The cosmos is brimming with secrets, and it's no wonder that many modern-day myths and outlandish conspiracy theories are connected to the boundless expanse surrounding our little blue planet. Previous discussions have touched on classified NASA schemes to ignite Jupiter, Barack Obama’s adolescent journey to Mars, and an enigmatic alien satellite orbiting Earth. Yet, there's so much more to explore.
10. Martian Nuclear Conflict
In 2014, Dr. John Brandenburg released his paper titled “Evidence of a Massive Thermonuclear Explosion on Mars in the Past, the Cydonian Hypothesis and Fermi’s Paradox” in the somewhat questionable Journal of Cosmology. Brandenburg’s theory points to radioactive isotopes like xenon-129 in Mars' atmosphere, which he claims could only result from a nuclear explosion.
While he initially believed that a nuclear explosion on Mars was caused by natural forces, Dr. Brandenburg now posits that a humanoid civilization once thrived on the red planet, only to be annihilated by nuclear warfare. He also co-authored Dead Mars, Dying Earth, which explores the story of Martian extinction as a warning for our own planet.
Brandenburg theorizes that two indigenous Martian species existed, which he refers to as the Cydonians and the Utopians. He suggests they possessed technology comparable to that of the ancient Egyptians. Some believe the structures captured by NASA's images on Mars may be remnants of these ancient societies.
Rather than bringing about their own demise, these Martians were victims of a nuclear assault from space. Brandenburg doesn't know who was responsible, but he offers a speculative theory in the conclusion of his paper:
Such hostile forces might range from entities as alien as AI (Artificial Intelligence) holding a grudge against organic life, much like in the movie Terminator, to the tragically familiar sight of a ruthless humanoid bureaucrat like Governor Tarkin in Star Wars, eager to destroy Alderaan to set an example for other worlds.
9. Ancient Space Programs
The concept of a covert space program using alien technology recovered from the Roswell incident is widely discussed in conspiracy circles, but some theories delve even further back in time. Some believe that several ancient civilizations had their own space programs, kept secret from their populations, similar to how the US allegedly hides its fleet of UFOs from the public eye.
Corey Goode, a self-proclaimed whistle-blower, claims that numerous “breakaway human civilizations” based on ancient secret space programs exist throughout the universe. These civilizations engage in political maneuvering and intrigue with extraterrestrial species. Many of these cultures are said to have masqueraded as gods throughout history and strike deals with modern governments while posing as alien races.
One of these breakaway civilizations includes the members of the Mayan space program, who Goode admits to liking. Described as being rather short and dressed in sky-blue “priestly” uniforms, Goode humorously likened them to the Oompa-Loompas from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He claims they telepathically picked up this comparison without taking offense. Their technology relies on a neurological interface, and their ships are cylindrical and made from stone.
Goode also reported attending a meeting with representatives from various ancient space programs, who have supposedly relocated to hidden, terraformed underground lairs beneath Earth to protect themselves from planetary and extraterrestrial threats. He observed delegates from breakaway cultures with African, Asian, Indian, and Mediterranean features. However, the Maya were notably absent from these meetings.
This alliance of ancient space-faring civilizations opposes the modern-day secret space program, which allegedly collaborates with hostile aliens such as the Raptors and is controlled by an intergenerational cult that traces its origins back to Roman times.
8. German Colonies on Mars
Corey Goode presents another intriguing theory about the alleged German colonization of both the Moon and Mars during the 1940s, led by secret societies like the Thule, Vril, and Black Sun. This effort is said to have been separate from the SS's pursuit of weaponized flying saucers during the same period.
Operating from hidden bases in Antarctica and South America, these secret societies supposedly delved into technologies such as antigravity and space-time portals, using records from ancient space programs of the Far East, along with guidance from extraterrestrials. The entire endeavor was kept hidden from the Nazi political leadership and German military officials.
The early German colonies on Mars struggled with frequent dust storms that severely damaged their electronics. Eventually, they found safe regions above the 20th parallel and discovered an ancient network of lava tubes, ideal for constructing more secure bases. However, they soon encountered two indigenous subterranean Martian species: the Reptilians and the Insectoids.
After a dramatic display of force over Washington, DC, in 1952, the Martian secret societies forged an alliance with the US military-industrial complex. While the Americans initially planned to seize control of the German bases, the secret societies managed to infiltrate and take control of American political power and advanced industries.
The impact of Nazi secret societies on the modern secret space program is particularly evident in the “Dark Fleet,” which features a Nazi-inspired aesthetic in both its uniforms and spacecraft.
7. Alien Comet-Ship
The successful landing of the Philae probe on the comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko by the European Space Agency (ESA) led to many astounding scientific discoveries. However, according to a supposed whistle-blower from the ESA, the true purpose of the comet mission was far stranger.
In an anonymous email, the whistle-blower revealed that 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko wasn't actually a comet, but rather an object from which NASA had been receiving signals for two decades.
NASA scientists had observed that the comet appeared to defy the laws of physics, as it seemed to change its trajectory in space on its own. The ESA mission, they claim, was merely a cover-up for a military reconnaissance operation by American and European governments to investigate what was truly happening with the object.
The email explained the reasoning behind the whistle-blower’s claims:
Do not for a second believe that a space agency would suddenly decide to invest billions of dollars to launch a spacecraft on a 12-year journey just to capture some close-up images of a randomly chosen comet drifting through space.
The source also pointed out that the comet’s surface exhibits mechanical features and unnatural terrain. Other conspiracy theorists have supposedly spotted a UFO near the comet (which, if you squint, looks strangely similar to the USS Enterprise) and a rock formation that some claim resembles an alien face.
6. Apollo 10 and the Monolith
According to this theory, Apollo 10 astronauts—Thomas Stafford, Eugene Cernan, and John Young—encountered an extraterrestrial beacon orbiting Earth. The object resembled the iconic monolith from Stanley Kubrick’s film 2001: A Space Odyssey and was allegedly first observed by Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin and American astronaut Alan Shepard.
Apollo 10 allegedly took a covert approach to photograph the star map and message inscribed on the side of the monolith. However, electrical emissions from the object interfered with the spacecraft’s instruments, nearly causing a mission failure.
In 1972, a secret military space shuttle supposedly retrieved the beacon and transported it to an underwater research facility concealed north of the Bahamas. It was claimed that the monolith emitted tones and lights that resembled a mathematical language.
The monolith was examined by researchers such as Carl Sagan and General Albert Stubblebine from the US Army Intelligence and Security Command. Tragically, many of the researchers involved in the study of the monolith later developed cancer.
Conspiracy theorists argue that there are many alien beacons like this one, potentially left behind by as many as five different extraterrestrial civilizations. A supposed NSA informant, Jesse, claims that “Mother Russia had one.”
Skeptics counter that the technical malfunctions experienced during the Apollo 10 mission were just typical spaceflight challenges, and any secret shuttle launch in 1972 would have been detected by ground-based observers.
5. Space Angels
On the 155th day of their mission in 1984, cosmonauts aboard the Soviet space station Salyut 7 reportedly witnessed a blinding orange light that filled the interior, even passing through opaque walls. Looking out the portholes, they saw seven angelic beings with wings and halos surrounding the station. Each angel was said to be about the size of a 747. The angels lingered for 10 minutes before disappearing.
On day 167, after three more cosmonauts arrived aboard the Soyuz T-12 spacecraft, the same strange phenomenon allegedly occurred again. After the mission concluded, Soviet authorities are said to have covered up the divine encounter.
Cosmonauts aren’t the only ones who have reportedly seen angels in space. Since 1995, the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory is said to have captured images of angelic figures flying near the Sun. NASA attributes these images to processing errors, but conspiracy theorists claim they must be angels or aliens.
Some even suggest that NASA has repeatedly captured photos of ethereal beings in space and shared them with the Vatican. One alleged engineer described the beings like this:
[There were] seven enormous figures. Each had wings and mist-like halos. Standing around 80 feet tall, their wingspans were as vast as airplanes. Their faces were round, calm, and they radiated warmth. It appeared as though they were thrilled to be captured by the Hubble Telescope. They smiled at each other, almost as if sharing a wonderful secret with the universe.
Though NASA seems to view them as guardian angels, the Vatican regards them as angels symbolizing the seven churches of Asia and the 'seven periods of the church.' Allegedly, Pope John Paul II feared they might not be as benevolent as they had been portrayed.
4. Cryptids Of Mars
Conspiracy theorists seem to enjoy studying blurry images of lakes and forests to spot cryptic creatures, much like they interpret rock formations and terrain as evidence of alien structures or faces. It’s no surprise that some enthusiasts blend these two fascinations.
Images taken by the Curiosity rover in 2016 were interpreted by some as presenting clear evidence of a Martian Loch Ness monster, believed to dwell within the sands of the planet.
In 2008, NASA's Mars rover Spirit captured an image that some believed showed a bigfoot living on Mars. The official explanation is that it was simply a small rock near the rover. However, others claim it’s evidence of a 5-centimeter (2-inch) Sasquatch relaxing on the Martian surface.
This discovery is minor compared to the range of alien creatures and structures allegedly spotted by seasoned conspiracist Andrew D. Basiago. Among the claims are “beings with bald, bulbous heads” meditating in lotus positions, surrounded by ibis and penguin-like creatures.
There is also a report of a “large statue or skeleton of a humanoid with a pointed head and enormous, elephant-like ears. [ . . ] This skull could either be the fossilized remains of a giant primate from Mars' past or possibly the statue of a demon.”
For those concerned about encountering a fierce Martian creature without defense, certain sources suggest that you might find an alien handgun lying on the barren surface of Mars.
3. The Clementine Conspiracy
A YouTube user named 1967sander claims to have developed a theory called Project Golden Dragon, based on 14 years of research. He argues that NASA's Clementine lunar flyby mission in 1994 was a cover for a larger conspiracy.
He points to supposed evidence hidden in the mission's logo, including a dubious portrayal of the US flag, which he believes suggests a false flag operation. According to him, Clementine was actually a mission by the US Department of Defense to photograph alien technology concealed in the Zeeman crater on the Moon's far side.
1967sander goes on to mention a massive object supposedly captured by Clementine—a structure 55 kilometers (35 miles) long and 23 kilometers (14 miles) tall. He believes NASA attempted to obscure the image by smudging it and labeling it as a digital error. The shape of the object, according to him, mirrors a configuration embedded in the Clementine mission's logo.
He interprets the object as a colossal alien machine, made up of multicolored segments or scales that can move in any direction. This, he asserts, suggests biomechanical technology capable of shape-shifting.
1967sander is convinced that this object moves like a caterpillar, using multiple legs to crawl across the lunar surface. By enhancing the original image, he claims to have discovered more details, such as a suction unit for spraying chemicals and even possible mandibles.
1967sander also argues that there is a connection between the mysterious biomechanical entity and ancient Chinese dragon legends. His theory is based on complex numerology and a vague visual similarity between the object and the Chinese character for 'dragon.'
He suggests that ancient Chinese dragon myths were actually descriptions of smaller versions of the same alien technology that the US Department of Defense is studying on the Moon. According to him, these devices may have originally come to Earth to mine certain materials.
Fortunately, he believes the Moon-based dragons are not aggressive. However, he insists that the government should disclose to the public what it knows about the alien technology on the Moon.
2. Throne Of God
Some Christians believe that Heaven is a tangible place within our universe, and a small faction even holds the belief that it is located somewhere in the Orion Nebula.
Some people believe that the Bible offers clues about the location of Heaven, particularly in verses such as Job 26:9 ('He holdeth back the face of his throne and spreadeth his cloud upon it'), Job 22:12–14 ('Is not God in the height of heaven? And behold the height of the stars, how high they are! And thou sayest, How doth God know? Can he judge through the dark cloud? Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not, and he walketh in the circuit of Heaven'), and Revelation 4:1–3, which in some translations describes God’s throne as being in an 'emerald-tinted cloud.'
The word 'nebula,' meaning 'cloud,' plays a central role in this theory. The distance of Orion's Belt, around 1,500 light-years away, is not seen as a problem but rather an illustration of how prayer can reach God’s ears faster than the speed of light—similar to how the angel Gabriel swiftly came from Heaven to Earth to answer Daniel's prayer.
Some view the majestic Orion constellation as a portal into the heavens. They believe it will be through Orion that Jesus Christ and all the heavenly inhabitants will return to Earth during the Second Coming, with the Holy City descending as part of the Third Coming.
On the other hand, some strongly oppose this view. They believe that rather than Heaven, Orion’s Belt marks the location of Satan’s throne, where he will create a counterfeit New Jerusalem to deceive humanity. This 'false city' (also referred to as Crystal or Rainbow City) is expected to emerge from the direction of Orion’s Belt, with some sources even suggesting it could come from within the hollow Earth.
1. Pluto Truther Movement
YouTube user Crrow777 is a leading figure in the Pluto trutherism movement. He argues that NASA fabricated the images of Pluto taken by the New Horizons probe. By manipulating the color channels of an image of Pluto, he allegedly discovered 'a ghosting image all the way around it,' which he considers 'the first indicator of shenanigans.'
Crrow777 further asserts that he obtained a clearer image of Jupiter through his backyard telescope from 400 million miles away than NASA managed to capture of Pluto from a mere 9 million miles. This, according to him, serves as undeniable proof that the images of Pluto were 'computer-generated pictures.'
While some conspiracy theorists outright reject the New Horizons mission as a fabrication, others contend that Pluto itself doesn’t exist. There’s also a theory that New Horizons wasn’t meant to visit Pluto at all. Instead, it was part of a Masonic or Illuminati ritual (or perhaps both) to honor Pluto, the god of death. The true objective of the probe was allegedly Planet X (also known as Nibiru), which is believed to one day bring about the destruction of Earth.
A focal point of this theory is the fact that the probe carried some of the ashes of Clyde Tombaugh, the astronomer who discovered Pluto. It's said that the probe also included two quarters, which may symbolize the ancient custom of placing coins over the eyes of the deceased.
Even the name 'New Horizons' is seen as having occult meaning. The word 'horizon' is derived from the Greek word horos, which resembles 'Horus,' the Greek name for the Egyptian god Horakhty (also known as Horus of the two horizons).
