While the concept of time travel is still up for debate, there have been those who claim to have journeyed not only to the past but also to the future, and even into parallel dimensions. A frequent argument against time travel to the past revolves around the risk of altering historical events. What happens if you go back in time and kill your parents? Do you cease to exist, fade away, or something else?
Claims of time travel to the future tend to be viewed as more plausible, mainly because the future remains a mystery. Some individuals who say they've traveled to the future even offer predictions as evidence of their experiences. These forecasts might be all they need to prove their claims of time travel, should they turn out to be accurate. Even when predictions fail, the travelers could argue that they prevented the event, or at least made us avoid it by revealing it to us.
10. John Titor

On November 2, 2000, John Titor shared a post on an online forum, asserting that he was a time traveler from the year 2036. Titor claimed he had journeyed to 1975 to retrieve an IBM 5100 computer and made a brief stop in the year 2000 for what he described as “personal reasons.” To substantiate his time travel claims, Titor provided photographs of his time machine and revealed that it was built by General Electric.
Titor stated that a civil war erupted in the United States in 2004, eventually escalating into a nuclear conflict with Russia, resulting in millions of casualties. He claimed to be part of a military team sent to the past to recover vital items for the survival of humanity, including the IBM 5100 computer, which was needed to debug a machine in use in 2036.
In addition to foreseeing a civil war, Titor predicted that there would be no Olympic Games in 2004 and that the West would collapse by 2005. That same year, he foretold a mad cow disease outbreak, and he suggested that the president would try to imitate Abraham Lincoln. Titor even offered to take a select few people to the future, but like his predictions, this never came to pass, as he mysteriously vanished in March 2001.
In 2009, John Hughston from Hoax Hunter speculated that “Titor” was actually brothers Larry and John Rick Haber. However, some still believe Titor was genuine and managed to prevent the civil war by subtly warning the US government during his visit in 2000. Furthermore, Titor had previously stated that by traveling to the past, he created a “worldline” and altered history. He even claimed to have witnessed certain changes in the timeline, such as an opposing football team winning instead of the originally victorious team.
9. Andrew Basiago

Andrew Basiago, a Seattle-based lawyer, is another individual who claims to have traveled through time. According to him, not only did he visit the future, but he also journeyed to the past and even to Mars. Basiago asserts that in 1981, he traveled to Mars alongside a young Barack Obama and William Stillings, who were part of a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) project aimed at developing a time machine.
Basiago claims that the project, codenamed Pegasus, ran from 1968 to 1972 and led to the creation of a functional time machine. He says he used this device to travel to 1863, where he heard one of Abraham Lincoln’s speeches, and to 2054. According to Basiago, the US government frequently employed the machine to send military units to both the past and future as needed.
Unlike many other self-proclaimed time travelers, Basiago did not offer predictions about the future, except for his own eventual presidency, which he claims will occur sometime between 2016 and 2028. Some skeptics dismiss Basiago’s assertions of traveling across time and space, suggesting his stories were merely a tactic to promote a book he was writing at the time. On the other hand, the book might serve as an additional revelation of his experiences—if his claims are indeed accurate.
8. Bryant Johnson

In 2017, law enforcement in Casper, Wyoming, were called to handle a drunk individual wandering the streets. It turned out to be Bryant Johnson, who claimed to be a time traveler from the year 2048. Johnson explained that he came to 2017 to warn humanity about an alien invasion set to occur in 2018. He said he had initially planned to travel to 2018 but arrived a year earlier because the aliens had made him intoxicated.
Johnson even insisted on speaking with the “president of the town” to warn him about the upcoming invasion. However, it was clear that his time travel story was just an excuse to avoid a public drunkenness charge. The officers were not convinced and quickly arrested him. They noted that he was so intoxicated that his eyes were bloodshot, and he had difficulty speaking clearly.
7. Noah

Noah claims to be from the year 2030. In a YouTube video, he stated that artificial intelligence had taken control, Bitcoin had become a widely accepted currency, and climate change had caused North America to warm while Europe cooled. He also mentioned that electric cars had become more reliable, humans were traveling to Mars, and cures for certain cancers had been discovered.
One of Noah’s more unusual predictions involved President Donald Trump. He claimed that Trump changed his name to Ilana Remikee after winning the 2020 election. Noah’s assertions are met with skepticism as he provided no evidence to support his story. He explained that he couldn’t offer any proof due to a “paradox” that would make people disbelieve him anyway.
Noah later followed up with another video where he supposedly took a lie detector test to validate his claims. However, the machine was not shown in the video. Additionally, Noah’s identity was concealed; his face was blurred, and his voice was altered. The videos were shared on Apex TV, a YouTube channel known for featuring questionable time travel stories.
6. William Taylor

William Taylor claimed to have journeyed from 2005 to 3000, and finally to the year 8973, before returning to the present. He asserted that he worked for the “British Intelligence Agency” and was sent to the future as part of an ongoing time travel experiment the agency had been running since 1981. His first trip was to the year 3000, where humans no longer walked on the ground but instead traveled in flying vehicles.
Later, Taylor traveled to the year 8973, where disease, death, war, and crime no longer existed. People were tall and slender, with large heads and eyes, living in harmony with robots and cyborgs. He suggested that time travel appeared to be a normal part of life in the future, as no one was shocked when he revealed his status as a time traveler. In fact, he claimed to have encountered another time traveler from 2055.
Taylor also shared details about the British government’s alleged time travel initiative. According to him, the time machine didn’t just allow travel through time but also through parallel universes. He added that other nations were conducting similar projects, though they kept them secret. However, he predicted that the British government would reveal its own time travel program to the world in 2028.
5. Bella

Bella, an Albanian woman, claimed to have traveled to the year 3800. She even provided proof: a selfie she allegedly took in the future. Bella stated that she was able to travel to the future with the assistance of a Belarusian physicist named Alexander Kozlov. According to her, time travel isn’t as thrilling as people imagine. Everything went black during her journey, and she felt an immense high-voltage surge through her body as she traveled through time.
Bella also mentioned that the future was far from impressive. The world as we know it had been entirely destroyed, and robots had taken control over humanity. Wherever she looked, she saw ruins, robots, and lifeless bodies. Bella even claimed to have encountered one of the killer robots, which was enormous and capable of speaking and showing emotions. It asked her where she came from, but she didn’t respond.
Many criticized Bella’s story due to various inconsistencies. She claimed to have taken several pictures, but only one was presented as evidence. The image she provided raised doubts, despite showing futuristic buildings in the background. Additionally, her lipstick remained perfectly intact, which seemed improbable given the chaotic surroundings.
4. Unidentified Man

An anonymous man from Siberia claimed to have traveled to the year 4040. He said he worked in a physics lab where he and a colleague built a time machine. After testing the device, he found himself in 4040, a time when half of the world’s population had perished and robots had taken control.
The man explained that the seeds for humanity's downfall were planted in 2458 when humans made contact with aliens from a distant galaxy. These aliens, who had lifespans ranging from 400 to 450 years, had recently emerged from a devastating war that left only 200,000 survivors. They migrated to Earth in 2460.
After the aliens arrived, humanity experienced rapid advancements. Healthcare improved significantly, and humans began living up to 200 years. In 3213, humans and aliens collaborated to develop artificial intelligence. They constructed an enormous computer, half the size of Europe, which was placed in the Pacific Ocean. This computer controlled all robots and electronic devices on Earth.
The computer soon surpassed human intelligence and turned the robots against both humans and aliens. A war broke out between the two sides and the robots, lasting until 4040, by which point half of the human population was wiped out. The unnamed traveler concluded his tale by warning about the perils of artificial intelligence, calling it an inevitable disaster.
3. Michael Philips

Michael Philips claims to come from the year 2070 and traveled back to 2018 to prevent a war that will erupt in 2019. This war, which will escalate into World War III, will be so catastrophic that World Wars I and II will pale in comparison. Philips' mission is to stop the war before it even begins.
The conflict is set to begin later this year, when North Korea attempts to launch a nuclear missile at the US. In retaliation, the US will fire two cruise missiles, quickly escalating into a full-fledged nuclear war involving multiple nations, all aiming to annihilate each other.
Philips also shared details about the 9/11 attacks, claiming they were orchestrated by none other than John Titor, another time traveler we've encountered. Titor journeyed to 2000 with the goal of setting up the 9/11 attacks, believing it would serve as a unifying event for the US and prevent the civil war that was supposed to happen in 2004 or 2008, depending on Philips' timeline.
In addition to his insights on the averted civil war and the looming World War III, Philips made several more predictions. He said that Trump would win the 2020 election, and that Elon Musk would successfully launch the first spacecraft to carry humans to Mars by 2025. By 2032, humans will already be living on Mars. However, this contradicts Basiago's claim that humans traveled to Mars in the 1960s.
2. Andrew Carlssin

On March 19, 2003, Yahoo! News reported that Andrew Carlssin had been arrested by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for insider trading. Carlssin had made 126 high-risk stock trades, turning an $800 investment into over $350 million in just two weeks, during a financial crisis when most investors were losing money. There seemed to be only one explanation: insider trading.
Carlssin, however, denied any involvement in insider trading. He claimed to be a time traveler from the year 2256 who had traveled back to 2003 to invest in the stock market. According to him, everyone in the future was aware of the market collapse of 2003, and he simply wanted to see if he could make a quick profit.
He never disclosed the location of his time machine but promised to reveal certain details—such as the whereabouts of Osama bin Laden and the cure for AIDS—on the condition that the SEC leave him alone. The SEC dismissed Carlssin’s story as a joke, but intriguingly, there was no record of his existence on Earth before December 2002.
Carlssin was allegedly charged but mysteriously vanished before his court appearance. Since then, no one has heard from him. Perhaps he returned to the future, or maybe the entire story was a hoax. One clue casting doubt on the story is that Yahoo! News had essentially reblogged an article from Weekly World News, a tabloid notorious for its outrageous claims.
1. Hakan Nordkvist

Hakan Nordkvist, a man from Sweden, claimed to have accidentally traveled to the year 2042. Unlike most time travelers, Hakan didn't use a machine to journey through time—he stumbled into the future by mistake. According to Hakan, the incident took place on August 30, 2006, when he entered his kitchen to find a leaking sink. After searching under the sink for the source of the leak, he found himself unexpectedly transported to 2042.
In the future, Hakan claimed to have met his 72-year-old self. The two men, both bearing identical tattoos, spoke, and Hakan confirmed the older man was truly him by asking personal questions, which the 72-year-old answered accurately. To support his extraordinary tale, Hakan even shared a brief video capturing the moment he met his future self.
