The 1959 Harley-Davidson Police Special serves as another example of how Harley's Big Twin models have been favored by law enforcement and municipal services.

This particular model, though not used for active police work, was enlisted for funeral processions. While it didn't experience the same action as its law enforcement counterparts, it proudly shares key features such as a siren, red lights, and a radio, just like the pursuit versions.

This model is finished in the signature silver paint reserved exclusively for police motorcycles, and unlike the civilian versions, it does not feature a two-tone color scheme.

Although the hand-clutch/foot-shift setup had been the standard since 1952, many police departments still favored the old hand shifter. This allowed the foot clutch to be disengaged, keeping the bike in gear while the engine continued to run.
