Many mountains and their vast cave systems seem to attract unusual activity, possibly due to theories of hidden alien bases within them. Below are ten such mountains and caves across the globe, each with a long history of UFO and extraterrestrial events.
10. The ‘Hidden People’ of Snaefellsjokull, Iceland
The Huldufolk, or 'Hidden People,' have been a part of Icelandic folklore for centuries, long before the UFO phenomenon emerged in the last 70 years. Whether their origins are cosmic or otherwise, the Huldufolk are highly respected in Icelandic culture. Locals frequently leave food and gifts at the base of the mountains where it is believed they dwell. In fact, some construction projects have been adjusted to avoid disturbing their sacred land.
9. Glastenbury Mountain, Vermont
The area around Glastenbury Mountain, part of the mysterious Bennington Triangle, has been the site of unexplained disappearances for centuries. A particularly eerie wave of vanishings took place between 1945 and 1950, when six individuals disappeared on separate occasions without a single trace.
Some UFO researchers, after speaking with locals, suspect that these disappearances may be the result of alien abductions. They cite the numerous sightings of strange lights in the sky around the area as partial evidence supporting this theory.
Interestingly, some Native American tribes in the region believe the land is cursed and speak of a stone that devours anything that steps on it. Whether this is a symbolic description of a craft—perhaps grey and saucer-shaped, resembling a stone—that abducts people is open to interpretation.
The region is also known for a high number of Bigfoot sightings, which continue to be reported today. This fact has intrigued UFO researchers, as many UFO hotspots are also known for Bigfoot encounters. Some researchers even speculate a direct link between the two phenomena.

Some theories propose that a cataclysmic event in the distant past caused the mountain to 'flip,' exposing its ancient layers.
Many UFO enthusiasts and ancient astronaut theorists support the explosion theory, though some argue that the event was deliberate, rather than natural. They point to the flat summit of the mountain, suggesting it may have once served as a landing site for ancient alien craft.
The mountain also became a focal point for UFO researchers and doomsday believers as December 21, 2012, approached, when some predicted the end of the world. In anticipation, many individuals even purchased land and properties near the mountain to ensure they would be present in case of any catastrophic event. While nothing occurred on that date, UFO sightings and reports of strange lights continue, and rumors persist about alien bases hidden within the mountain's cave systems.
7. Alien Ship in the Cave Systems of Antarctica
Antarctica is brimming with stories of alien life beneath the ice, UFO sightings, and a wide array of other strange conspiracies. In January 2017, UFO enthusiasts claimed to have spotted what appeared to be an alien craft near one of the many ancient cave systems.
A portion of what looked like a 'flying saucer' was clearly visible, protruding from the mouth of a cave. Social media quickly buzzed with theories about the potential significance of this alleged discovery. Some speculated that the craft had crash-landed in the ice, while others suggested it might be the remnants of top-secret Nazi UFO technology.
This sighting followed a series of similar claims, including reports of pyramid-like structures spotted using Google Earth. Additionally, there have been numerous allegations from individuals who claim to have found secret 'entrances' leading to underground bases or pathways to the inner Earth, a concept often featured in conspiracy theories.
6. Alien Base at Mount Adams, Washington
During the summer of 2017, at the Enlightened Contact with Extraterrestrial Intelligence (ECETI) conference in Washington, several UFO enthusiasts reported seeing a 'large opening near the top of Mt. Adams.' Many of the witnesses believed this apparent doorway was clear evidence of an alien base hidden within the mountain, which has a long history of UFO activity. Perhaps there's more truth to these claims than simply wild speculation.
One of the earliest recorded UFO sightings of the modern era, the 1947 Kenneth Arnold incident, took place in the region. Arnold described seeing nine UFOs flying at extraordinary speeds, only for them to disappear as they approached Mt. Adams. If Arnold’s account holds any truth, could the claims made by ECETI conference attendees also be valid? Could this dormant volcano indeed conceal an alien fleet and beings within its depths?

Formed by solidified magma over 200 million years ago, Black Mountain in Queensland, Australia, is home to hundreds of massive and foreboding granite-like blocks. The mountain overlooks a strange and mysterious area, adding to its enigmatic reputation.
The Native Aborigine tribes call the mountain Kalkajaka, which ominously translates to 'Mountain of Death.' They believe that evil spirits inhabit the ancient, rocky formations. According to their legends, these spirits are said to hunt humans, tormenting both their soul and flesh. There have even been reports of humanoid beings resembling reptilian creatures, a type often mentioned in UFO and conspiracy circles.

4. What Lurks in the Caves of Mount Shasta?
Mount Shasta, towering over Northern California, has long been considered sacred by local Native American tribes, who claim it has existed since the dawn of time. Their legends assert that the mountain is the very point of creation!
In modern times, the region has become a UFO hotspot. Numerous sightings are reported, and several videos have surfaced online, allegedly showing strange cosmic crafts disappearing into portals high in the sky above the mountain.
Equally frequent are reports of strange creatures with glowing red eyes that are said to inhabit the cave systems around the vast base and woodlands of the mountain. A particularly chilling story from recent times involves a three-year-old boy who disappeared for five hours while camping with his grandparents. When he was eventually found, he was unharmed, but he soon recounted a bizarre and unsettling experience.
The boy claimed that a 'robot Grandma' had taken him into the caves and led him into a room 'full of guns and spiders.' Furthermore, the 'robot Grandma' supposedly told him that he had been placed back into his mother's womb by extraterrestrial beings.
Was this simply the confused and frightened imagination of a young child after a traumatic experience? Or could the fact that the boy’s grandmother herself had an eerie experience involving spider-like bite marks on her neck and vivid dreams of being watched by a strange red-eyed creature lend some truth to the boy’s story?
3. The Superstition Mountains, Arizona
The valleys surrounding the Superstition Mountains in Arizona are popular hiking destinations. They are also, if reports are to be believed, home to reptilian humanoid creatures that are said to abduct people and take them into their underground base deep within the mountains.
One particularly chilling account involves a woman known only as 'Angie.' While taking her regular walk through the valleys, she was suddenly confronted by a person wearing a strange mask, seemingly trying to frighten her. However, Angie soon realized that the mask was not a mask at all, but a real face, and the person was actually a bizarre, reptilian creature. The moment the realization hit, her initial shock turned to sheer terror, causing her to lose consciousness.
When Angie regained consciousness, she found herself behind the wheel of her car, driving home, with no recollection of what had transpired. For several days, she remained locked in her apartment, overwhelmed by fear and confusion.
It wasn’t until Angie underwent hypnotic regression that the details of the encounter began to resurface. She had woken up in a strange cavern deep within the mountain, surrounded by several reptilian creatures. She was lying on a table, naked and restrained. As one of the monstrous beings approached her, she blacked out again. While the regression didn’t clarify everything, Angie firmly believed she had been assaulted by the creature before being returned to her car.
2. The Broad Haven Triangle of the Welsh Mountains
The United Kingdom is home to several prominent UFO hot spots, and perhaps the most active are the mountainous regions and valleys of Wales, which have long been the site of frequent UFO sightings. One such area, known as the Broad Haven Triangle in southwest Wales, has a rich history of UFO activity.
A notable surge in sightings occurred in 1977, drawing such widespread attention that the Ministry of Defense felt compelled to investigate the phenomena. However, these investigations were kept confidential for decades, even hidden from the country's political leaders, highlighting the level of secrecy involved.
One of the most infamous incidents during this time was the Broad Haven School sighting, in which several schoolchildren reported witnessing a disc-shaped craft land in a field near their school. A humanoid figure exited the craft and remained visible for a few minutes before re-entering and the craft taking off, vanishing into the trees and heading toward the Welsh mountains.
1. The ‘Thought Transfer’ Base at Mount Hayes, Alaska
Pat Price claims that deep within the heart of Mount Hayes in Alaska, there exists a secret alien base. The aliens supposedly residing there aim to control humanity through a process known as 'thought transfer.' What's even more unsettling is that these extraterrestrials appear to look like ordinary humans and can blend into society unnoticed.
It is important to note that Price's conclusion was reached through the controversial practice of remote viewing, a skill whose legitimacy is highly debated. As a result, even among the most open-minded UFO enthusiasts, Price’s claims remain difficult to fully accept.
Despite the doubts surrounding Price’s conclusions, Mount Hayes continues to be a site of frequent UFO sightings. Additionally, many pilots flying over Alaskan airspace, especially near Mount Hayes, report unexplained malfunctions with their navigation equipment. These anomalies were so persistent that in the 1950s, the FBI launched serious investigations to determine their cause.
