10. US Navy Pilots Spot UFO During Training Mission
In 2004, two US Navy pilots, Commander David Fravor and Lieutenant Commander Jim Slaight, were engaged in a routine training exercise near San Diego. During the mission, they received an alert from a base operator about an unusual aircraft in their vicinity. The operator revealed that the military had been monitoring this mysterious object for weeks, noting its erratic movements, including sudden dives and hovering. The pilots were instructed to investigate and visually confirm the unidentified craft.
After an extensive search, Slaight and Fravor finally located the mysterious aircraft. They described it as approximately 12 meters (40 ft) in length. Fravor noted that the UFO was hovering roughly 15 meters (50 ft) above the ocean, causing noticeable disturbances in the water below. As Fravor maneuvered closer, the object abruptly ascended to meet him before accelerating away at an incredible speed. Fravor later remarked to reporters, “I can confidently say, I believe it wasn’t from this world!”
9. Two Commercial Airline Pilots Spot a UFO Over Arizona
On February 24, 2018, two pilots flying over Arizona reported an unusual encounter with a UFO. The pilot of a Learjet 36 observed an unidentified object flying above his aircraft. When he inquired with air traffic control about other nearby planes, the controller confirmed none were present, jokingly suggesting it might be a UFO. Unbeknownst to them, this lighthearted comment was about to take on a serious tone.
Shortly after the Learjet pilot’s report, the controller contacted another pilot aboard an American Airlines flight, asking them to report any unusual activity. Moments later, the American Airlines pilot radioed in, confirming that a fast-moving, brightly lit object had flown past their plane. While both pilots had seen balloons at similar altitudes, the Learjet pilot emphasized, “The only difference was how intensely bright this object was.”

8. UFO Hovers Over East Mountain
Interestingly, this particular UFO sighting wasn’t reported by pilots but by military personnel.
During the Cold War, the US Air Force operated a radar base at the base of Vermont’s East Mountain. More than 175 servicemen were stationed there, living approximately 1.6 kilometers (1 mi) away from the mountain. In 1961, an unidentified object appeared in the sky above East Mountain and remained stationary for 18 minutes, as documented in military records.
7. The Hill Family’s Alleged Abduction
This incident took place in 1961, coinciding with the UFO sighting over East Mountain in Vermont. It stands as one of the earliest widely publicized accounts of an abduction by extraterrestrial beings. Betty and Barney Hill reported being taken by aliens on the night of September 19 while driving home to New Hampshire. During their trip, they noticed a bright light in the sky, initially mistaking it for a shooting star. However, their assumption changed when the light began shifting directions. Curious, they pulled over to observe the strange phenomenon more closely. Through binoculars, they identified the light as a peculiar craft emitting multicolored flashes.
After witnessing this, the couple resumed their journey home. As they drove, the craft descended closer to their car, eventually hovering just 12 meters (40 ft) above them. Startled, Barney glimpsed humanoid figures dressed in black uniforms through the craft’s windows. Panicked, the Hills sped away, only to hear strange noises and feel a tingling sensation throughout their bodies. They later regained consciousness 56 kilometers (35 mi) from where they had stopped, with no memory of how they got there.
Following this harrowing ordeal, Betty and Barney Hill, under hypnosis, recounted being taken aboard the UFO and subjected to examinations by its extraterrestrial occupants. Today, a commemorative sign marks the location of their alleged abduction, detailing the events of that night in 1961.
6. Multiple UFO Sightings in Exeter, New Hampshire
Another significant UFO event in New England occurred on September 3, 1965, in Exeter, New Hampshire. According to author John G. Fuller, a police officer on patrol encountered a visibly shaken woman parked by the roadside just after midnight. She explained that a UFO had been pursuing her as she drove, leaving her breathless and terrified.
A few hours later, a young man arrived at the police station, reporting that he had observed a series of five bright lights hovering above a house while hitchhiking on a nearby highway. He described how the lights repeatedly appeared and disappeared behind a row of trees, moving across a field. The young man then guided several police officers to the spot where he had seen the lights. Upon arrival, the officers confirmed everything the young man had described earlier at the station.
Over the following weeks, the Exeter police department received a flood of UFO sighting reports, totaling 60 in all!
5. The Flying Saucer Over Rhode Island
On June 10, 1967, Harold Trudel captured some of the most remarkable photographs of a UFO from that era. Trudel, who had claimed multiple UFO sightings in the past, decided that day to document what he had seen. Around noon, he positioned himself on West Wrentham Road near East Woonsocket, Rhode Island, patiently waiting for the opportunity.
Trudel recounted that after waiting for a few minutes, a UFO emerged from the clouds and hovered above a nearby power line. Seizing the moment, he snapped several photographs of the mysterious craft. The images reveal an odd, floating object in the sky. The UFO stayed stationary long enough for Trudel to take seven distinct pictures, despite the limitations of slower camera technology at the time.
4. Mysterious Lights Over Newtown, Connecticut
On May 26, 1987, Randy Etting, a commercial airline pilot, was out for an evening walk in Newtown, Connecticut. During his stroll, he noticed unusual orange and red lights moving westward in the sky. Familiar with the skies due to his profession, Etting immediately recognized that these lights were unlike anything he had ever encountered. He grabbed his binoculars and called his neighbors to witness the phenomenon. Later reports confirmed that even drivers on Interstate 84 pulled over to watch the lights, and police records show over 200 people reported seeing a UFO between 9:30 and 10:15 PM.
Etting managed to photograph the lights as they moved across the sky. His image shows a multicolored semicircle glowing with various colors. Witnesses also reported that their vehicles lost power while the UFO was overhead. Shortly after, similar sightings were reported in the nearby town of New Milford. 3. Chicago Airport Staff Witness UFO Over Tarmac
In November 2006, as a commercial flight prepared to depart from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport to North Carolina, a United Airlines employee on the tarmac noticed a gray, unidentified craft hovering above gate C17. Several other United employees and a few bystanders outside the airport also observed the same mysterious object.
Witnesses reported that the unidentified craft lingered over the gate for several minutes before suddenly accelerating upward into the sky. They also noted that the craft created a hole in the clouds, revealing the clear blue sky above. In 2011, two videos emerged showing a strange object descending and hovering above the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem. The footage ignited widespread Internet debate about its authenticity, though many now believe the videos to be fabricated. One video depicts a round object floating above the iconic Islamic shrine. After remaining stationary for a while, the object emits a bright light and swiftly ascends into the sky.
The second video was captured from a nearby mountain, offering a distant yet clear view of the event. It depicted the object hovering, emitting a bright flash, and then ascending rapidly. Despite the language barrier, the awe and astonishment in the voices of the individuals filming were unmistakable as they watched the mysterious object.
1. Square-Shaped Craft Seen Over North Carolina
This sighting took place on August 18, 2018. Javion Hill was driving along US 74, southwest of Charlotte, North Carolina, when he noticed strange lights in the clouds forming a square pattern. While on the phone with his wife, Hill snapped several photos and even took the next exit to try recording a video of the phenomenon.
As he prepared to film, the lights suddenly disappeared, and a massive storm ensued shortly after. Hill, who had been skeptical about UFOs before this incident, admitted he struggled to sleep that night. “I was genuinely concerned for my safety,” he said. “I didn’t believe in UFOs until that moment.”
