We were captivated by every transformation and how seamlessly they integrated the Mytour spirit into their designs. We’ve highlighted a few of the designers' top creative storage tricks—from an unexpected closet design to multifunctional storage ideas, and even a hidden clutter solution.
Transform a Closet Into a Stylish Bar
CHRISTOPHER TESTANIDesigner Linda Hayslett was given the challenge of reimagining the roof deck and the small second-floor landing that leads up to it. The catch? The indoor space is quite compact. But with outdoor hosting at the forefront of her design (after all, it’s a roof deck in New York City!), Linda cleverly converted a closet into a chic bar area rather than using up the limited floor space with a bulky beverage cart. It’s a smart way to keep fragile glassware close at hand, and thanks to the mobile bar cart, you can easily roll it out when needed. Guests can effortlessly slip in and out from the rooftop just a few steps away to enjoy a cocktail.
Additionally, she lined the closet interior with a stunning wallpaper and painted the trim and door a soft blush hue (Southern Road by Valspar). The artwork and brass-plated shelf complete the look, adding a touch of elegance that really elevates the space.
Repurpose a Bar Cart as a Stylish Side Table
Christopher TestaniAs you can see, we’re all big fans of a stylish bar cart! Designer Michelle Gage included one in this office that not only holds drinks and glassware but, when placed next to the velvet armchair, also acts as a convenient side table. The extra shelves offer the perfect space to store books, tech gadgets, glasses, writing tools, and anything else you might want close by while working or relaxing.
Use Ledges as Light Fixtures
CHRISTOPHER TESTANISurprise! At night, the ledges to the left of the range hood light up this stunning kitchen designed by Kim and Scott Vargo, the creative minds behind Yellow Brick Home. The narrow shelves are fitted with strip lighting that casts a beautiful, soft glow, and they provide just enough space to store glasses, mugs, and spices. Stacking these shelves up to the ceiling not only maximizes storage but also makes the room appear more spacious.
Create a Stylish Room Divider
CHRISTOPHER TESTANIHere’s a clever one—Bobby Berk has tucked away a hidden surprise behind that stylish folding divider in the living room he designed. What’s concealed? A not-so-attractive HVAC panel! We absolutely love this idea because it works for so many other unsightly situations. You could use a divider to hide a pile of unfolded laundry in a corner, disguise a vacuum, or cover up an electrical box. The possibilities for what you can hide with a divider are endless! Of course, it’s also a great way to divide a large space into distinct zones. We've seen it successfully used to separate gym areas, workstations, and more in multifunctional rooms.
