Have you outgrown the basic red, blue, and yellow LEGO bricks from your childhood? Are you craving something more unique and captivating? Flex your fingers and visit LEGO Ideas, a platform where you can back innovative designers aspiring to achieve LEGO fame.
Once a design garners 10,000 supporters (simply create an account and click to support), it advances to the LEGO Review stage. Here, a team of LEGO designers and marketing experts may select it for production. While we’ve previously highlighted some popular LEGO Idea sets, many of those have already reached the required support. Now, a fresh wave of creative projects is seeking your backing. Below are 10 LEGO sets we’re excited about.
1. THE BLUES MOBILE
Designer eini1971 presents a LEGO rendition of The Blues Mobile, inspired by the iconic John Landis comedy The Blues Brothers. This set features two microphones with stands, minifigures of Jake and Elwood Blues, and a detailed car interior complete with a speedometer, radio, and a non-functional cigarette lighter.
2. AMELIA EARHART
With just 186 pieces, this Amelia Earhart set—created by Ellen Kooijman and Brad Meltzer—is simpler than many LEGO Ideas projects. However, its straightforward design makes it perfect for younger builders who want to combine historical inspiration with their LEGO adventures.
3. “I AM YOUR FATHER”
While LEGO Ideas is flooded with Star Wars-themed sets, fans of the original trilogy will be drawn to the The Empire Strikes Back Cloud City set, I Am Your Father. This set captures the legendary duel between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, complete with the famous (but misquoted) line, “Luke, I am your father.”
4. BOAT REPAIR SHOP
RobenAnne’s Boat Repair Shop set, boasting over 9600 supporters and growing, currently stands as the most popular project on LEGO Ideas. This intricate set includes 2460 pieces, featuring a boat ramp, crane, work floor, storage attic, and even a detailed fuel pump for added realism.
5. HULKBUSTER ARMOR
This LEGO rendition of Iron Man’s Hulkbuster armor, inspired by its appearance in Captain America: Civil War, is a masterpiece of about 800 pieces. Just be cautious—if Hulk decides to smash, you’ll be stepping on red and gold LEGO fragments everywhere.
6. VINTAGE TRAM
The nostalgic sound of clanging trolleys and ringing bells comes to life in Kevin Szeto’s vintage tram design. Known for creating The Beatles Yellow Submarine set—which has already secured 10,000 supporters and approval—Szeto now turns his attention to the charming trams of Porto, Portugal. Whether this set will follow the same successful path remains to be seen, but reaching 10,000 supporters could make it a reality.
7. 1950'S DINER
Step back in time with this retro 1950s-style diner, complete with a jukebox, a compact yet detailed kitchen, a gas pump, and a classic car. Quirky touches like a sign that reads “Tips welcome, advice is not” add charm to this nostalgic LEGO creation.
8. M&M DISPENSER
Designed by two 17-year-old food enthusiasts, this M&M Dispenser is a miniature replica of the iconic “Color Wall” found in M&M’s World stores. The LEGO version holds four colors and dispenses multiple M&Ms at once, offering a fun (but possibly dangerous) solution to your candy cravings.
9. HUMAN SKULL
While Halloween is still over a month away, there’s no wrong time to back this life-size human skull set. Designer RichterMat dreams of launching an anatomy series akin to LEGO’s Architecture line. This 1228-piece model even features a jaw that moves for added realism.
10. LEGO STORE
This LEGO Store set takes LEGO to a meta level, replicating an actual New York City retail location. Designer kashaka paid meticulous attention to detail, including a small storage area at the back where minifig employees handle shipments and perhaps enjoy their breaks.
