Few animals are as instantly recognizable as the kangaroo. Their cuteness is undeniable, and the way they bounce around like they’re on an invisible pogo stick is simply charming, not to mention their adorably unique pouch.
Imagine our surprise when we discovered that these playful creatures are also quite the tricksters. Sure, they’re cute and cuddly, but they’ve got a mischievous side. It might sound unbelievable, but there’s more to these bouncy buddies than just their jumping skills and athleticism. They’ve got plenty of personality and a knack for amusing antics that will keep you laughing.
If you’ve ever encountered one of these creatures, either in person or on screen, you’ll know exactly what we mean. Here are ten side-splitting kangaroo moments that will definitely lift your spirits and leave you in stitches.

Step into the wild, my friend!
When two kangaroos are ready for a good old-fashioned boxing match, it’s best to stay clear. This isn’t for the faint of heart, and definitely not for onlookers.
In this clip, watch as these two kangaroos duke it out, throwing punches until one of them goes down. That’s how kangaroo boxing goes: You fight until you can’t keep going, and then you collapse.
Some may view this as cruelty to animals, but in reality, it's just a playful way for these two kangaroos to bond. Plus, it gives us the perfect opportunity to enjoy some ridiculously funny kangaroo brawls that are far too entertaining to take seriously!
The last kangaroo standing claims the throne!
9. A Showdown: Kangaroo Boxer vs. Human Boxer

You don’t see a boxing coach going up against a kangaroo every day.
Former boxing trainer Cliff Des found himself in a clash with a kangaroo after it approached his dogs. According to him, the kangaroo came out on top. While training his dogs one day, the dogs started barking wildly at something outside the fence. When he went to investigate, he discovered a kangaroo standing on the other side.
A video of the encounter shows him running away from the animal, with his two little dogs barking from behind the fence. He loses his footing and ends up getting stomped by the kangaroo.
Des mentioned that this wasn’t his first encounter with a kangaroo, but it was definitely the most amusing! The boxer joked that the animal might have thought he was a female kangaroo, suggesting it was flirting with him.
8. Zookeeper Throws a Punch at Kangaroo’s Face

Animals play a vital role in our world, and we’re committed to protecting them. However, there are times when they can get a little too wild for comfort.
In Australia, a zookeeper has come under fire for punching a kangaroo in order to protect his dog from an attack. The incident, captured on video, quickly went viral across social media, sparking a heated debate over animal rights and what constitutes abuse.
The person who filmed the incident explained that the zookeeper acted only to defend his dog. Most people would have done the same thing, and a “quick smack in the face” wouldn’t cause any harm to the kangaroo involved.
Kangaroos sporting boxing gloves are comical, but it’s a whole different situation when they knock the ringmaster out of the arena!
7. Can a Kangaroo and a Parrot Form a Friendship?

Ever seen something funnier than a kangaroo? Try a kangaroo who gets freed from its pen by a parrot.
The owners of a kangaroo spotted wandering the streets of a Louisiana town revealed that a mischievous parrot accidentally opened the animal’s enclosure. According to local authorities, Baxter the kangaroo was safely captured and returned home on the morning of Thursday, after being filmed exploring Zachary town in July 2022.
Baxter’s owners run Bird Recovery International, a non-profit dedicated to reintroducing exotic wild birds to their natural habitats. They explained that over a dozen parrots live with Baxter, and one parrot named Thor had figured out how to unlock the kangaroo’s pen.
Under Louisiana law, kangaroos are considered exotic animals and can’t be kept as pets. It’s unclear if Baxter’s owners, who previously ran a zoo, have a special exemption for the kangaroo due to their animal-focused charity.
6. The International Kangaroo

In a hilarious video that quickly gained traction online, a kangaroo was filmed attacking the Russian consulate in Australia. After the marsupial was spotted attempting to enter a building in Canberra, it seems Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky might have gained another unusual ally in his ongoing conflict with Russia.
The kangaroo was captured on camera hopping up to the gates, pausing to inspect what lay ahead. The creature was seen repeatedly kicking at the gates before taking a break.
After a few failed attempts to squeeze through the gaps, the strong and muscular kangaroo tries once more, only to abandon the effort and hop away, looking somewhat comical (though still impressively tough!). Kangaroos, it seems, are not only funny but also quite politically charged.
5. Man Fleeing from Alpha Kangaroo Male… on Crutches

Chris “Brolga” Burns has dedicated over 15 years to working with kangaroos, ever since he rescued his first joey. He later established a kangaroo sanctuary in Alice Springs, Northern Territory. Surrounded by rescued kangaroos, you’d think he’d be an expert in handling these jumpy creatures. After all, his nickname is Kangaroo Dundee.
That’s mostly true for all his rescues—except for Roger. Brolga raised Roger from infancy, essentially becoming the joey’s mother. Now, Roger is no longer intimidated by humans, and this has become an issue because Roger is the alpha male of the group, tipping the scales at an impressive 200 pounds (90 kilograms).
Recently, Brolga needed knee surgery after escaping the aggressive alpha’s wrath and taking a tumble. However, that hasn’t stopped Roger from ensuring his females stay protected whenever Brolga approaches—after all, competition is competition.
4. The Sexy Kangaroo Who Went Viral

Everyone enjoys a viral sensation, but imagine if that sensation involved a charming kangaroo spotted in Adelaide, South Australia?
The internet went crazy for this good-looking kangaroo when it was caught on camera lounging under the sun. Deborah Schutz, who snapped the photo, said it quickly became one of the most-liked images on her account.
Though this kangaroo appears calm, it’s important to remember that if it feels threatened, it can turn aggressive. Schutz notes that kangaroos will go to great lengths to defend themselves in the wild. So, no matter how handsome they look, it’s always best to be cautious when approaching them.
Don’t worry about us. We’re perfectly happy just observing him from a safe distance.
3. Baby Kangaroo Learns a Lesson the Hard Way

You know that feeling when you trip and end up face-first on the ground? Then, you’re stuck tasting what the pavement has to offer? Well, a baby kangaroo experienced something quite similar with dirt.
In the video, a baby kangaroo stands inside its pen. Just moments later, it licks the dirt from the ground with its tongue, and its reaction afterward is absolutely hilarious.
2. Kangaroo Bounces Around on a Trampoline

As the saying goes: you can’t teach an old kangaroo new tricks, but you can definitely get them to give it a try.
A lone kangaroo was spotted bouncing on a trampoline in Australia, in a video posted by Emma Heffernan. The footage shows the animal leaping joyfully on the trampoline, but it became flustered when it realized it had been caught in the act! Given how fast kangaroos can sprint on flat land, it’s no surprise that this startled creature jumped too forcefully off the springy surface.
The kangaroo reportedly escaped unhurt, but this incident highlights the challenges of wildlife and humans sharing space.
While some might speculate that the kangaroo was just practicing its ninja moves, let’s not forget that a kangaroo zombie apocalypse could also be a real possibility!
1. Kangaroo Battles and Loses to a Hammock

Karen Wishart, hailing from South Australia, recently captured a video of an unusually aggressive kangaroo challenging a hammock in her backyard. The baby kangaroo is seen circling the hammock, launching fierce attacks and occasionally getting its feet tangled in the process.
Male kangaroos box to establish their territory or win mating privileges. This could be the young kangaroo's way of honing its combat skills, all while avoiding too much damage to nearby plants—though there’s still some room for improvement in its technique!
It’s easy to forget that kangaroos are wild creatures. They’re adorable and cuddly, which might make you think they’re as tame as your house cat or dog. But they’re far from it! These animals remain wild at their core and are just as mischievous as any other creature out there.
