Area 51 is widely known as the site where covert ‘flying saucers’ are supposedly stored, and depending on your source, even live aliens may be kept there. However, beyond this famous location, many other lesser-known but equally fascinating areas remain shrouded in secrecy, hosting activities that are officially undisclosed. By their nature, such bases are never openly discussed, with claims of their existence often denied, or at best, their purposes misrepresented.
Though most of the claims on this list should be taken with a grain of salt, they still present intriguing ideas that spark curiosity, especially for those whose minds linger on the possibility that there may be some truth to these allegations—if only we could know for sure.
10. Base AL/499

The majority of what is ‘known’ about Base AL/499 comes from whistle-blower James Casbolt, who claims that this underground facility, allegedly situated 60 meters (200 ft) beneath the quaint village of Peasemore in Berkshire, is part of a secretive operation called Project Mannequin. Casbolt asserts that his family has strong ties to both intelligence agencies and the Illuminati, and that he was ‘born into’ this classified program as part of his family’s covert connections.
Casbolt asserts that Project Mannequin is a cloning program designed to create super soldiers. Additionally, it runs MKULTRA-style mind control experiments, training people to become unknowing assassins. Though the operation is based in the UK, it is connected to similar secret projects in the United States, with the NSA being the ultimate authority overseeing it.
Casbolt goes on to claim that while he was inducted into the program due to his family’s powerful ties, including participation in an Illuminati-led assassination squad, many other recruits were forcibly abducted and coerced into the program, used as 'civilian test subjects' for experimentation.
9. Camp 13

A recent Mytour article discussed a UFO crash recovery in the Kalahari Desert, known as the Kalahari Incident. It allegedly involved a downed UFO and two extraterrestrial beings, recovered by the South African military before being handed over to the U.S. military. However, the story also suggests that a third alien being was kept in South Africa and taken to a secret military base.
If the story is to be believed, Camp 13, a secret base in the Kalahari Desert, was just as significant to the South African military as the UFO wreckage itself. The exact location of the base remains unknown, but aside from housing alleged extraterrestrial beings, it is rumored to be a testing site for advanced laser weaponry.
Some UFO researchers in South Africa claim that UFO sightings are far more frequent than officially reported, even in the present day. Along with this, there are persistent rumors about other secret bases similar to the rumored Camp 13.
8. Top Secret UFO Response Unit in Wales

Journalist Derrick Gough reported that, dating back to the 1980s, the UK and US governments operated a covert program from a base located in the Brecon Beacons of Wales. This program focused on retrieving mutilated human bodies, allegedly the result of alien abductions and experiments. Gough soon realized the gravity of the files he had been given by a military whistle-blower, a fact emphasized by multiple threatening phone calls after he contacted the police and, even more so, by the fire that destroyed his office. He eventually passed the files and information to UFO researcher Tony Dodd, who connected with Gough’s source and brought the story to light in his 1999 book, Alien Investigations.
Dodd’s investigation revealed that the base and its UFO response team were part of a highly secretive UK/US collaboration, set up by the governments of Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan. The team was on standby 24/7, prepared to respond to reports of UFO sightings, often retrieving disturbing evidence. They were tasked not only with recovering mutilated bodies and concealing them from the public but also with securing the area beforehand to prevent any unwanted attention during operations.
7. Alien Base off the Coast of Iceland

Tony Dodd also claimed that UFO activity along the Icelandic coast was so frequent that he suspected the existence of a secret alien base in the area. He believed that NATO forces, at the very least, provided unwitting protection to the base, if not active cooperation.
Dodd, a seasoned and respected UFO researcher, had multiple contacts within the Icelandic fishing community—often the only civilians allowed near US and NATO vessels—along with an anonymous Navy source. These sources reported seeing multiple UFOs entering the sea or flying low over the mountainous terrain. The Navy source confirmed that the UFOs were monitored, and their paths were cleared to ensure they could reach their destination without interference. This happened at least once while the source was aboard a ship.
Once the alien craft entered the water, they would continue to be tracked and monitored, with all other maritime traffic kept clear until the vessels had safely reached their destination.
6. Network of Bases Beneath Denver International Airport

Though officials involved in its construction have denied the existence of any secret activities under Denver International Airport, conspiracy theories have persisted for over two decades since the airport opened in February 1995. These theories suggest there may be much more beneath the surface, with some claiming the presence of 'Illuminati-type symbols' throughout the facility and a layout that many describe as strange and disorienting.
The rise in construction costs (from approximately $1.7 billion to over $5 billion), combined with the abandonment of the airport's original design, which was allegedly ‘buried,’ offers a solid foundation for the conspiracy theories surrounding Denver International Airport.
However, it was the claims of 'baby-eating aliens' controlling a human workforce alongside high-ranking US military officials that gained significant traction in the conspiracy community. Researcher Alex Christopher, along with the late whistle-blower Phil Schneider, reported having gained access to a secret underground facility. They described ‘human slave labor’ overseen by reptilian aliens, who were said to control both the US military and government. Additionally, similar bases are rumored to exist under various major US cities.
In addition to various experimental labs and production lines, the underground facility below DIA allegedly has designated areas for the world’s elite, including members of the British royal family. These individuals are said to use the base during a future event known as 'the change.'
5. Secret Base Beneath Rendlesham Forest

While many are familiar with the infamous Rendlesham Forest UFO encounter of December 1980, fewer know about the alleged complex beneath the former US military bases of Woodbridge and Bentwaters. According to certain sources, some of the technology housed in this secret base was said to be far more advanced than anything available at the time.
While filming the 2014 horror movie The Rendlesham UFO Incident (also known as Hangar 10), director Daniel Simpson recalled speaking to the owner of a company renting space on some of the privately owned land in the area. When the engineer was setting up an Internet connection, he discovered cables that seemed to have been installed in the early 1980s. However, upon closer inspection, the engineer was baffled, as the technology appeared far more advanced than what was available at the time.
Simpson also found several strange hatches hidden throughout the forest, seemingly in the middle of nowhere. Beneath the heavy lids, long ladders descended into darkness. While local authorities explained they were part of a drainage system, Simpson argued that the setup looked far too elaborate for such a purpose, especially given how hidden it was. Locals later told him they believed these hatches were still in use as access points to a secret underground base.
Interestingly, when it was revealed in 2011 that documents related to the Rendlesham incident had gone missing from the National Archives, it raised suspicions within both the conspiracy and UFO communities.
4. The Black Pyramid of Alaska

Alaska, a land as intriguing as it is harsh, is home to one of the most bizarre and fascinating claims—an ancient black pyramid supposedly buried deep within the state.
The first reports of the Black Pyramid surfaced in 1992 when Channel 13 Anchorage aired a segment about scientists conducting seismic recordings. These scientists believed they had unintentionally uncovered the dimensions of a pyramid-like structure around 80 kilometers (50 miles) from Denali (formerly known as Mount McKinley). However, the story seemed to fade into obscurity until 2012, when a retired military member reached out to UFO researcher and journalist Linda Moulton Howe. He claimed that the pyramid, constructed thousands of years ago, was designed to harness the Earth's natural energy.
As Howe brought the story into the public eye, more individuals came forward, some with direct involvement or familial ties to the Black Pyramid. Bruce L. Pearson, for example, stated that the structure was 'not made by man' and served as a secret base focused on studying the harnessing of energy. Another anonymous source claimed his father had worked on the 'dark pyramid,' even helping install a 'powerful electrical system' within its ancient walls.
3. The Claims of Admiral Byrd

One of the earliest and most famous claims of a hidden base comes from Admiral Richard Byrd in 1947. During a flight over the North Pole, Byrd supposedly discovered an entrance to the Inner Earth, where he found lush vegetation and a base inhabited by beings native to the region. Byrd was vocal about the experience, even holding a press conference to warn the public that these beings could travel from the South Pole to the North Pole at astonishing speeds.
Unsurprisingly, Byrd was swiftly 'hospitalized' under orders from the US military, after which he was forbidden from speaking about his discovery or holding any further press conferences.
Another intriguing detail Byrd mentioned was his sighting of crafts adorned with swastikas. Could these be evidence that the Nazis had indeed established their notorious Base 211 and formed communication with an inter-terrestrial civilization capable of traveling from pole to pole at unimaginable speeds?
2. Base 211

The official reason given by the Third Reich for their 1938 expedition to Antarctica was to secure Germany's whaling industry. However, conspiracy theorists contend that the true motive was to make contact with the beings residing in the Inner Earth—a mission which supposedly culminated in the creation of Base 211.
There were even widespread rumors suggesting that Hitler himself fled to Base 211 in the closing days of World War II, later resurfacing in South America, where some accounts claim he lived until the 1980s. The Nazis, or at least their high-ranking officials, were convinced that an ancient race of extraterrestrial beings resided in Antarctica, and according to their propaganda, they believed they were direct descendants of these beings.
1. The Protected Area of the Ross Sea

In October 2016, a global agreement designated 1.5 million square kilometers of the Ross Sea as a protected area, seemingly a positive step for wildlife preservation with commercial fishing banned. However, this decision also meant that only those granted special authorization were allowed access to the region, effectively sealing it off from the rest of the world.
To some conspiracy theorists, this protection effort was nothing more than a cover-up for the existence of secret bases operating within the Ross Sea. There have even been allegations of covert battles between the extraterrestrial inhabitants of the area and a secret, multinational human task force.
Following reports of a UFO crash in Antarctica, along with other mysterious vehicles—strangely lacking any tracks that would suggest they landed—captured on Google Earth, doubts began to grow regarding the true motives behind the creation of the protected zone in the Ross Sea.
