating vision.
2. Lilypad

In response to the doomsday scenario posed by extreme climate change, a Belgian artist has designed the Floating Ecopolis, also known as Lilypad, which would serve as a refuge for climate change 'refugees.' This self-sustaining city features three mountains and is capable of housing up to 50,000 people (though the fate of the rest remains unclear!). Its ability to float will help it withstand rising sea levels caused by melting polar ice.
1. Gardens of the Bay

The Gardens by the Bay is a stunning urban park located in Singapore. It's already open for visits, so you can explore it right now. Voted the world’s best building, it's easy to see why once you check out some more pictures of it through this link.
