To identify the most horrifying films, GIGACalculator.com monitored the heart rates of 150 first-time viewers while they watched a selection of movies. The films were chosen based on a survey of 2500 dedicated horror enthusiasts conducted before the experiment.
Ari Aster's 2018 masterpiece Hereditary claimed the top position, with heart rates soaring to an average of 115 BPM during screenings. For context, a normal resting heart rate ranges from 60 to 100 BPM. The 2004 cult classic Saw secured second place, pushing heart rates to an average of 113 BPM.
