Whenever the idea of reptilians is brought up, most people dismiss it as pure nonsense, often mentioning David Icke and his outlandish theories. While that may seem true to some, numerous ancient texts and mythologies tell of serpent gods and lizard-like beings dwelling deep within the Earth. What's even stranger is that there are still reported sightings of these reptilian humanoids in the present day.
10. The ‘Devil Creature’ of Son Doong Cave
The Son Doong Cave, discovered in 1995, was initially so vast that it couldn’t be explored in its entirety. Standing at 150 meters (492 ft) tall, 200 meters (656 ft) wide, and stretching 6.5 kilometers (4 mi) long, the cave was opened to the public for tours in 2013. Since then, multiple reports have surfaced describing bizarre creatures lurking in the cave's depths.
In January 2015, a YouTube video emerged claiming to show a reptilian creature captured in the cave. The footage was taken by a visitor who described the creature as a “devil creature,” with a humanoid body and a face resembling a “dragon or lizard!” This sighting is particularly intriguing when considered alongside a report from another website about an American military unit stationed near these caves in South Vietnam during 1970.
The report stated that a two-meter (7 ft) tall 'upright lizard humanoid' was seen near the cave entrance. The military unit fired upon the creature, but it appeared to escape without injury, as no remains or traces of a wound were found. The soldier, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed that his unit never received a debriefing on the encounter, which led him to suspect that it was either concealed or never reported.
9. Sonoran Desert, Arizona
While cycling the '24 Hours,' a 27-kilometer (17 mi) trail through Arizona's Sonoran Desert, three cyclists came across an unusual creature during a brief stop. One of the cyclists, Michael, went to the bathroom, while the others spotted a two-meter (6 ft) tall, extremely thin creature that seemed to walk with an 'awkward gait.' Upon Michael’s return, he gasped at the sight, causing the creature to turn its head toward the group.
The creature appeared to be watching them. The cyclists described its eyes as snake-like—black with a yellow stripe down the middle. It was covered in green and red scales and had two holes on its face where a nose would normally be. Around its mouth was a red pattern, and it seemed to lack visible ears. The creature quickly turned and disappeared from sight, leaving the cyclists stunned.
8. The Scape Ore Lizard Man
The Scape Ore Swamp is located in Bishopville, South Carolina—a small town with just a few thousand residents. It is infamous for being the home of a mysterious reptilian creature known as the Lizard Man, who stands around two meters (7 ft) tall with glowing red eyes.
One of the earliest reported sightings occurred in 1988. Christopher Davis, a teenager, was driving near the swamp when his tire blew out. While he was changing the tire, Davis claimed that the creature emerged from the woods and attempted to attack him. The creature was described as having scaly, green skin, long fingers, and sharp claws. Thankfully, Davis was able to escape by getting back into his car and driving off.
As recently as August 2015, Sarah Berra reported another sighting after leaving church, where she spotted a strange figure walking through the woods. Berra even managed to capture photos of the alleged creature. The images were met with widespread ridicule, with one online commenter comparing it to a 'Scooby-Doo villain.' Berra responded, 'My hand to God, I am not making this up.'
Several months before Berra’s sighting, a local man claimed to have seen a dark figure emerge from the woods and cross the Scape Ore Bridge. Additionally, a man captured 24 seconds of footage showing a bizarre creature in the woods near the swamp, but he stopped filming abruptly when it seemed like the creature noticed him. He later revealed that the footage was shot in May 2015 while hunting but kept secret from everyone, including his wife, for fear of being labeled crazy. Only after Berra's report did he decide to share the footage.
Years prior, Bob and Dixie Rawson reported to local media that they found bite and claw marks on their vehicle, with the metal bent 'like a piece of paper.' They also claimed that several of their cats had gone missing recently, and their blankets had been shredded into pieces.
7. The Loveland Frogman
In March 1972, in Loveland, Ohio, two separate encounters occurred with a strange, reptilian creature, which came to be known as the Loveland Frogman. Both sightings were reported by Ohio police officers, and both were met with a great deal of skepticism and ridicule.
At 1 a.m. on March 3, 1972, Officer Ray Shockey was driving along Twightwee Road when he saw what he initially thought was a dog by the roadside. As Shockey pulled over to investigate, the creature stood upright, staring directly at him with its eyes glowing in the headlights. The creature then leaped over the guardrail and headed toward the Little Miami River. Shockey described it as being about one meter (4 ft) tall, with a face resembling a frog or lizard and having leathery skin. He returned later with fellow officer Mark Matthews, but they found no creature, only scrape marks along the riverbank.
Two weeks later, Officer Matthews had his own encounter with the creature while driving on the outskirts of Loveland. Thinking he had spotted roadkill, Matthews pulled over intending to move it off the road. However, as he exited his car, the creature rose into a 'crouched position like a football player' before heading toward the guardrail. Matthews said the creature kept eyeing him until it vanished over the edge. He fired his weapon at it but missed, and by the time he looked again, the creature was gone. When investigators Ron Schaffner and Richard Mackey revisited the case in 2001, Matthews expressed doubts about the encounter.
6. The Honey Island Swamp Monster
Often called the Louisiana Wookie, this elusive swamp creature has been spotted since 1963. Honey Island Swamp is considered one of the largest untouched natural areas in the United States, offering a sanctuary for a variety of wildlife. It spans over 283 square kilometers (110 sq mi).
The first notable sighting occurred in 1974 when Harlan Ford and Billy Mills claimed to have found several wild boars with their throats torn open. They also discovered claw-like footprints with webbed feet, one of which Ford cast into a plaster mold. Louisiana State University experts and the state Wildlife Commission examined the mold, confirming its authenticity but unable to identify the creature. Given the depth of the print, the creature was estimated to weigh around 181 kilograms (400 lbs). Legends describe the creature’s eyes as red and reptilian, and aside from the webbed feet, it is said to have a tail and stands around two meters (7 ft) tall.
A video filmed by Harland Ford emerged in the late 1980s, several years after his death. This footage led some investigators to propose that the creature in question wasn’t reptilian but more likely a Sasquatch or Bigfoot.
5. Reptilian Photographed In Vehicle
In April 2015, an unidentified man claimed to have not only witnessed a reptilian humanoid but also managed to capture a photograph of it inside a moving Kia Spectra. The man took the photo while driving behind the vehicle and later claimed that upon closer inspection, he could see a reptilian face staring back at him from the car’s rearview mirror.
At first, he reported the incident to MUFON (Mutual UFO Network) and shared his photographs with them. He explained that he had initially intended to photograph the “Monster” decal on the car’s rear. It wasn’t until he reviewed the image later that he realized he had captured something far more extraordinary.
He stated that after enhancing the contrast of the photograph, he was able to distinguish heavy eyelids and scaly protrusions on the creature's forehead, which suggested that the figure appeared to be frowning. He mentioned that he took the photo in February 2015, but it wasn’t until several weeks of close examination that he decided to share it and his account with MUFON.
4. Men In Black Turn Into Reptilians
An event, thought to be the first recorded reptilian sighting outside the United States, occurred in 1980 in São Paulo, Brazil. The account was provided by Antonio Huneeus, a well-respected science journalist with extensive contacts in South America, who was always informed about strange occurrences in the region.
Months before the event, the witness reported being followed by three men dressed in black suits. One evening, a dark vehicle arrived at his home, and against his will, he was forced into the car, which drove him to a secluded area. The car stopped beneath a large hovering object, and the men and the witness exited the car. As they walked beneath the hovering craft, they were enveloped by a beam of light.
Once inside the craft and strapped to a chair, the witness described how the three men seemed to 'shed their skin' and morph into reptilian humanoids, featuring green, scaly skin and heart-shaped heads. At one point, the witness managed to glance into another room on the craft, where he saw human corpses hanging by their feet.
Afterward, his next memory was of being back outside his home. Aside from recalling the creatures discussing impending global events with him, he had no further recollection of the encounter.
3. Judge Turns Into A Reptile
While attending court for a traffic violation, an anonymous man claimed he saw the judge briefly transform into a reptilian creature right before his eyes. He described the transformation as a fleeting change, where the judge’s face shifted from human to reptilian and back within about 10 seconds. Despite the presence of approximately 15 other people in the courtroom, none of them seemed to notice this transformation. The man reported the incident to MUFON, and his court case was postponed. However, when the rescheduled date arrived, a different judge was in charge of the case, and attempts to reach the original judge went unanswered.
There have been reports about a secret underground network of tunnels beneath Los Angeles, believed to be inhabited by 'lizard people.' In 1934, the Los Angeles Times published a front-page article about these tunnels and an excavation led by Warren Schubert. Despite receiving official permission from the city to dig, the project was abruptly halted and the tunnels were sealed shortly after the article was published.
2. Reptilian In The Room
Wes Penre from Oregon recounts his reptilian encounter, which began when he woke up one night to find the room freezing cold. Fully awake, he realized he couldn’t move, feeling paralyzed in his bed. Then, he saw a muscular, green humanoid with red eyes standing in the room with him.
At first, Penre described the creature as demonic, but he soon realized its appearance matched other accounts of reptilian beings. He remembered seeing a spine protruding from its skin, and it stood around two meters (7 ft) tall. Its physique was much more massive and muscular than that of a human. The creature locked eyes with Penre, then suddenly lunged toward him, wrapping its hands around his neck and choking him. Penre recalled hearing growls and roars as the creature attacked.
Penre claimed that the reptilian entity literally 'drained the life force' from his body, consuming it. However, just as suddenly as it appeared, it vanished. Penre described the sound he heard when the creature disappeared as a 'swoosh.' Once the creature was gone, Penre's paralysis lifted, but he says he cannot recall anything else about that night. Although many would attribute this experience to sleep paralysis, Penre firmly rejects that explanation, insisting it was not a dream.
1. The Austrian Cave Reptilians
As a specialist and cave systems investigator in Austria, the Czech Republic, and Poland, Gregor reported encountering a reptilian creature in the ancient salt mines of northern Austria in May 2011. He was about 50 meters (164 feet) underground, collecting cave samples for study when he began hearing strange voices nearby. He paused to listen, but the voices suddenly stopped. Dismissing it, Gregor continued further into the cave until he entered a chamber filled with a foul, rotting smell. As he turned to leave, the voices returned. When he glanced back, he saw that the dark chamber was now illuminated by several lights.
To his shock, Gregor saw that several muscular, lizard-like beings were now standing upright in the chamber, each seemingly wearing some sort of uniform. Their tails swayed behind them as they conversed in a language Gregor couldn't understand, though it vaguely resembled human speech. The creatures appeared unaware of his presence, allowing him to quickly exit the cave and make his way back to the surface.
