While many films labeled as 'bad' quickly fade from memory, some fail so dramatically that they leave a lasting mark on pop culture. These aren't necessarily the worst films ever created, but they might be the most notorious or the most entertainingly terrible.
To curate this list of widely viewed yet heavily criticized films, Stacker analyzed titles with a minimum of 25,000 user ratings on IMDb. Using a combination of IMDb and Metacritic scores, they developed a Stacker Score to measure quality.
The Hottie & the Nottie, starring Paris Hilton, ranks as the lowest on the list, with an IMDb rating of 1.9 out of 10 and a Metascore of 7 out of 100. Despite being rated over 38,000 times on IMDb, its popularity didn't translate to box office success, earning just $27,000 during its opening weekend in 2008.
While most universally disliked films never get a follow-up, Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2 defied the odds by releasing in 2004. This comedy had audiences cringing more than laughing, earning it more disdain than its predecessor, Baby Geniuses, which ranks third on the list.
Though these films are undeniably terrible, they’ve at least managed to carve out a place in pop culture. For an even more dismal selection, explore these movies with a 0 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
