Some encounters point to the possible reality of portals. These strange occurrences are often studied by UFO researchers and organizations due to their perplexing nature. Even those involved in the CERN project have hinted at the potential of exploring other dimensions in the near future.
Here are 10 fascinating events, each remarkably unique. However, as we gain a deeper understanding of other dimensions and how humans might perceive them, it seems that there may have been similar experiences throughout history.
10. The Harry Turner Incident, Virginia (1979)
Despite reaching his final stop on an unfamiliar route, long-haul truck driver Harry Turner had no memory of the trip. He found a gun in his hand and empty shell casings scattered throughout the truck's cabin, suggesting he had fired all eight shots. It was only then that his memories began to return.
As Turner drove from Winchester to Fredericksburg, Virginia, his truck was suddenly engulfed by a blinding light. It seemed as though both he and his vehicle had been swept away into an endless void. In a state of confusion, the door to his truck swung open and a strong grip seized his shoulder. Panicking, he fired his weapon, though he couldn't see anyone there.
The next thing Turner knew, it was 3:00 AM, and he was sitting in the parking lot of a warehouse at his delivery destination. What should have been a 130-kilometer (80-mile) trip had somehow been reduced to only 27 kilometers (17 miles), according to the truck's analysis.
Turner suspected he had passed through a portal and encountered an ultraterrestrial (an interdimensional entity). He believed this being was the one who had grabbed him, prompting him to fire his weapon. The incident was reported to the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), but it remains unsolved.
9. The Melting Car, Chicago (2008)
In November 2008, a student driving through the streets of Chicago encountered what was later speculated to be a portal to another dimension. It opened and closed around her as she drove.
Although she was the only one on the road, loud bangs began to echo around her vehicle. It felt as though someone was attempting to force her off the road. At one point, the blast was so intense that it pushed her into the opposite lane. The sounds stopped abruptly, and the student got out of her car to examine the damage.
To her shock, the windows and outer shell of the car remained intact. However, the bodywork on her doors appeared as if it had been melted by extreme heat blasts. There was no sign of another vehicle on the damaged areas, which would have been visible if the car had been physically pushed.
8. The Mann Family, Reading, England (1978)
While driving home with his wife Gloria, their two children, and his sister, John Mann anticipated the usual 90-minute trip they had done many times before. However, this time it took over 2.5 hours to reach their destination, and their journey turned out to be one of the most bizarre they had ever experienced.
After driving for around 30 minutes, they spotted a strange light in the sky, which seemed to be drawing closer to them. John decided to stop the car and get out to investigate. His family screamed for him to return as the light neared.
John got back inside but soon realized that they were no longer on the road. Instead, they found themselves in a kind of “hedged tunnel” that twisted and turned in odd patterns. Without understanding how it happened, they were suddenly back on the motorway, nearing their hometown. Nearly two hours had passed.
The following day, they attempted to find the winding road again. No matter how much they searched or how far they drove, they were unable to locate it. Had they unknowingly traveled through some kind of portal?
7. The Salyut 7 Incident, Orbiting Earth (1984)
In 1984, 'angel-like' beings were reportedly spotted around the Salyut 7 space station, which was surrounded by a mysterious orange glow. Those present claimed to have felt the light permeating the ship, reaching deep into their emotions and inner beings.
They described the sensation as one of joy and tranquility. These beings were observed on two different occasions by six separate cosmonauts. The sightings took place during the mission in which Svetlana Savitskaya became the first woman to walk in space.
Could the Salyut 7 have entered an alternate dimension via a mysterious portal above Earth? Were these angelic beings from another realm? The report only became public after the Soviet Union's collapse when the files were declassified. The mystery remains unsolved.
6. NASA Declares Portals To The Sun Exist Above Earth
In July 2012, NASA confirmed the existence of portals, or “X-points,” above Earth, revealing that the agency was actively investigating how these portals function. Plasma physicist Jack Scudder explained that these X-points form where Earth’s and the Sun’s magnetic fields connect. However, the destinations of these portals remain unknown.
The NASA Magnetospheric Multiscale mission, launched in 2014, continues to study this phenomenon. Scudder also analyzed data collected by NASA’s Polar spacecraft, which spent considerable time in Earth's orbit.
By analyzing measurements of energetic particles and the dates when anomalies occurred, Scudder aims to predict with remarkable precision where and when these portals will open in the future. Whether a mission will ever be launched to enter them—or where these portals might lead—remains to be seen.
5. The Swirling Vortex In The Sky (2016)
In the summer of 2016, a 45-second video showing a swirling vortex appeared online. A strange object was observed entering the vortex before vanishing from view. Many comments quickly claimed this as proof of a portal to another location in space and time.
Considering the technology required to travel vast distances in space, many ufologists and scientists have speculated that using “portals” or wormholes could be a solution to this challenge. Whether this is truly possible remains an open question. As shown above, the footage is intriguing and has garnered thousands of views on YouTube.
Some skeptics suggest that the footage actually captured the aftermath of a tornado, while others believe the video was simply fabricated.
4. Man Walks Through Portal In Closed Shop, Unknown Location (2016)
The footage, which shows a man walking through the locked doors of a closed shop and into a flashing portal, appeared online in April 2016. However, there was no information on its location or any evidence to confirm its authenticity.
In the video, the man seemingly walks straight through the locked doors in a strange flash, which also seems to affect the security camera. Once inside, several similar 'flashes' are visible before he walks back through the locked doors.
While some have dubbed the hooded figure the “time-traveling ghost,” others have speculated that portals might explain what happened. As expected, many believe the video is just a well-executed hoax.
3. The Lifting Car, New Hampshire (2010)
While sitting in a parked car, two teenagers managed to pull themselves away from each other just in time to witness a strange light in the sky. The light appeared to be growing larger and heading directly toward them.
Before they could react, the car was lifted off the ground, with the two terrified teenagers still inside. The light enveloped them, as though they were trapped within a tunnel.
Despite their panicked screams (which each could see reflected on the other's face), there was no sound in the car. It was as though someone had inserted earplugs, completely muting their surroundings. According to the teenage boy, a voice spoke directly in his mind, telling him not to be afraid. Yet, it did nothing to soothe his terror.
Eventually, the teens felt the car 'falling.' With a loud thud, they hit the ground, and the light vanished. They sped to the girl's house as quickly as they could. Upon arrival, her parents contacted the police.
When MUFON examined the spot where the teenagers said the event occurred, a distinct set of dents matching the car's dimensions were visible, as if the vehicle had dropped from a significant height.
2. CERN Opening Portals
The CERN projects conducted under the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) program have long been a target of conspiracy theorists, who accuse the facility of engaging in everything from satanic rituals to attempting world domination. One persistent claim is that the LHC is opening portals to other dimensions.
In June 2015, Dutch photographer Harry Perton captured an image of what some believed could be the formation of one of these portals above the town of Groningen in the Netherlands. Perton shared the image online, inviting people to speculate about its nature.
One response suggested that the LHC had been turned off for maintenance and had only recently been reactivated, just days before the photo was taken. A mere coincidence? Most likely.
However, when it was revealed that the LHC had been turned back on at double the power it had originally used, some people's skepticism was piqued.
1. Car Vanishes Into Portal During Police Chase – Los Angeles (2015)
A video, allegedly filmed by the Los Angeles Police Department, emerged in 2015, showing a car vanishing into a portal. Given the speed at which the events unfolded, three possibilities seem likely: The driver knew where the portal was, the driver created the portal, or it was a completely random occurrence.
Of course, all these theories rest on the assumption that the footage is real. It might just be an elaborate hoax.
The footage was recorded from the dash cam of a police vehicle. As officers pursued the car through various streets, the vehicle suddenly took a sharp turn onto a quieter road, seemingly leaving downtown Los Angeles behind.
As the mystery vehicle made one final turn, it disappeared right in front of the camera. The police car then stopped in front of a solid, undamaged wire fence.
While no explanation has been provided to confirm the authenticity of the footage, no one on the Internet has claimed to know what caused it either. Perhaps it was just an extraordinary event that happened to be caught on video.
