Since William "Willie G." Davidson, the grandson of a Harley-Davidson founder, assumed the role of the company's design chief in 1963, Harley-Davidson has demonstrated a bold enthusiasm for introducing innovative designs. However, this particular model stood out as exceptionally unique even by Harley's standards.
In 1993, Harley-Davidson released anniversary models to mark the company's 90th year, featuring two-tone silver bikes alongside a distinctive black-and-white Heritage Softail adorned with cow-inspired accents, which quickly earned the nickname "Cow Glide."
The timeless appeal of wire wheels, whitewall tires, running boards, and a chromed headlight nacelle, paired with the black-and-white paint job, created a vintage aesthetic. The addition of cow-themed detailing made the design truly one-of-a-kind.
Similar to other Harley-Davidson "factory customs," the FLSTN features advanced mechanics, including a belt drive, disc brakes, hydraulic forks, and the iconic Softail frame that mimics a rigid look while offering a smoother ride.
Like many of its custom counterparts, the Cow Glide sold out instantly, with only 2,700 units produced, far fewer than the demand.
