10. The Final Farewell
In 2001, on a chilly Saturday evening, Nina De Santo was wrapping up her shift at her New Jersey hair salon when she noticed one of her regular customers standing outside the window. Michael, who had become a good friend over the years, had been struggling after his wife left him for his stepbrother, and he lost custody of his children.
Nina had always done her best to lift Michael’s spirits during his visits to the salon, even taking him out for drinks a few times to give him an opportunity to talk. So when she opened the door that evening, Michael seemed different—almost happy. He smiled at her and said that he couldn’t stay long but just wanted to thank Nina for everything she had done for him. They chatted for a moment, then parted ways for the night.
The next morning, Nina received a troubling phone call from one of her employees. The woman informed Nina that Michael’s body had been discovered earlier that day, about nine hours before their conversation at the salon. He had taken his own life.

9. No Time Left
Nature can be incredibly ruthless. When the 2011 earthquake in Japan triggered a massive tsunami, people were given only moments to escape their homes and fight for their lives. Yet, despite reaching evacuation zones, hundreds were still swept away as the waves engulfed them. Nearly 20,000 people perished, either by drowning or from blunt force trauma after being struck by uprooted trees and other heavy debris.
In the weeks that followed, as survivors struggled to rebuild their lives in the aftermath of the devastation and loss, eerie reports began to surface. Some claimed to have seen spectral lines of people waiting outside what was once a supermarket, while others were kept awake by disembodied voices calling out from the darkness.
Shinichi Yamada, along with his two children, had somehow managed to escape the devastating waves. Later, he found two Buddhist statues amid the debris and brought them back to his temporary shelter. Soon after, both of his children fell ill. A chilling cold began to invade their home, following anyone who entered. Shinichi knew it was time to seek help when, one night, he felt something walking over him as he lay in bed.
Kansho Aizawa, the exorcist called in for help, had her own terrifying experiences to recount. Since the disaster, she had been encountering headless and mutilated spirits. She advised Shinichi to build a shrine for the statues, which he did. Though the paranormal activity in his home diminished somewhat, incidents still occurred from time to time. Nonetheless, Shinichi believes that the spirits haunting his family have found peace.
8. Ghosts or Demons?
Many people dismiss the idea of ghosts, attributing unexplained phenomena like flickering lights or taps turning on and off by themselves to the influence of mischievous demons instead.
In 2011, Latoya Ammons and her three children moved into a home on Caroline Street in Gary, Indiana. From the very beginning, Latoya felt that something wasn’t right. She and her mother, Rosa, often heard footsteps echoing from the basement and doors creaking open when the children were deep in sleep and no one else was around. Initially, they thought the house might be haunted by ghosts, but they soon reconsidered when swarms of flies appeared on the porch during the dead of winter and the children began to act oddly.
One night, Rosa was startled awake by ear-piercing screams, only to find her 12-year-old granddaughter floating above her bed. Latoya also found her youngest son in the closet, speaking to an invisible presence, and witnessed her son being violently hurled across the room by an unseen force.
Concerned neighbors, believing the children were being mistreated, contacted the Department of Child Services. Case manager Valerie Washington met with the family at a local hospital. During the interview, she witnessed an astonishing sight: Latoya’s nine-year-old son crawled backward up the wall, across the ceiling, flipped over his grandmother, and landed on his feet.
At this point, an exorcist was brought in. Rev. Michael Maginot performed several exorcisms on the house, declaring that the property was a “portal to demons.” Soon after, the Ammons family moved out, and the house was demolished in 2016.
7. Creepy Phone Call
In the late 1960s, Simma Lieberman was in love and filled with happiness. Her hippie boyfriend, Johnny, had proposed, and they were making plans to marry soon after settling into their first apartment together.
One late night, while at her mother's house, Simma picked up the phone to hear Johnny's voice. He sounded rushed and distant, his words barely discernible through the crackling static. Through the noise, she could catch fragments of his message: 'I love you' and 'I’ll never be mean to anybody again,' before the connection abruptly ended.
Simma attempted to return Johnny's call, but her efforts were in vain. Exhausted, she eventually fell asleep, only to wake up with an unsettling feeling in her chest. A few hours later, she received the devastating news from Johnny's mother—he had been murdered the previous night, shortly before his mysterious phone call. Throughout her life, Simma would always believe that Johnny had reached out from beyond to say goodbye.
6. Mischievous Spirits
Not all supernatural entities are out to haunt or possess. Sometimes, it seems, they simply wish to have a bit of fun. In 1937, W.S.J. shared a letter with Country Life in which he recounted a strange experience he had in 1885. As a schoolboy spending his summer vacation with family at a holiday home on the Isle of Wight, W.S.J. remembered the St. Boniface House garden as one of the most enchanting he had ever seen.
However, things took a supernatural turn when strange happenings began in his sisters’ bedroom. The unsettling sounds of footsteps pacing the floor drove them to flee. W.S.J. also observed a mysterious figure moving past the housemaids and ringing bells in the dead of night.
Eventually, the village priest was called to perform a blessing on the house. Afterward, the haunting ceased. W.S.J. later stated that the house was eventually demolished, but he hoped the garden, a place of peace and beauty, would continue to provide solace to those who visited it after dark.
5. Quarantine Ghosts
When lockdowns swept across the globe in 2020, most people wondered how they would survive the seemingly endless days of confinement. With so much time spent at home, some began to question whether they were truly alone or if something else was quietly sharing their space.
Kurt Schleicher's lockdown experience took place in a house in Tampa, Florida, where in 1933, Victor Licata tragically murdered his parents, siblings, and dog. During his time there, Kurt noticed his dog sitting and barking at the wall of the bedroom where the mother had been killed. He also claimed to have felt an eerie temperature drop in the bathroom.
Adrian Gomez, residing in Los Angeles, witnessed a doorknob and window shaking so violently that he initially thought an earthquake had struck. Once he realized there was no earthquake, he began to suspect something supernatural might be at play. His suspicions grew stronger when a window shade in his bedroom started rattling against the closed window while the adjacent one remained perfectly still.

4. Lola
The tale of the wailing woman is known across the world. Yet, in a story that still sends shivers down the spine of professional skier Drew Tabke, the wailing woman takes on the form of Lola at La Parva. Located in the Chilean Andes, La Parva is a popular ski resort where many claim to have known Lola before her tragic death.
Lola and her son were spending a day on the slopes when a dense fog suddenly engulfed the area. As they tried to make their way down the mountain, they became separated. Fearing for her son's safety, Lola began calling his name. In her panic, she lost her footing and tumbled down a steep slope. A lift operator, heading back to his cabin before the storm hit, found Lola still alive and managed to get her to safety. He rushed to fetch a doctor, but when they returned, Lola was gone. All that was left behind were bloodied sheets.
It is believed that, after the fall, Lola ventured back into the fog and the storm to search for her son. Neither Lola nor her son were ever found. But now, whenever skiers, including Drew Tabke, approach that cabin, they hear the sorrowful wail of Lola searching for her lost child.
3. Danny
When Donna Stewart was six years old, she had a few close friends, one of whom was Danny. He often came over to play at her house. One morning, they were having fun together, but their play date was abruptly cut short when Danny had to go to the hospital for scheduled surgery to remove his tonsils.
The next day, while Donna was in her bedroom, she was surprised to see Danny standing in the doorway. He asked her if they could go outside to play together.
Donna went to her mother to ask if she and Danny could play outside, but she was taken aback by her mother’s sudden change in color. Her mother went pale before delivering the shocking news: Danny had passed away the previous day from an allergic reaction following his surgery.
Donna dashed back to her room, only to find that Danny was no longer there.
Years later, Donna became a member of a paranormal investigation team in Oregon. She believes that this experience profoundly altered her understanding of death. 2. Someone’s Watching

When Hilary Prue started her role as an usher at the du Maurier Theatre Centre, now known as the Harbourfront Centre Theatre in Toronto, she was quickly introduced to the eerie tale of two ghosts haunting the building. A man and a woman, both dressed in period attire, were said to have frightened at least one security guard into quitting after he encountered them while locking up. The venue, which was once an ice warehouse, also briefly served as a temporary morgue following a tragic boat sinking in the harbor.
At first, Hilary didn’t experience anything out of the ordinary during her shifts. But one day, while alone in the office, she heard a blood-curdling scream. Searching the building, she found no one else around. Later, a colleague revealed they had experienced something similar.
After that unsettling encounter, Hilary began to feel as if someone was always watching her. At one point, she even thought a coworker had brought their children in, with one of the kids causing mischief. But that wasn’t the case at all.
During a ghost-hunting group’s visit to the theater, the team not only spotted the woman in a Victorian gown and the man in a bowler hat, but they also reported seeing a little boy hiding in the rafters. In that moment, Hilary realized exactly who had been observing her all along.
1. Then Who Was in the Closet?

Sometimes, the most chilling paranormal stories come from Reddit threads. Whether these tales are simply retellings of real experiences or have been exaggerated for dramatic flair, they undeniably send shivers down the spines of readers all around the globe.
One night, Redditor tooabstract788 was home alone, engrossed in a game, when his dog suddenly began barking at the closet. Curiosity piqued, he got up to investigate and heard faint scratching sounds coming from within. As he moved closer, the scratching grew quieter, only to cease entirely when he stood directly in front of the closet. Just as he was about to resume his game, a loud crash echoed from the closet, followed by several softer thuds as objects began hitting the inside of the closet door.
Panicked, he bolted outside, only returning when his friend arrived to check on him. Together, they searched the closet, finding clothes and hangers strewn across the floor, but no hidden passages or openings in the walls or ceiling to explain what had just happened.
