If you grew up in the ’80s or ’90s, chances are you have some great memories of a group of Heroes in a Half-Shell. Whether you were a fan of Leonardo or Donatello, or perhaps preferred the wild Michelangelo with his 'cowabunga' catchphrase over the more serious Raphael, there’s no denying that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles made a huge impact on pop culture during those two decades.
TMNT originated as a parody of Daredevil, created by comic book artists Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. As Turtlemania surged, the franchise gained immense popularity, expanding into comic books, TV shows, films, and even music.
However, the most significant achievements came from their incredibly successful toy line, which saw action figures debut in 1988. In the first four years, TMNT toys, including figures, playsets, vehicles, and accessories, generated over $1 billion in sales. You may even still find some of those early TMNT toys tucked away in your parents' attic, basement, or garage. And if those toys remain sealed in their original packaging, they could bring in a hefty sum on resale sites, with some figures in pristine condition going for thousands of dollars.
We’ve compiled a list of some of the most sought-after TMNT collectibles, based on eBay prices. Scroll down to check out a few of these nostalgic treasures, perfect for a blast from the past (or a quick profit).
TMNT Undercover Line (1994) // $5200+

In 1994, Playmates introduced the TMNT Undercover sub-line, showcasing the Turtles as undercover spies. Each figure came with a turtle sporting a fedora, along with plastic weapons and either a collector’s card or a coin.
What makes these action figures stand out among collectors is the inclusion of a cloth trench coat, as opposed to the plastic version (for example, the 1990 Undercover Donatello had a plastic coat). This unique detail significantly increases their value on the secondary market. If you own one of these TMNT Undercover figures in pristine condition and still in its original packaging, it could sell for as much as $5200 on eBay.
Leonardo tends to be the priciest of the four Turtles, as he was the only one to come with a gold collector coin rather than a card. However, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello could still earn you over $2000 if you’re ready to part with them.
TMNT Scratch and Hot Spot (1993) // $3000+

By the mid-’90s, Turtlemania had started to fade, prompting Playmates to refresh the franchise with a new line of figures based on mutants that fans had never seen before. These included Scratch, a mutant street cat turned prisoner, and Hot Spot, a Dalmatian dog with fire-fighting powers, among others. These characters were exclusive to Playmates and didn’t appear in the cartoon or comic books (though Scratch briefly made a cameo in a TMNT video game). The only way to experience them was through the toys.
Since these characters weren’t featured in any major media tied to the franchise, the toys didn’t really catch on. They were produced in limited quantities, making them difficult to find today. If you happen to own one, however, you could sell it for a nice sum.
Scratch is in high demand among TMNT toy collectors, and even unboxed versions of this figure can go for around $2200 on the secondary market. Boxed versions can easily fetch over $3000. Hot Spot figures aren’t far behind in value—an unopened action figure we found on eBay in its original packaging went for more than $1100.
TMNT Black Belt Storage Shell Raphael and Michelangelo (1995) // $2000
The 1995 Storage Shell Turtles series was a reissue of a toy line from 1990-1991. These highly sought-after figures featured all four Turtles, each with a unique shell design that could swing open to store accessories. The Turtles could store weapons, pizza, and more in their shells, making these collectibles a fan favorite.
There’s a slight inconsistency in the design of these figures, as some Raphael and Michelangelo models feature black belts instead of the usual color-coordinated ones. If you happen to have a TMNT Black Belt Storage Shell Michelangelo (or Raphael) in decent condition gathering dust, you could potentially sell it for up to $2000 or more on eBay.
TMNT Giant Slam Dunkin’ Donatello (1991) // $1800+

The Sports Turtles series was one of the most beloved TMNT toy lines from the early ’90s. Each oversized 13-inch action figure came dressed in a unique sports outfit, including Shell Kickin’ Raph (soccer) and Slap Shot Leo (hockey), along with a variety of fun designs for each character.
The TMNT Slam Dunkin’ Donatello (basketball) is the highlight of the collection, with a mint-condition version still in its original packaging potentially fetching up to $2000 on eBay. This basketball-themed Donatello came with a green basketball and a trash can rim, along with a jersey sporting the number 23—just like Michael Jordan.
TMNT Sumo Line (1995) // $1275+

What made the TMNT Sumo toy line stand out from the other iterations of the Heroes in a Half-Shell was that Playmates only released two Turtles as sumo wrestlers: Michelangelo (dubbed the “Foot Poundin’ Belly Boy” on the packaging) and Raphael (the “Ton o’ Terror Turtle”).
Each figure came with a pair of sumo-style sandals, their primary weapon (either nunchucks or sais), an additional weapon (a blade for Raph or a mace for Mikey), and a unique collector's coin. A mint-condition version still in its original packaging could bring in as much as $1350 on eBay.
TMNT Universal Monsters Line (1993) // $1200+

In the early '90s, Playmates released two series of Universal Monsters-themed Turtles. The first set, launched in 1993, reimagined the Turtles as classic monsters from Universal Studios, with Mikey as Frankenstein, Don as Dracula, Raph as The Mummy, and Leo as The Wolfman.
The following year, the second series was released, introducing characters like Invisible Man Mikey, Bride of Frankenstein April, Creature from the Black Lagoon Leo, and a seemingly more mutant version of Raph.
Thanks to the unique crossover concept of this sub-line, these figures still hold significant value if they’ve been preserved well. A mint-condition Invisible Man Mikey recently sold for nearly $1500. We also came across a listing on eBay that sold five figures from the line (including two Bride of Frankenstein Aprils) still in their unopened original packaging for $1225. On average, most figures go for around $400 or less, even when they’re in good condition.
TMNT Shogun Shoate (1994) // Up to $1000
Though he only made an appearance in the comic book series, Shogun Shoate was part of the TMNT Shogun toy line released in 1994.
This mutant T-Rex warrior from feudal Japan had a limited release at toy stores, likely due to the Turtles’ declining popularity by the mid-'90s. Consequently, the Shogun Shoate figure is quite rare and can fetch upwards of $1000 on eBay—especially if it remains factory-sealed and in pristine condition within its original packaging. Most versions typically sell for between $750 and $1000, if still in the box.
