
Since 1970, Earth Day on April 22 has been a global platform to highlight environmental challenges and inspire activism. The Earth Day Network organizes worldwide events and activities to mark this significant day.
1. NEW YORK CITY'S POP-UP FOR SUSTAINABILITY AND SOCIAL IMPACT
In New York City, over 70 organizations unite for Earth Day. A standout event, hosted by the Earth Day Initiative and Kargoe (a social shopping app), showcases a pop-up experience featuring brands and organizations dedicated to sustainability and social good. This event will take place near Chelsea Piers on Saturday, running from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
2. EARTH DAY UNITED // COPENHAGEN, DENMARK
Earth Day United
On April 22, Christiansborg Castle Square in Copenhagen will host Earth Day United. The event kicks off with a speech by Angajoq Nattortalissuaq, a Greenlandic shaman, followed by a drumming circle aimed at connecting with the four corners of the world. Participation is free, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own drums or musical instruments. Drumming sessions will occur every 30 minutes for two hours, culminating in an invitation to join the March for Science.
3. EMPOWER EARTH DAY CELEBRATION // LONDON
The Hive in London will host an Earth Day celebration organized by the Gaia Warriors, featuring at least seven bands. This event supports British charities combating climate change and includes environmental speakers, dance, yoga, shamans, and a vegan cafe.
4. EARTH DAY PARADE AND FESTIVAL // VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA

Vancouver will host its 7th annual Earth Day Parade and Festival on April 22, starting at 1 p.m. The festivities begin with a parade, followed by a festival at Grandview Park featuring educational talks and activities until 5 p.m. This event is supported by Youth for Climate Justice Now.
5. GLOBAL UNITY AND REGENERATION GATHERING // LANJARON, SPAIN
New Earth Nation in Lanjarón, Granada, Spain, is organizing a 24-hour Global Unity and Regeneration Gathering. The event includes presentations and workshops on environmentalism, healing, and personal awakening. Attendees can learn about cultivating spirulina pools and creating self-regenerating water systems for home use.
6. EARTH DAY TOKYO // TOKYO, JAPAN

Tokyo’s Earth Day is a two-day event held on April 22 and 23 in Yoyogi Park. Approximately 100,000 attendees are anticipated to participate in family-friendly activities, discover businesses employing sustainable practices, and engage with organizations dedicated to environmental conservation. The event will also feature vegetarian cuisine and performances by socially conscious artists. Entry is free.
7. NURRAGINGY RESERVE NATURE WALKS // SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA
Nurragingy Reserve
is a public park in Doonside, New South Wales, near Sydney. For Earth Day, the park offers a variety of activities, such as four guided nature walks with experts, storytelling sessions, a recycled bike giveaway, and discussions on how to attract frogs and birds to your home garden.
8. EARTH DAY SAN FRANCISCO // SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA
San Francisco’s Earth Day street festival will take place at the San Francisco Civic Center. Highlights include a sustainable chef showcase, an organic food court, an eco-fashion show, DIY workshops, kid-friendly activities, an art gallery, and live music performances. This marks the 46th year of the city’s Earth Day Festival, coinciding with this year’s March for Science.
9. EARTH EXPO // JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA
South Africa celebrates April 22 as International Mother Earth Day. The Rand Show, the largest consumer exposition in the country, runs from April 14-23 in Johannesburg and features Earth Expo, supported by various environmental groups. The expo includes educational forums on nutrition, fashion, technology, and sustainable entrepreneurship, offering insights for those looking to make their businesses more eco-friendly.
10. THE MARCH FOR SCIENCE // UNITED STATES AND BEYOND
Earth Day events will occur across the United States, but the highlight will be the March for Science in Washington, D.C., accompanied by satellite marches in at least 425 global locations. Scientists, students, and science enthusiasts will unite to champion evidence-based policies and environmental conservation. The march is supported by 170 partner organizations, including the Earth Day Network, with participation from numerous European countries as well.
Additional Earth Day festivities will be held in cities like Austin, Los Angeles, St. Louis, Cincinnati, Reno, and likely a location near you.
