Stories about UFOs and alien encounters often lean toward the strange and extraordinary. Yet, some tales are so far-fetched that even the most ardent UFO enthusiasts struggle to accept them fully.
While the following ten accounts are likely not entirely credible, there’s still a small chance they aren’t entirely fabricated. So, with a healthy dose of skepticism, here are ten UFO and alien encounter stories that are almost too unbelievable to be true.
10. George Adamski—A Genuine First Encounter That Turned Into Deception?

The first individual on our list is also among the most famous. At one time, George Adamski was widely regarded as the genuine article when it came to contact with extraterrestrial beings. Even now, UFO enthusiasts remain divided over the authenticity of his initial encounters, though many agree that Adamski later concocted additional stories, possibly for fame, profit, or both.
Whether true or not, starting in November 1952, after months of receiving “channeled guidance,” Adamski claimed to have photographed a “flying saucer” (pictured above) from his California residence. By the time he began asserting visits to the Moon, Venus, and other outer space destinations, even his staunchest supporters started to withdraw. If his early claims held any truth, it’s unfortunate that his later fabrications overshadowed them.
9. Elizabeth Klarer Claims to Have Conceived an Alien Child on Another Planet

Around the same period as Adamski’s claims in the late 1950s, Elizabeth Klarer from South Africa asserted not only that she had encountered an alien but also that she traveled to his home planet and bore his child. Skeptics have noted striking similarities between her story and Adamski’s.
Klarer claimed she successfully summoned the alien she named “Akon,” who arrived in a scout ship. They then boarded a larger mothership and journeyed to Meton, Akon’s home planet, located in the Alpha Centauri system, according to Klarer.
However, the child they conceived stayed with Akon on Meton. As expected, this did little to bolster Klarer’s credibility. Despite widespread disbelief, she remained steadfast in her account.
8. Ludwig Pallmann Forms a Bond with an Alien Race

During the mid-1960s, German entrepreneur Ludwig Pallmann asserted that he had uncovered an alien base in Brazil and even managed to communicate with its inhabitants.
Pallmann first encountered one of these enigmatic beings on a train in Bombay (now Mumbai) around 1964. He struck up a conversation, noting the peculiar tone of the stranger’s voice and the striking whiteness of his hair. Later, he met the same individual again, who introduced himself as Satu Ra. Years later, while on a business trip to South America, Pallmann reunited with the alien and even met his family.
Among Pallmann’s many assertions was that the alien visitors were conducting experiments and programs involving “terrestrial fruit,” which they hybridized at their secret bases on Earth. Additionally, he claimed to have received a crystal ring that would glow and warm up whenever the aliens were nearby.
One of Pallman’s most bizarre tales, notable for its human-like elements, involves a disaster that struck an alien vessel on another planet. One of the aliens he had met earlier, named Xiti, was reportedly killed in the incident. Shortly after, coincidentally or not, multiple sightings of a large silver disc were reported near the area where Pallmann claimed the aliens had their base.
Unsurprisingly, while many in the UFO community are familiar with Pallman’s alleged encounter, most remain skeptical and distance themselves from such extraordinary claims.
7. Walter Rizzi Gains Telepathic Powers Following an Alien Encounter

While the details of the encounter aren’t overly sensational, many UFO enthusiasts approach the claims of Walter Rizzi from Bolzano, Italy, with caution. Rizzi shared his story a decade after the supposed incident in 1978.
After pulling over near an underpass to rest, Rizzi woke up to find a disc-shaped craft hovering close to his car. To his alarm, a humanoid figure approached him and communicated telepathically. Interestingly, much like Pallmann’s account, the alien Rizzi encountered explained their interest in Earth’s vegetation, fruits, and minerals, which they valued highly.
Similar to many accounts from that era (though it’s worth noting Rizzi waited ten years before sharing his story), the witness claimed he was warned about an impending disaster that would impact approximately 80 percent of the planet.
6. Carroll Watts Discovers That Aliens Are Monitoring Humanity as We Explore Space

Compared to others on this list, Carroll Watts’s claims might seem less extraordinary. However, many remain skeptical, especially given Watts’s apparent interest in profiting from the sightings, all of which occurred over six months in 1967 in Wellington, Texas.
Watts claimed to have first seen a cigar-shaped craft while driving across his family farm. He approached the low-hovering object and was asked by a voice that was “neither male nor female” if he would consent to a thorough physical examination. If he passed, he would be permitted to join the occupants on a journey into space.
Initially, Watts declined the offer, but in later encounters, he agreed and eventually traveled into space with the extraterrestrials. During this interstellar voyage, he was told that these alien visitors could freely come and go from Earth. More alarmingly, he learned that many alien species were concerned about humanity’s potential expansion into space and the prospect of humans becoming a spacefaring civilization.
5. Howard Menger Reunites with a Past-Life Lover from Venus

Howard Menger, an alleged contactee, claimed he was invited aboard a UFO in the summer of 1956. He asserted that he was taken into space, visited the Moon, and observed alien civilizations and massive structures on its surface.
The already strange encounters took an even stranger turn when a woman named Connie Weber attended one of Menger’s lectures on contact with “space brothers and sisters.” Menger believed that he and Weber had been lovers in a past life on Venus. Acting on this belief, he divorced his wife and began a relationship with Weber.
Even more bizarre was a 1960 television interview in which Menger declared his entire story was fabricated. However, instead of admitting he fabricated it for fame or profit, he claimed he was part of a top secret military experiment to gauge public reaction to alien contact. This assertion, like his original claims, sparked divided opinions.
4. Luciano Galli Ventures into Space During His Lunch Break

In July 1957, Italian businessman Luciano Galli was heading back to work in Rome after lunch when a black car pulled up beside him. The window rolled down, revealing a man with “piercing black eyes” who asked if Galli remembered him.
Galli was about to say no when a flood of memories overwhelmed him, reminding him that he had indeed encountered the strange man before on the streets of Rome. The man invited Galli to join him, and Galli eventually got into the car. They drove to the city’s outskirts, where a “saucer-shaped UFO” awaited. After boarding, the craft soared into the sky.
The UFO transported them to a massive mother ship, which Galli was then shown around. He was later returned to his original location. While many found his story hard to believe (Galli claimed he “didn’t care what people thought”), similar reports from around the world in 1957 added a layer of credibility to his account.
3. Gosta Carlsson Establishes Pharmaceutical Firms After Alien Encounter

Regardless of the credibility of Swedish ice hockey player Gosta Carlsson’s claims, a memorial in Angelholm now commemorates the event.
Carlsson alleged that while walking in the countryside in May 1946, he saw a peculiar saucer-shaped craft land in a nearby field. The occupants exited the craft, communicated with him, and even shared natural remedy formulas.
This encounter proved so impactful that Carlsson founded two pharmaceutical companies. He achieved significant success and became the owner of Sweden’s first professional ice hockey team. Carlsson attributed all his accomplishments to that fateful meeting with extraterrestrials in Angelholm.
Unsurprisingly, many, even within the UFO community, find his story hard to believe in its entirety. Regardless of its truth, the monument stands as one of only two in Europe dedicated to UFO incidents, the other being in Poland to commemorate the Emilicin encounter.
2. Sir Peter Horsley Holds a Conversation with an Alien in a London Living Room

Sir Peter Horsley had a distinguished career in the Royal Air Force (RAF), eventually serving as deputy commander-in-chief of RAF Strike Command. However, after retiring, he published the book Sounds From Another Room in 1997, detailing his encounter with an extraterrestrial being in a dimly lit London room. This revelation led to his near-total ostracism by his military peers.
Horsley claimed that in 1954, he was invited to meet a mysterious figure named “Mr. Janus,” who spoke to him from the shadows of a room. Horsley described feeling as though Janus could read his thoughts and maintained complete control over their conversation. Their discussion focused on Britain’s future nuclear capabilities, with Janus displaying an astonishing depth of knowledge about the British military, seemingly to prove his credibility.
After this encounter, Horsley’s career in the RAF saw a rapid ascent. Whether this advancement was linked to his meeting with Janus remains debatable. Nevertheless, given Horsley’s distinguished reputation, it seems unusual for him to fabricate such a bizarre story without a compelling reason.
1. Hubert Lewis Encounters Venusian Aliens Living Secretly on Earth

Hubert Lewis, a newsagent, claimed that in 1957, while cycling through Church Stretton in Shropshire to collect newspapers, he encountered a disc-shaped craft and its occupants. When a tall figure appeared on the road, Lewis instinctively demanded to know who the stranger was. The figure reassured him that he had nothing to fear.
The two conversed for about 30 minutes, with the metallic disc hovering nearby. As they spoke, the previously strong wind seemed to die down, though Lewis could still hear it faintly, which he found peculiar.
After the encounter, Lewis reported developing psychic abilities. He also claimed that “high-ranking police officers” visited him, urging him to “forget certain matters,” which he initially complied with. However, months later, he encountered the alien beings and their craft again, this time in a field. He was told that the aliens hailed from Venus and were living incognito among humans.
