Reports have surfaced suggesting that the Smithsonian Institution, a globally respected organization, was allegedly named in a lawsuit accusing it of suppressing evidence of the existence of giant humans in ancient times. Some of these ancient skulls were reportedly found with horns, others with double rows of teeth! Certain individuals were even said to possess six fingers and elongated skulls, carrying enormous weapons. The case allegedly led to a US Supreme Court ruling, compelling the world’s largest museum to release classified documents from its 19th-century archives, which purportedly supported these shocking claims.
The evidence, coupled with testimonies from Smithsonian whistleblowers, allegedly revealed that thousands of giant skeletons, ranging from 183 to 366 centimeters (6 to 12 feet) tall, were unearthed across the United States—only to be destroyed under direct orders from top Smithsonian officials. Surprisingly, numerous reports of these giant skeletons have been found in old newspapers. However, it is important to approach these allegations with a healthy dose of skepticism.
10. Human Skulls With Horns Found

A chilling discovery of human skulls with horns is said to have occurred alongside several 213-centimeter-tall (7 feet) skeletons. These remains, identified as human, were reportedly unearthed from an ancient burial mound near Sayre, Pennsylvania, in the 1880s. The horns, about 5 centimeters (2 inches) long, pointed upwards from just above the eyebrows. The excavation was supposedly carried out by a reliable group of researchers, including Dr. G.P. Donehoo, Pennsylvania’s state historian, along with professors A.B. Skinner and W.K. Morehead.
The remains are believed to have been buried around AD 1200. They eventually made their way to Philadelphia, where they were kept at the American Investigating Museum, but were reportedly stolen and have not been seen since. There have also been claims of horned human skulls being discovered in Texas and New York.
9. The Enigmatic Mounds of Iowa

Archaeologists allegedly encountered some bizarre discoveries when they began excavating Native American burial mounds throughout Iowa. A 1897 newspaper article reported that it was ‘officially documented’ that scientists unearthed the bones of a giant human skeleton, measuring 229 centimeters (7’6″). Unfortunately, the bones disintegrated into dust once exposed to the air, but the team did uncover numerous artifacts alongside the remains, which strongly indicated that the individual held a position of great importance.
In another mound in Iowa, archaeologists are said to have uncovered a large burial chamber containing 11 skeletons, all positioned on their knees with their backs facing the walls. They were arranged in a circle around a giant seashell, believed to have been used for drinking. Was this the result of a mass suicide? Additionally, a strange copper-colored dust was discovered, releasing an overpowering stench when disturbed. The team had to pause their work until the smell dissipated. The dust was believed to be from the cremation of the dead after their bones had been removed, a practice thought to have been common among early Native Americans.
8. The Giant of the Ozarks

In 1933, near the small resort town of Steelville, Missouri, located in the Ozarks, a young boy named Billy Harman went hunting for arrowheads in a cave. However, he stumbled upon far more than he expected. While searching through Puckett’s Cave, near the Meramec River, he allegedly discovered human remains in a hole he was investigating.
At just 16 years old, Harman was frightened by the handful of human bones he found, prompting him to rush home. Later, he gathered the courage—and some assistance—to excavate the hole further. The story claims that the team unearthed the full skeleton of a giant standing 244 centimeters (8 feet) tall.
7. The Largest Skeleton Ever Discovered (In Ohio)

On January 21, 1899, the Miamisburg Daily Telegraph published the headline “Gigantic Body Recovered,” following the discovery of what was believed to be the largest human skeleton ever found in Ohio. Scientists estimated the individual’s height at just over 244 centimeters (8 feet). The extraordinary remains were uncovered by Edward Kaufman and Edward Gebhart about 0.8 kilometers (0.5 miles) from Miamisburg, in an area known for containing relics from early Native American mound builders who inhabited the region centuries ago.
What baffled the archaeologists most was that the bones were fossilized, indicating an incredibly ancient (prehistoric) age. Another confusing aspect was the creature's unusual body structure, which was said to resemble that of a human, but with a skull that more closely resembled that of a gorilla.
6. The San Diego Giant

On October 7, 1895, a newspaper called The World reported that the “largest giant ever known” had been unearthed near San Diego. The article described the discovery of a 274-centimeter-tall (9-foot) mummified Native American, claiming that the find had been thoroughly authenticated by scientists, including Professor Thomas Wilson, the curator of the Department of Prehistoric Anthropology at the Smithsonian Institution, among others.
At the time, carbon-14 dating wasn’t available, so scientists had to rely on local records, which went back about 250 years. They were reportedly baffled by the absence of any reference to a people exhibiting such gigantism in the archives. (Naturally, Native American legends would not be considered or reported in newspapers.) The mummy was believed to be prehistoric and had some form of hood over its head. It was also determined that the individual was very old at the time of death. Some dismissed the San Diego Giant as a hoax.
5. The Catalina Island Skeletons

From 1919 to 1928, it’s said that an amateur archaeologist named Ralph Glidden excavated over 800 ancient burial sites across more than 100 locations on Catalina Island. He reportedly uncovered thousands of artifacts and nearly 4,000 human skeletons. Glidden claimed that a race of tall, fair-haired Native Americans once inhabited the island and other nearby islands. The men were said to average 213 centimeters (7 feet) tall, with the tallest reaching over 274 centimeters (9 feet).
Though many dismiss Glidden’s discoveries as hoaxes designed to make money, it’s worth considering this list alongside other alleged giant finds in California and across the world. For example, two newspaper articles from the same week in July 1913, the Daily Telegraph and the Pittsburgh Press, reported that a scientist named Dr. A.W. Furstenan unearthed a 244-centimeter (8-foot) skeleton on Catalina Island. He found unusual artifacts, unlike typical Native American designs, and a large flat stone with indecipherable symbols. While in Mexico, Furstenan heard rumors of a giant, fair-haired race that once inhabited the region. The bones, once again, reportedly turned to dust after being unearthed.
4. A Giant Mystery in Wisconsin

On May 4, 1912, The New York Times reported the startling discovery of 18 giant skeletons in Southwestern Wisconsin. The remains were unearthed by the Peterson brothers near Lake Delavan, revealing “several strange and freakish features.” The skeletons ranged from 231 to 305 centimeters (7'7"–10') in height and had large, elongated skulls far bigger than any other known North American race at the time. Many of the skulls contained double rows of teeth, with molars instead of incisors in the front of the jaw.
Scientists of that era speculated that the elongated skulls might indicate a longer lifespan. Reports of giant skeleton discoveries were common before the 1950s, especially in Wisconsin. For instance, a New York Times article from August 10, 1891, covered the Smithsonian Institution’s discovery of pyramidal monuments near Madison, Wisconsin, at Lake Mills. Researchers believed Madison to have been a thriving population center (referred to as “Fort Aztalan”) that once housed at least 200,000 people.
3. ‘The Cardiff Giant Outdone’

In 1870, an edition of the Oil City Times published the headline ‘The Cardiff Giant Outdone,’ reporting the discovery of the largest—and strangest—human skeleton ever found, in West Hickory, Pennsylvania. This remarkable find was estimated to be an astonishing 549 centimeters (18') tall. Even more outlandish, they also uncovered a massive, rusty iron helmet and an enormous sword measuring 2.8 meters (9 feet) in length.
They also noted that the skeleton was remarkably well-preserved, with the bones being very white and the teeth intact in the enormous skull, which contained double rows of teeth. Strangely enough, the remains were reportedly unearthed from a depth of 3.7 meters (12 ft), which seems reasonable given the size of the body. One would logically assume that such a large skeleton would need to be buried deeper than the usual 1.8 meters (6 ft)... wouldn’t you agree?
2. An Enormously Gigantic Skeleton Found in Australia

In a report from 2015, it was claimed that the largest human skeleton ever found was excavated near Ayers Rock (Uluru), a sacred site to the Aborigines, within Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Australia. A team from the University of Adelaide supposedly uncovered this gigantic skeleton, which stood at an incredible 528 centimeters (17’4"). Professor Hans Zimmer of the University of Adelaide remarked, “The discovery at the Uluru archaeological site already took us by surprise, but this new find is absolutely staggering. The idea that a hominid could reach five meters tall is theoretically impossible.”
Could this report possibly be true? If so, how could such an enormous individual even exist? The reported giant was discovered near the only known megalithic ruins in Australia, which raises even more questions for the scientific community.
1. Yet Another Skeleton with Two Rows of Teeth

In 1833, soldiers digging an ammunition dump near Lompock Rancho, California, allegedly uncovered a 366-centimeter-tall (12′) human skeleton. The skull was noted to have double rows of teeth, and the surrounding artifacts suggested the individual held high status. Additionally, there were porphyry blocks with mysterious markings and drawings that left scientists baffled at the time.
There’s very little documentation available about this remarkable discovery, which isn’t too surprising when you consider the potential challenges it would present to conventional science.
